Thank you, both! Do dentists have catchment areas, like GPs?
-
I recently booked a dental checkup at Dulwich Dental Office in North Cross Road. I had stopped going there because during COVID I was disappointed to find that the very small reception area upstairs, and the receptionist, appeared to be very lax indeed about social distancing or taking other precautions. After their refurb and taking over the old Lloyds premises downstairs, I thought I would give them another chance. I was very taken aback to find that among the usual preliminary form filling re medical conditions etc was a questionnaire asking questions such as was I worried about wrinkles 🙄 Yes, I have wrinkles. I'm ancient. I'd rather not have them, but I have no intention of spending shedloads of money to look like an ancient person who has spent shedloads of money on work to make it look as if she hasn't got wrinkles. Are young people being asked this as well? Young people who are worried that they might be getting a wrinkle? Or weren't worried before, but are worried now that this potential worry has been put into their heads? Then when I got to the actual dentist, there was a large notice on the wall advertising Botox, even although the room itself did not appear to be set up for anything apart from dentistry. Is this common practice now? Can anybody recommend a good local dentist who won't try to sell you a trout pout and a face lift alongside making sure your teeth are not about to fall out? I was only reminded of this because Dulwich Dental Office have just sent me a survey asking me to rate them. Apparently they will then send me their "secret free guide on how to keep a healthy smile forever". Dentists used to tell you how to look after your teeth and gums as a matter of course. No longer, apparently. Unless this guide just suggests you have all your teeth extracted and replaced at vast expense by artificial ones that won't rot? Why is the guide secret? It is so secret that they haven't sent it to me, probably because when I got their request for a review I fed back something along the lines of the above. Sorry for the long post.

Problems finding Delmosart and other medicine in pharmacies

Surely if this is true (and it seems bonkers to me) and this professional body doesn't already know about it, then they can't be very professional? Who are they, and what are they supposed to be there for? I would have thought other reasons for the short supply of some medication were more plausible, but what would I know? Surely pharmacists themselves have some kind of professional responsibility to supply prescribed medication where it is actually available? -
Superdrug? The one in Forest Hill does, anyway!

Supermarkets don't sell as great a variety of veg as Bora though?

Sorry to hear this, but which cat is missing? There are two in the picture! Where is it missing from? When did it go missing? Give us some clues! There are lots of cats roaming the streets in East Dulwich! Also, maybe you could delete two of the pictures, as they all seem to be the same? I hope you find it soon!

I have just always assumed that anything in this shop would be extraordinarily expensive, which is why I have never been in there. I just admire the beautiful displays as I walk past, and marvel at all the different varieties of fruit and veg never seen elsewhere in East Dulwich. Not quite sure where I'm going with this post, except to say you have two chances not to spend more than you expected: the first when you see the price stated on the display, the second when you go to pay and are told what you have to pay. Two chances to think/say: I'm not paying that. And walk away. Or pay it and regret it and then post about it on here ..... ETA: Hadn't seen the post above, as I was writing this one

Thanks I will try, but am put off Twinings by their terrible (in my opinion) herbal teas 🤣 -
Yes, Inside 72 was great, so were all the little rooms in the Blue Mountain. The Drum used to be open after hours, you had to get in round the back. But crikey it was smoky 🤣

Too long a saga to post on here, and water long ago under the bridge. I didn't complain. I didn't find out it was the wrong hospital department until long afterwards, so I had unnecessary investigations. I didn't want to take the antibiotics but I was desperate.

Many cafes? I only remember two in North Cross Road at any one time when the greengrocers was there? The Blue Mountain was one of them, then Rose opened one at the back of her shop. There was a bar, The Drum, are you thinking of that?

She was a year or so back. I have no idea if she still is, or whether she also teaches elsewhere.

To the best of my knowledge Trish at the baths in Crystal Palace Road does one to one lessons. I've only had group lessons with her, but she is an excellent teacher and improved my swimming enormously. She teaches complete beginners and nervous swimmers as well.

😂 As I posted on another thread, apparently trees can appear perfectly healthy but be diseased at the roots.

My partner just bought me some breakfast tea bags from Fortnums for my birthday (not my only present obvs!) as he happened to be passing 😂 Though it says on the box it's a blend, but also says it's pure Assam, so that's a bit confusing! -

Thanks all, I will check out all your suggestions. I like strong tea so I will try Barry's and Thompson's first (never previously heard of either of them!). Glad they are available reasonably nearby! I thought something had gone wrong with my taste buds when suddenly PG Tips tasted of nothing, but googling found a load of similarly affected and disgruntled people. It was very disconcerting, as I had used them for years!
