rather than use google to see which areas get the most reports, you will get better results by looking at the crime statistics on www.met.police.uk.

It should be noted that not only are we losing 455 officers there has also been a freeze of any new officers coming in for at least 2 years. Another budget cut is only going to make things worse as the freeze was brought in before this announcement. Safer Neighbourhoods have a good relationship with the local area that officers responding to emergencies are unable to give. I have seen on this forum that East Dulwich safer neighbourhoods have worked well with you all. This personal attention is in danger with these cuts. Also, officers are already being sent out on their own. Everyone has an opinion on the safety of that and this is not the forum for which i wish to express my opinion on that.

i was just looking at their website for the event. i was thinking of going a bit further and do the 3 mile. starts at the same time as the 1 mile. i'm gonna try and get a few more people to join us. -
Obviously I have always intervened even before joining my current profession. I am proud that so many of you feel the same way that we must stand up for our fellow man. I would like to stress however that I would say that rather than get physically involved you can always (apart from on the tube) get on your mobile phone descreatly and call the police. Identifying yourself as a witness when the police arrive and tell them what you have witnessed. Instinct and red mist will kick in when we see some crimes but if they turn on you, step back, get some space and when able call the police. Dont get into a stand up fight.

There is a shocking history of early onset heart disease in my family. This has made me very conscious of my cholesterol level. I have asked two different GPs to prescribe statins and I have each time been refused. Now my LDL has always been borderline high but rather than prescribe statins I have been given numerous blood tests to rule out any underlying issues and referred to a Cardiovascular Clinic. I accept that pharmaceutical companies have a shocking amount of power but their influence certainly hasn't influenced my treatment.

Legalise pepper spray as a means of self defense?
mazza7103 replied to Y'man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
i agree with milo on this. most crime are decreasing nationally and have been for years. the papers unfortunately terrify the public over a few cases. the fear of crime is what is increasing, not crime rates themselves. what we must remember is if we arm ourselves then bob the burglar knows in order to get away with something he too needs to be armed. this is why our police officers are not armed. a good question brought up by y'man however. -

cmck83 speak to southwark council noise abatement officers. they will already be aware of him i'm sure. probably someone who has a mental health issue. if however you hear anything a bit more disturbing and are concern, let the local police know. also, with the council i would call them everytime it happens to get anywhere. once you stop calling they think the problem has finished.

can it just be left alone now. ;-)

Bendy bus eradication and fare increases
mazza7103 replied to OutOfFocus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
they are a menace to road users. barry road junction with peckham rye is always blocked by parked bendy buses. there are many small roundabouts that cant be used by bendy buses. the other problem with them is they are so long you cant really overtake, you certainly cant as a cyclist. also, they cannot be towed. they knew that when they bought them. so if they break down they have to be fixed where they broke down causing even more congestion. i must say i miss conductors now. i find it irritating and feel sorry for tourists who are told you have to pre-pay at certain stops. -
I've seen people do this alot. Its generally parents who are rushing around. so far this week I've seen 2 different parents take their child in and leave the car open then go back to their car to pick up shopping. It may seem silly but that does not mean people deserve it. I certainly cant judge a parent rushing around, trying to multi-task. At the end of the day it would be nice to believe that we could leave something for a few seconds and not have it stolen
