Picture framers - recommendations and advice wanted
qeetah replied to Minitoots's topic in Request a Tradesperson
We didn't have a good experience with John Hawkins Picture Framers. 2 prints dropped in to be framed over a year ago. One we have back the other has gone AWOL. Been in half a dozen times to collect but always told its in the workshop etc etc. Have used them numerous times in the past but wouldn't return as still haven't got my historical map of Nunhead back. -
We have 5m bi-folding doors from folding sliding doors. At the time they were competitively priced and the install went well. The after-sales service has been really good; we had a pane of glass that broke for no apparent reason (the inner layer of the double glazing smashed into millions of pieces) they replaced it no-quibble after 4.5 years which I was quite impressed with. So overall they are worth considering if your looking for good value doors.

Could try: Old Spike Roastery in Peckham or Volcano Coffee Works

Tiger sheds if you want a wooden one Asgard if you're after a metal one. We've got both and I prefer the metal one as its very secure & maintenance free.

Stone kitchen worktops - any advice?
qeetah replied to kittenheels's topic in Request a Tradesperson
We used diapol www.diapol.co.uk by far the cheapest quote and they did a great job on the installation. -
See attached link to Southwarks website where you can download a list of skip companies that are authorised to issue permits for skips on public roads. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/3416/approved_skip_companies they all seem to charge a similar amount for skips. I have just used Toulouse skip hire who turned up on time and arranged the license. If you have space for the skip in the front garden/drive you wont need a permit. Also if you have space for the waste in the front garden a grab lorry is cheaper...

disappointed with new swim timetable...have I got this wrong?
qeetah replied to fmay's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I asked about the temperature of the pool when I signed up for baby swimming classes yesterday and they said the pool temp was 28 degrees. Sounds quite pleasant to me and would probably be too warm for swimmers if it was any hotter? Perhaps it has just taken a while to get up to the right temperature? I haven't been in yet to can't speak from experience but planning to go at the weekend so will let you know how it feels then. -
Just wanted to say thanks to those who came along yesterday - it was lovely to meet you and your sweet little ones. Great to see how well the babies can feed themselves too! Thanks for all the tips. I'm feeling really excited about letting little P try lots of different things now.... Will set up another date in a few weeks time to see how everyone is getting on and hopefully meet a few more mums who couldn't make it yesterday. Have fun! Pia x

Australian baby passport photos - where in ED?
qeetah replied to ryedalema's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You can also get them printed on line at www.paspic.com - if you have a camera and can take a clear front on shot with a neutral background like a white sheet they will print them to the right size and send them back the next day. It's really easy and you don't have to go anywhere to have it done. It worked really well for us. xP -
Thanks everyone for your replies - it's great to hear from you. I'm not sure we can get a day when everyone is available but it seems Friday might be good for most people. How about we meet at Dulwich Park cafe next Friday 24th September at 3.30pm? P

Hi everyone! So I've started reading the Gill Rapley baby led weaning book and I'm waiting till little P - my first baby - is 6 months till I start giving her some food to try (which is just a couple of weeks away)... It would be great to hear from other baby led weaning mums and see if anyone would be interested in meeting up over a coffee to share their experiences, and offer support and encouragement for us new to it all? If you're interested let me know and I'll arrange a time and date. Thanks Pia

Should you use a harness on a high chair?
qeetah replied to skip's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have a tripp trapp high chair and just wondering if we need to buy the harness AND the baby set or is the harness sufficient and work on it's own so no need to buy both? Any advice would be much appreciated before I start using it for my 5 month old....Seems quite expensive to have to buy both. Many thanks -
Franks back 2nd July....
