is there anywhere local to dispose of a lithium laptop battery?
Sue replied to sandyman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You could see if anyone you know is going to the tip for other reasons and could take it for you, to save you a journey just for that? -
Yes, of course you shouldn't have to go to another one, but what's the point in staying somewhere which is giving you a terrible (or even mediocre) service and showing no signs of improvement despite your and other people's complaints? Especially where your health is concerned. It's only a "key point" in general terms, not in an individual case. Sometimes you just have to put your own welfare first. It's up to others whether they just stay and put up with continuing poor service on the grounds that it "might" improve if people keep complaining. Has anybody actually asked the surgery what are the reasons for their apparent shortcomings? What does the practice manager say?

The Co-op used to have a box for recycling batteries. Don't know if they still do. ETA: It may not take this kind of battery though. Sorry, I didn't read the post properly. -
Owners of East Dulwich Tavern go into Administration

I used to come to Lordship Lane with friends in the late seventies/early eighties to eat at the Dulwich Tandoori. None of us lived in the area, and didn't know anybody who did! I'm pretty sure this still happens. Though probably not to the Dulwich Tandoori, where I haven't been for years. -

Yes, so many new places recently opening, and with such a lot of choice, one bad or even so- so experience might not lead to people giving them the benefit of the doubt and making a return visit. And there is presumably a finite pool of potential customers, even allowing for people visiting ED just to eat there. -
Looking for good seamstress to mend appalling job

Please can you tell us where this place was, so we can avoid it. Regardless of whether their usual tailor was away, they should be compensating you for bad workmanship done when you had paid them. Surely it is not a matter of opinion whether or not the legs are of equal length? They can be easily measured with a tape, surely? I can understand why you would not want to spend more time on it, but if they think they have got away with it, they will not take more care in the future and other people may have similar experiences. But then I'm the annoying sort of person who would pursue something like this till I got compensation! -

Might be a good idea to google before you speak to them to try to find out your legal position (but whatever, definitely speak to the business asap). There is probably info on the MoneySavingExpert website, maybe Which (I think you only have to be a member to get the info about specific brands, not general info). The citizens advice bureau could also help, but I have no idea if they will give advice over the phone. Don't let the business fob you off, and don't agree with anything they offer until you are very clear about your exact legal position. Good luck, I really feel for you. -
Off topic sorry, but I was in a pub last week which had Youngs - four pumps, all with exactly the same beer. Thinking it would be crap, I had a pint of Estrella, but I tasted my partner's pint of Youngs and it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Back on topic, let's hope both the Clock House and the EDT can stay open (and that the Clock House continues to open in the afternoon on Christmas Day 🤣 , fortunately or unfortunately being on the way home from The Ivy House 🤣)

So sorry to hear this. How upsetting. If you told them exactly what was required and they didn't do it, surely the local business you used should pay to replace the jeans? -
Cosmetic dentistry is at least related to teeth!
-
I wasn't questioning anybody's expertise. I don't mind professional people sharing premises. What I strongly object to is making an appointment for a routine dental checkup and then being asked whether I am worried about cosmetic issues which have nothing to do with my teeth or my health. It's bad enough getting old without it being suggested by a dental surgery that you should be worried about how you look (and if I had ticked "yes" I presume I would have then been given information about all their cosmetic treatments). What next? Are GPs going to go down this route as well?
-
Injections for anaesthetising gums, not for injecting botox into lips and "wrinkles" !
-
Their dentistry training surely doesn't cover cosmetic issues unrelated to teeth?
-
The new government is well aware of the overall issues, if you read what they have said. However given the terrible situation re prisons which they have been left with by the outgoing government, they are having to look at "least worst" options in the short term. What else are they supposed to do? They can't build more prisons, recruit and train more probation and prison staff, introduce rehabilitation programmes, address the underlying causes of crime amongst young people, etc etc etc, overnight.
-
Now that would be a real cause for worry 🤣
-
Have Youngs ceased brewing? I still see their beer on pumps here and there? Not a great loss if they have 😂 I didn't know the Clock House and the Wood House were connected? I've never been fond of either of them. They've always felt rather bland and characterless, whatever was done to them to "improve" them.

The pubs will be sold, and hopefully remain open under new ownership.
