  1. No. You misunderstand. I think this thread is about the unknown potential of a man alone in a children?s area, flouting by-laws. Children have a right to feel safe in areas set aside for them. I haven?t condemned you at all. I haven?t said anything about you. I enjoy freedom of speech and differences of opinion. Your joke about a dog called dickhead, whilst a sore point, is admittedly very astute and funny. You have said about me that I?m picking holes, you?ve said I?m condemning you, you?ve called my words gutter philosophy, you?ve said I?m speaking arse about face, you?ve implied I know things and am not admitting to them. That?s fine, I can take it. But I haven?t condemned you at all. At the end of the day Children are taught in school as part of the curriculum set by schools about stranger danger with specific examples given about men alone in parks. Parents are told by schools not to stand at the railings waving in at their children because they can?t always be recognised as parents. The children in turn are being schooled to call a teacher immediately if an adult is seen at the railings during non pick up times as they could be ?stranger danger?. Our children are being taught that an adult alone in a children?s area could be a threat and to report it. It?s not about this man being threatening. It?s about children, in their designated area, having the potential to feel threatened. 2. I tried to get this for cost reasons and eco reasons for 2 seperate rooms on 2 seperate occasions, unsuccessfully. The product itself is affordable but it needs to be placed on an immaculately flat floor. It cant go on floorboards. If you want to lay it on floorboards you first have to board out the room. This means using mdf or ply which defeats the eco benefits and natural benefits of the jute. It also needs to be ?double glued? and the glue isn?t eco. Finally, regular carpet layers are uncomfortable laying it and usually you need to get a specialist recommended by your jute provider, they aren?t cheap. In one room I ended up boarding it out then realising I couldn?t afford the tradesman to lay jute and bought a huge vintage rug (eco and low chemicals) from eBay for ?100). Second room I painted the floor with eco paint and stitched together 2 large rugs (Stitched by hand with jute string, easily) which covered nearly the whole room and cost me ?140 total. I?m happy to pass on where to get large, cheap, excellent quality jute rugs if you decide to go that way.
  3. I wasn?t picking holes. My very young child was walking in Dulwich Park the other day. He asked me if he could ask a man what his dog was called, I said yes. He asked the man and the man stormed off and shouted back ?dickhead? at him. Later we passed him again and the man made a point of giving my child proper evil looks. I told my child never to mind him, and reassured my child he had done nothing wrong. There?s another few threads on the forum about men randomly attacking people in parks and there appear to be more than one. KidKrueger, you have commented on these threads so you know what I mean. So I?m not happy about men standing around at length in an area set aside for children to feel safe. Is that specific enough? 4. In a children?s playground? JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think lots of people don't realize most adults > don't want other peoples children around shouting > and screaming. > > Most looks they get mean "shut up"
  5. You seem to think it?s normal to stand around looking at other people?s kids. You fling out the word paedo casually and mostly when other people aren?t using it. It?s you that makes the paedo link, not me. Again, like the original poster, I didn?t mention ?paedos? as you so delightfully put it. If you want to talk about paedophilia, which it seems like you do, then.... ?paedo is mainly a family game tho?? It?s far from a game. Families don?t tend to do it. Individuals within families do. Individuals who are mostly men (I said mostly) and who show an interest in delighting in the pleasures of watching young kids. 6. If this man was at the park to innocently enjoy the pleasures of watching my kids frolic and laugh in the sun.....I don?t give a crap. Don?t look at my kids. They aren?t there for your innocent pleasure or entertainment. Walk on by, listening to their laughter, chuckle to yourself, feel uplifted and keep on walking please.
  7. Definitely go for INOA if your salon carries it. It makes your hair super shiny which adds to the illusion of youth.
  8. We saw him in peckham rye 2 weeks ago so he must live there.
  9. Get a Jumperoo! It?s the perfect solution. Trust me. All kids love these things and you can lick them up cheap on here or eBay or toy swaps.
  10. I can?t help and you?ve probably already considered and ruled this out, but we just rented one from hss for the weekend for ?50. It was very easy to use and did a really good job. We made our own detergent based on the tips on the hss site which made it even cheaper.
  11. You should go into Pearspring on a quiet day and ask their advice. They are super knowledgable and can order things in at reasonable prices in my experience.
  12. We have parakeets alongside tits, wrens and lots of robins. Jules-and-Boo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > if you have parakeets, song birds will stay away. > I'd rather have the little birds in our trees and > the little robins who visit when i go outside.
  13. We?ve used Rex from http://www.aws-consult.com/ Nice guy, decent price, job done well. Edited to confirm I do not work for this company and this is a genuine recommendation.
  14. We?ve lived here 12 years and started our family here in ED. We have lived in 3 flats/houses. If you can get yourself in East Dulwich bordering Peckham you get the best of both worlds. Slightly cheaper property prices. Grown up meals out in Lordship Lane and youthful, vibey Peckham High Street for when you feel like a cool pop up or something more experimental. East Dulwich schools and Peckham Rye?s great train links to an awful lot of places. ED Fancy shops for gifts and fashion etc and then Iceland and McDonalds in Peckham for when you feel less flush. Picturehouse cinema in ED for the arthouse films and Peckhamplex for the mainstream ones and super cheap tickets. Peckham Rye Park and playgrounds bordering on both which gets a traditional funfair, steam fair and circus visiting annually. Also, with a kid you get nearby Dulwich Park, Dulwich gallery and Horniman museum with its annual kids exhibition (dinosaurs, colours etc) and aquarium, soft play at Peckham Pools. Good libraries in both locations, both with bespoke, closed off kids areas so they don?t have to be too quiet.
  15. I think it?s really nice and commendable you registered a positive post. It?s much easier to remember to complain than to compliment. It made me feel happy. So thank you.
  16. Not to worry! Got hold of a soldering iron. Thanks!
  17. I had this. All cured by Daniel at Dulwich Chiropractors on Crystal Palace rd. lots of recommendations on here. The acupuncture I tried first, only worked temporarily. I would skip straight to the chiropractors.
  18. What makes you suggest that? The prevalence of nail bars or something else. dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nail bar possibly?
  19. I walked home from Streatham Odeon the other night. Bus stop showed the next 10buses and none were the p13 for about 25mins. It was freezing so I started to walk. An hour later, just as I reached Lordship Lane, a p13 finally passed. Absolutely ridiculous.
  20. Does anyone know what the new premises on Forest Hill Road is going to be? It?s the old Barbers shop near French Cafe.
