  1. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------ > And the muggings by people on mopeds? Don't think this was mentioned Sue, but I got the impression the Police would welcome challenge if you feel this is something that should be prioritised by the Goose Green neighbourhood team. From the meeting they explained their role as a neighbourhood team is long term problem solving/getting to underlying issues, patrolling and providing police visibility - although you can see from the list above it's much broader than this. Hopefully you can make the next meeting when we finalise the date. The more we can get members from the community attending these meetings the better. Edited to add: the Goose Green neighbourhood team consist of two Police Officers and one PCSO.
  2. Yes from what I see on local social media I think there could be an issue of crimes not being reported, people for whatever reason not wanting to use 101, or hesitant to use 999. Hopefully with more local neighbourhood policing, (like the event on Goose Green in August),the coffee morning drop-ins and these quarterly panel meetings it will help promote how best to report crime. If you're on Twitter please follow @MPSGooseGreen. They'll be holding weapons sweeps locally soon and would love to get the community involved. Reassuringly nothing has been on previous ones! And just to clarify...the boundary for the new Goose Green ward can be found on this link (also has crime stat for the area) https://www.met.police.uk/a/your-area/met/southwark/goose-green/
  3. Thanks to all who attended last night's neighbourhood panel meeting for Goose Green ward. It was great to hear everything our local neighbourhood policing team have been doing in recent months, as well as being an opportunity for locals to raise their concerns. Please see below update from the team: -PC Fodor has identified three separate burglary suspects, two have been arrested and charged with one sentenced to six months imprisonment -We have arrested and interviewed a male for pwits (possession with intent to supply controlled drugs) -Working with us, L&Q housing association have secured a court eviction order for a problem address on the ward where the above male resides -A prolific beggar on Lordship Lane has been issued a CPN (community protection notice) which he has subsequently breached. In the process of being summonsed to court. -We have held thirteen contact points across Goose Green to engage with the community -Held one engagement event on Goose Green with a Police dog and traffic motorbike unit. Approx 150 people turning up through the morning. -PCSO Kent has done some fantastic work linking up business?s on Lordship Lane and in the process of setting up a business watch / whatsapp group. -?Op Sceptre? regular weapons sweeps and targeted patrol to help keep this type of crime on Goose Green low. -Visiting all victims of burglary and their neighbours to offer target hardening advice. -Patrols across the Goose Green ward every shift. At the meeting we agreed the following ward panel priorities 1.Residential burglary prevention 2.Motor vehicle crime prevention 3.Raising awareness of the Goose Green ward panel and police neighbourhoods team I'll post again when the next meeting date is confirmed. In the meantime if you use Twitter, please follow @MPSGooseGreen for regular updates. Thanks
  4. James - I wonder if it's possible for you to look into how and whether the roads with issues from lorries could be made part of the London Lorry Control Scheme, or Southwark's own equivalent? I don't know too much about it but have in the past seen signs like in the link below on other 'rat-run' type roads such as Lyndhurst Grove and Wood Vale and think it could really help us in Goose Green ward. We have similar issues on the northern section of Melbourne Grove, with loud lorries crashing across the speed bumps in the early hours, or private rubbish trucks doing collections between 4-7am. https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-weight-restriction-traffic-signs-for-lorries-england-uk-42050843.html
  5. There seem to have been several threads on here lately regarding crime so I thought it a good idea to share some details about our local policing team. Our Goose Green ward has 3 police officers assigned to it, forming the 'Safer Neighbourhood Team'. They have weekly drop-in sessions (advertised on Twitter @MPSGooseGreen) but also hold quarterly panel meetings - intended to be an open discussion on concerns raised by the community. I've personally found it to be a great opportunity to hear and better understand the challenges they face and how we, as a community, can best support them. The next panel meeting is at 7pm Wednesday 10th October at the Dulwich Constitutional Club, 33 East Dulwich Grove SE22 8PW. Hope to see you there!
  6. The map is on this thread http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1932267,1965314,page=4
  7. Sue, Cllr James McAsh mentioned it in his councillor thread. Said it won?t necessarily be the whole zone implemented, but it?s all being consulted on and the roads where there is demand will be considered.
  8. Let the scare stories, myths and fake news commence....! Councils legally have to keep revenues from parking in a separate account to cover the operational costs of a CPZ (ie enforcement officers issuing tickets to ensure spaces free for those with permits). Any surplus is spent on highways improvements. The council is not trying to enforce this on us, it?s thankfully listened to many residents asking for restricted parking to address the current parking issues and resulting congestion, which is only going to worsen with the new Charter ED school and health centre being operational in the new few years. Hundreds of teachers and health centre visitors expected each day with minimal room onsite for parking. The zone is admittedly very large, I?m assuming this is to address any concerns about spill over.
  9. Yes, looking forward to seeing it!
  10. Noticed today there are new signs up and the ?Le Nid? brand has gone, now called EDG nursery.
  11. I would say not needed. My son?s just left to go to school and it was rare to see a child wearing one.
  12. Grease build up in the extractor system confirmed as the cause
  13. Yes, it?s started. No horses unfortunately but dogs expected soon. The motorbike and helmet trying on seems v popular with children.
  14. Last time I had this problem I emailed the council but there is a more instant response it seems if you call the number below. Good luck. ?Next time you are disturbed by smoke and odour please do contact us via the Environmental Call Centre on 0207 525 5777.?
  15. Well said. The worst offenders are those with children?s car seats but no kids (often grandparents I imagine) who really should know better.
  16. ?Fly-tipping is dangerous, unhealthy and an eyesore, however, householders must adopt a more responsible attitude towards having their waste removed. It is unlikely that a "man with a van" and a mobile phone is a responsible contractor who will dispose of waste appropriately.? https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200304/cmselect/cmodpm/633/63318.htm
  17. Tweet from local police team @MPSDulwichWood We are aware of members of the travelling community having pitched up at the Grove Pub car park on Lordship Lane. We are are aware of this issue & are working with @lb_southwark & land owners to get them moved on & the site secured. Watch this space.
  18. Busy night I imagine
  19. Call Southwark Noise team, they come out within an hour to visit https://www.southwark.gov.uk/noise-and-antisocial-behaviour/how-to-report-a-noise-problem
  20. Would be great if drivers could consider turning engines off when waiting
  21. Narrowing the pavement right by the station entrance doesn?t sound great
  22. Call Southwark parking enforcement if you don?t feel comfortable speaking to the driver yourself - they send parking officer to request driver switches engine off and if they refuse issue a ?80 fine. I?ve found them very responsive in the past. 020 7708 8587 Moondancer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > parked outside 174 Crystal Palace Road a white/red > transit van parked there 10 mins already door > open, driver on phone, MJ61 JUC what can I do, it > is not possible for me to go out to tackle the > driver at the moment. > This is opposite the children nursery
  23. DulwichLondoner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > while still making it > possible to visit a local shop without paying > through your nose for parking. Surely these are the very journeys we should be trying to limit and if parking restrictions help change that behaviour I'm all for it. The air quality isn't going to improve if we all keep using cars without challenging ourselves, or being challenged, to find alternatives. Not easy I know especially with little ones but the cost of this convenience is their health at the end of the day.
  24. I fully support their goal of encouraging sustainable travel and reducing congestion (and more importantly air quality) but surely this only works if there is a CPZ in neighbouring roads to force it. Otherwise what is to stop staff adding to the parking pressures in the area? The same argument applies to the closeby new Charter school and medical centre where only minimal parking spaces have been provided onsite (as per guidance from Southwark to fit with their travel strategy) in order to encourage sustainable travel but I can?t see that people are going suddenly stop driving if they think there might be a few available free spaces within 500m. All we?ll get is more congestion with cars circling the roads trying to find them.

As well as a few other benefits below - cleaner air, less congestion and encouraging sustainable travel are my personal favourites. More free spaces would also result in less of the daily horn beeping and aggression when cars can't squeeze past each other at what is about to become the entrance to the new secondary school. - more parking spaces for local residents and businesses (by preventing commuter and long stay parking) prioritised parking for different types of motorists (eg. residents, disabled visitors, delivery companies, motorcycles, businesses) - less congestion - more convenient parking options for residents' visitors or trades persons - improved journey times for buses - greater reliability with your delivery slots - improved road safety (by designating where it's safe to park and where it's not) - cleaner air (by deterring non essential car journeys) - reduced noise levels - new developments (by reducing the impact on existing communities) - new businesses and assistance to existing businesses (by making available parking permits) - sustainable travel (by encouraging motorists to walk or cycle)
