Kings College Hospital - going to the dogs?
LuvPeckham replied to louisiana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Afternoon louisiana (and Everyone) I actually spent the whole of yesterday in Kings whilst my Mum waited to go down for an operation, Minor problems with lack of beds (recent Flu outbreak and icy conditions have increased bed utilisation) and as a result we were moved from one ward to another and stuck in the day room. At 4pm we were told that the operation has been postponed until today (she went down at midday) and that a bed was available in the first ward that we went to. I have nothing but admiration for the nursing staff that we encountered yesterday, all of them made sure that both of us were comfortable, that she wanted for nothing (except food as she was nil by mouth) and that despite the fact we were stuck in a day room that we were okay. A special note goes to the porters (Mark and his mate) who cracked us up when they moved her to her awrd yesterday afternoon and even popped back to see her in the evening to make sure she was alright. I agree that there are some minor issues at this (and every) hospital and sadly this is something we shouldn't encounter as patients but considering the volume of people who go through every day (and also consider that most of Kent uses Kings as a Hospital for operations) then I am not surprised at what you encountered but I am pleased to see that it isn't something we hear about everyday (as in Kings is totally disfunctional) I think sadly, in hospitals there are a lot of good people working their socks off to cope with the demands and as always a few lesser good people who when they have a bad day it seems to get noticed by everyone around them, in general most of the time I have encountered Kings (and other) Hospitals the staff are the ones who always make the difference. So hats off to the staff at Kings, and dear Louisiana I am so sorry to hear that you encountered so many problems this morning and I hope this is isolated for you and that next time you go it will proceed without incident for you. -

I wonder if most of them are Piscerians ???? (think about the sign and see what I mean) So when is this dating agency starting up then, I am sure lots of like minded ED people are interested and also if you cross fertalise the 'nurses' conversation I am sure you can pick up loads of new recruits too (pick up as in get them to register not pick up as in ..... oh never mind that is the whole concept of the dating agency anyway I guess...) -

My incidents have only been of the foolish / > unfortunate variety... no police reports involved. Errrmmm Did I say police report, so sorry, that was meant to be coastguard and police report - I tell you that is the last time I attend a mates stag night on a cross channel ferry, waking up starkers in a lifeboat with 10p sellotaped to my 'wee friend' isn't something I am going to admit to in public

Don't worry Woof dearest, the vet doesn't look there, just inserts something to take your temperature.... (actually not sure if that is better or worse) Miles - you do realise that it is for both sexes to use, therefore you may need to declare your bi-sexual status if you want to vet all of the potential applicants (or get a nice young lady as required in this thread to assist) -
Serious or funny threads you wished you had the courage to start up

Hmmm howabout "If I was the opposite sex would I want to shag me if I met myself (as I am now) in a bar?" Gets kind of tricky as it implies that you fancy the same sex as yourself, that you are critical of yourself if you say no and also that you are weird for even thinking about it (oh and the answer from me is no, I would be too busy trying to work out what the hell I was doing dressed up as a woman -- again) -
Not to trivilise this, but I wonder if they are interested in this Woofmarkthedog character judging from his/her comments however maybe they would enjoy being snatched

Spoilsport is all I can say I am not allowed to drink after that 'incident' and the 'police report' that followed ::o

Administrator - can we have a new topic section set up for Miles and his amazing dating agency ? I am sure reading all the threads here that it would be popular and would solve a lot of the problems with single people in ED and may lead to a population explosion (or the Primary Care Health trust setting up a STD screening clinic) -

Woofmarkthedog, you aren't meant to chew the rabbit, as that can result in electrical shock and broken canines Although I am not quite sure what you are meant to do with them as Kill it Cook it Eat it the other day seemed to suggest that they have interchangerable heads as they were pulling the heads of theirs to make them "twitch" furiously ... -

Throw the dog a friggin bone then and see if he goes off to lick his own balls or something else ? Personally I wouldn't let a dog sleep in the same bed as me, far too unhygenic (not to mention the bad breath problem) -
