It was a very stupid and confusing name for a shop not actually selling "white stuff", and the clothes appealed to a very small subsection of people who buy clothes. Plus they weren't cheap. In my probably wrong opinion. I think they had been in trouble for a time. They had massive reductions on some of their clothes, which still didn't seem to sell, if memory serves (which it probably doesn't). Are all their shops closing, or just this one?

Which bit of East Dulwich will Helen Hayes still "have"? Sorry, too lazy to Google. I think she is/was an excellent and responsive constituency MP, but some of her actions on wider issues in recent years have been iffy to say the least (in my opinion). I don't know if people locally have written to her about it, but if a significant number did, that could explain the leaflets? I wouldn't have voted for her again. I would have written to her to tell her why if the boundaries hadn't changed.

I do all that, I wasn't expecting a hard copy as well, I'm just annoyed at the delay. And I'm concerned in case my postal vote is equally delayed. I can't remember why I have one, unless I applied during the Covid era.

I think this is a local issue, but admin please move to the lounge if not. Boundaries have changed, and my bit of East Dulwich (or possibly all of East Dulwich?) is now combined with Lewisham West. According to the Get Voting website (see screenshot below), this is such a safe seat for Labour that tactical voting is not necessary. I do wonder whether it will turn out to be as safe a seat as they predict, as many people I know who used to vote Labour can no longer bring themselves to do that (for reasons which are definitely a lounge issue!). I think many people in our area may vote Green, and I'm interested to know people's thoughts (I'm not asking for individual voting intentions, unless you are happy to divulge them!) The Labour candidate is Ellie Reeves, Rachel Reeves' sister.

I saw a male sparrow feeding a baby sparrow, and as a result discovered via Google that both mum and dad sparrows share the feeding! Do all birds do this? On a bird theme, I moved around my feeders so the pigeons couldn't get at the feeding holes, except those on the goldfinch feeder. I have had great amusement from watching a very confused pigeon first try to get into the goldfinch feeder (which it couldn't, because the tiny niger seed comes out of narrow slits) and then attempt to reach the holes on the other feeders, which it couldn't because it no longer had a perch near enough the holes. There were some squirrel like acrobatics, then a great crash when it fell off. Then it flew away. I haven't seen it since 😂 I too have a very friendly baby robin, but maybe not for long, as it seems to prefer drinking from filthy water in an old bowl to the nice clean water I have provided it with today 🙄

Nor mine. Loads of snails, and foxes have dug massive holes at one end of my very small garden, and have now started down the other end. I like both foxes and snails, but ..... 😭

Just had through the door a letter from King's offering me an appointment last Friday. Lucky we have phones, emails and texts, isn't it? The appointment was originally made by phone. The letter was dated 6 June, the envelope is stamped 11 June, the appointment was on 14 June, and today is 17 June. 🙄

A perfectly healthy looking tree in our road was recently removed, and apparently it was because it had diseased roots. Who knows how this was discovered!

The Ivy House, lovely as it is, doesn't book rooms for parties any more, to the best of my knowledge, except in exceptional circumstances. Though you could ask, in case things have changed again. The Castle has a nice function room upstairs, but I have no idea if they book it out for private parties.

Off topic but I don't want to start another thread. I just had a Royal Mail delivery of a parcel. The postman ignored a large sign on the door asking people to ring the bell, and just rattled the letterbox, which luckily I heard. When I opened the door, I found the parcel on my doorstep in full view of passers by, and the postman getting into his van a few houses down. I then received an email informing me that my parcel had been delivered to my "safe place", an "enclosed porch". I don't have a safe place, and my porch is not enclosed, it is basically a doorstep to a terraced house . I know posties have a lot to do, but I find things like this really annoying.

No. Both sides of the dispute have to agree to mediation in the first place. I have been in a situation where the other people concerned refused to have mediation. And it wouldn't have been free.

Unfortunately the neighbour has to agree, which in this case sounds unlikely.
