  1. Shoot me now.
  2. Cricket particularly, life generally. I think we need to invent an urban John MacNab. How about a side of beef from William Rose; a brace of salmon from Soper's and a toy fawn from a passing bugaboo?
  3. Just at home - not even TMS can raise my spirits.
  4. I tried to go to Frank's this evening but it wasn't open. [Note to self: read website properly.] The lifts were locked so trudged up 5 floors when some cyclists told us it wasn't open. Had to settle for Bar Story.
  5. Tapas and sherry - yum.
  6. I have to admit to being secretly thrilled to need reading glasses. It made me feel grown up and slightly brainy. I'm lucky that both my eyes are the same strength so I can get away with PoundLand's finest glasses. Besides, I'm so squeamish I couldn't even handle contact lenses, let alone an operation.
  7. How do you know what my chutney's like? I haven't a creative bone in my body so the thought of putting a knitted sticking plaster on Peckham fills me with dread. However, I am one person and don't speak for the whole of Peckham - indeed I have been known to be wrong before. One negative, subjective comment shouldn't be enough to piss on the OP's parade. If she passionately believes that yarn bombing will cheer the place up then my cynicism shouldn't put her off.
  8. Yup - their logo is on the info slip.
  9. Is RichT the result of a ghastly experiment between Brendan and Ted Max?
  10. I can't help feeling that this is a rather patronising response to what has happened, but maybe I lack creative empathy. Wouldn't it be better to start a knitting circle for 'deprived' kids to give them a skill and access to a wider social circle?
  11. I was at the same gathering as LadyD. It was very encouraging. There is a site if you want to volunteer for mentoring, etc., with existing organisations. [email protected]
  12. Damn - I thought we were going to tell shaggy dog stories in Peckham Square.
  13. What a tit you are. Last time I looked, East Dulwich wasn't a segregated community for either colour of skin or taste in clothing.
  14. "We have seen over the last few months an alarming number of muggings that seem to have been perpetrated by Peckham gang members coming into ED for a bit of thievery." DH, you are talking through your arse here. What proof do you have that these muggings were committed by the good burghers of Peckham? [Damn - in my rage I split an infinitive]
  15. Please don't dicky darling, I quite like the thought of living in a burrow.
  16. Just back from walking dog/trying to buy fags. All shops (except brave Locale) shut up on East Dulwich parade - had to go to L.Lane for my fix. Very nasty atmosphere but choppers are up above now, assume police are on the ground.
  17. Better ban *Bob* from this thread pretty pronto - he's been in a right funny mood that last couple of days.
  18. I discovered "The Silent Library" last night. I'm sure it should only be watched after consuming too much alcohol which makes it hilarious.
  19. Cricket in Belair Park. 'Swots Summer's all about.
  20. Sorry Moos, but KNumbers is correct. Anything up to 1947 is cool, after that ...
  21. Totally not connected, but something I've been thinking for a couple of days after reading too much Ian Rankin: Why do police have to attend autopsies?
