  1. Tee shirt printing at Captured on the rye Flower arranging at Forest Magic party at the Illusioneer in Herne Hill Cake making/decorating - check Friddles Cakes on Facebook I think Really Maria also does sewing parties
  2. I went to visit Harris Girls ED last week and was very impressed by the teaching team and the good behaviour I observed. I'm now looking for views from people with first-hand experience of the school. PM is fine. Thank you in advance!
  3. The one from Charter is fab. There's a handout in it which covers one subject per page with curriculum info and latest set of results. Really well presented, clear and informative.
  4. Sorry to hear about this. I hope your son is ok now.
  5. I think you'll find they pop out for apricots for this evening's tajine! :-) Can't cook either. I would just order in.
  6. I think if they are well put together and genuinely reflect the ethos of the school, then they are useful. I really like the one Goodrich produces.
  7. Went around 11.00am on a Friday a couple of weeks ago. Was in and out within 10mns!
  8. I'm sorry this happened to you, OP. And I hope your daughter is okay. You should have stayed put! Like Saffron, I don't take any bullshit any more. But I've had similar moments... with my parents in law! They keep telling me how well behaved THEIR children were, mainly when we're at the restaurant. But my husband clearly remembers his sister's antics in public spaces. Same sibling called her mother a bitch in front of me the first time I met the family. Well behaved... not! People forget what it's like to have children. There's nothing wrong with challenging them.
  9. Oh dear. I used to love The Herne.
  10. "Right now, and looking at East Dulwich, the continuing failures of Southern rail to serve the community consistently and well are distorting the transport picture. Look at road traffic when we have a proper rail service perhaps, but right now would be stupid." That! The day I feel I can trust Southern again, I might just stop paying ?125 a month in parking charges in Brixton and driving through Dulwich to get there.
  11. Here's the link to the online form: https://www.gov.uk/eea-registration-certificate/permanent-residence It's all MUCH simpler than it was a few months ago: online form is straightforward and less paperwork required. As an EU national, I can't wait to have my residency and then UK citizenship. It's all too uncertain for my liking at the moment. Good luck with your applications.
  12. Wondering how EU families in ED are doing with their residency/citizenship applications... My residency application is nearly done... but it looks like it's going to be tight if I want to get citizenship before Brexit...
  13. Fantastic play at the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon. We went today and everyone, adults and child, loved it. It's captivating and beautiful and the issue of seeking refuge is sadly very current. It's on until 20 August. Perfect for a rainy day, of which there are many. Just thought I would share.
  14. JTshone, This is so appalling. Have the police finally sprung into action? Hope your son is okay.

  17. Interesting to note Helen Hayes's concerns that Dawson's Heights' fire hydrants might be affected by the frequent water shortage problems...
  18. And take food with you. Lots of food! Good luck.
  19. I think they're both a bit too young. You don't want to spoil it for them or waste your money. Maybe wait until they've both read (and understood) the books? We go to The Polka theatre in Wimbledon quite a bit. They'll have plays that are age appropriate (and much cheaper than the big shows).
  20. Not ED sadly but n recommend Six Physio (tube: Monument).
  21. I'm sorry you are in this situation. Not advising you to back down or give up on this job but would just like to add that writing and sending your CV can be incredibly liberating, alleviate the stress and make you stronger in your current position. Good luck.
  22. A lot of cats are unhappy indoors. But some are ok with it, some have become used to it. Much easier to tell when the cats are adults. As for costs, you need to account for food (we spend roughly ?15-20 a month) and litter (?15 a month). Then there are the visits to the vets, initial vaccinations and boosters (Around ?40 a visit) and pet insurance (?15 a month)... This link might help: http://www.petwebsite.co.uk/cats/buying-a-cat/the-cost-of-keeping-a-cat Call the Celia Hammond Trust, they'll be able to advise you further.
  23. I'd report to the police and social services.
  24. There are chance places available. A friend of mine got one. No idea if it's a regular occurrence. For pick ups and drop offs, working parents have nannies or childminders (including school staff in the early years if school allows it.) Some schools also do breakfast clubs and most do after school clubs. It's not easy. We were at Ducks for a year and hubby was always late for work... We're now at the state school opposite our house and it's so much easier.
  25. Do we know if distances are calculated in a straight line? Thank you.
