  1. 1 or 2 boxes ok, but not 10 casually left on the pavement. And not with added polystyrene which gets everywhere, I ageee, and not with a suitcase added on for good measure.
  2. Honestly, I walked down the road this morning and it made me angry. Dunstans Riad is in a real state. We have one blue bin for two households so there?s no room in mine, unfortunately. The solution is really for people to learn to manage their waste.
  3. A lot of my neighbours have cars and money! And if you have money to buy all that stuff that comes in big cardboard boxes, you should have money to pay for bulk disposal. Or you could keep it in your house and get it out on the day the bin men come. When there?s a will, there?s a way.
  4. Dunstans Road is an absolute disgrace today. A walk down the road this morning showed a front garden full of rubbish from a bin bag left out for the foxes to open, two sofas and a matress left out, a coat rack, shelves, a suitcase and lots of cardboard, all from different households. Are people not aware of the Veolia waste management centre?
  5. Ks1 Sats and ks2 Sats are more a measure of how a school is doing than anything else. I?d work on his handwriting slowly and steadily without giving any thought to Sats deadlines.
  6. Thank you all. Love this forum. Happy new year!
  7. Forgot to mention these awesome pencils which I got from Just William at the time. Make sure you get the Jumbo model which is much chunkier. https://www.faber-castell.co.uk/products/GraphitepencilJumboGrip2x/111997
  8. Hi, I can?t comment on motor skills issues but you mentioned handwriting as a problem. The way schools approach handwriting nowadays is a mess. Our school got things sorted by getting in an external consultancy called The Magic Link. I was about to use them privately when our school started using them. It?s not cheap but very good. I know it?s money but generally speaking I find one on one tutoring really helpful when my daughter has a mental block on something. I hate to be using tutors at primary school level and never thought I would but here you go.
  9. Thanks. I will call as soon as schools go back.
  10. Hi all, Long story but would anyone know of local primary schools with spaces in year 5? Thank you.
  11. I?ve started not answering my door when I work from home. I?m fed up with people taking days to collect parcels which then crowd my tiny entrance hall. If you?re not at home to collect parcels, use local shops.
  12. Sorry to hear that. Do you know which neighbours the parcel was for?
  13. Eos Dancing is great. Our daughter has flourished there.
  14. Blimey! Right between the post and the bus stop? How is this even possible?

Thanks. I had completely missed that.

Has anyone heard of or seen Harriet Harman? Her constituents voted massively to remain and she?s completely silent...
  17. Saw it at WHSmith in Marylebone. Perhaps try WHSmith Brixton, Rye Lane or Forest Hill?
  18. Not according to the minutes of the Southwark School Places Strategy Committee, Redjam, in which it has been noted that bulge classes at Kingsdale won?t help alleviate shortages in Southwark due to the low percentage of Southwark kids attending the school. http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/documents/s71640/Report%202017%20Primary%20and%20Secondary%20School%20Place%20Planning%20Strategy%20Update.pdf
  19. I think the Charter North Dulwich consultation is making the school a little bit further away for us unfortunately.
  20. I was hoping Charter ED would free up some spaces in other schools but ?catchments? are still shrinking. It?s pretty frustrating for those of us in need of a good co-ed. Also frustrating to see the school-which-mustn?t-be-named recruit so many out-of-borough kids.
  21. Thank you for your replies. I had missed the good news about the consultation at Harris Girls ED, which came out last week. Here it is: https://www.harrisdulwichgirls.org.uk/4/latest-news/post/542/_fn_ I agree that Carrie Senior, the head, is great. Fabulous teaching team too and a really good progress 8 score. As for Charter ED, we are 1.5 km away... We should be ok for Sydenham School but the distance criteria is shrinking every year. I think we would have been on waiting list this year.
  22. Apologies. Fat finger. Mistake now corrected. Just wondering about those of us who live in a secondary school black hole. I?m on Dunstans Road. Too far from Sydenham School nowadays and not sure we?ll get into Harris Girls ED due to the complicated admission process. Would like a co-ed in any event if possible. I honestly am delighted about Charter ED and think it?s a great addition to the area but it doesn?t solve my problem.
  23. Yes, well done, James. I was wondering whether councillors could now start looking at the case of those of us who don?t have access to Charter ED...
  24. You're very generous, Bikpon. My former neighbours? dog used to howl for hours every day and we were often stopped by passers-by who assumed our neighbours were not aware and that we were kind of guilty by association for not telling them. Well in fact they were well aware. Any owner who leaves their dog alone should check on his behaviour with neighbours. And if the dog howls, he should go straight to doggy cr?che.
  25. Ok get it. I agree it?s bad. And having lived there for 10 years this never used to be the case. It?s not the school children. It?s literally a couple of households being stupid.
