I think JL is brave. I would never tempt fate by changing my predictions. Having said that, I think I'm also brave for going with my heart this year rather than my head. Unfortunately not paying off so far but long way to go yet. http://www.4smileys.com/smileys/love-smileys/in_love_smiley.gif

We've been there/done that before Lowlander. Really don't want to do it again.

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

Well done Maxxi. Got nothing much today or yesterday either. Note to self: Try and stay up once in a blue moon to watch Match Of The Day so you have at least some idea of what's going on!

Maybe you should all read my OP again. I wasn't preaching or wasting my time trying to convert meat eaters. It was about the Daily Mail article re: vegetarians lapsing within a small space of time. I was sad about the fact that if people are giving up meat because they are animal lovers, therefore thinking eating meat is morally wrong, they would never lapse unless they had 2nd thoughts about their beliefs. How can you choose not to eat animals because you love them & then change your mind because you miss the taste of meat? It's about willpower. And if you don't have that will power, don't pretend to be vegetarian. People that are giving up meat to follow fashion are therefore 'fake' vegetarians, hence this thread. If you want to talk about environmental issues, animals V people issues, horse racing etc.... I suggest you start another thread. Just for the record my human family/friends come first, then my animal family/friends followed by animals, then people.

I don't think many would have gone for 3 x 0-0 draws either!

I was brought up around horses so never had a problem with racing when I was younger because I believed horses were bred for racing so it was a natural thing for them to do. I've never been a fan of jump racing & don't bet on it/watch/ or support it. I don't approve of horses being killed if they break a leg on the flat either. If I owned a racehorse & it happened to me I'd try & save it whatever the cost. Look at 'Mill Reef'. Yes, I did once put a fiver on Silver Treasure. But only because MM suggested it could win & it's not a hurdler/chaser. Unfortunately it didn't.

My conscience isn't pricked at all because however it's labelled, the bottom line is that it's not made from meat. I made a prawn cocktail last xmas with fish free prawns. It looked and tasted like the real thing but was vegetarian. Hardly makes me a pretend veggie when a real prawn didn't pass my lips. Anyway this thread isn't about fake meat, it's about people becoming veggie and not being passionate enough about it to have the willpower to stick at it.

Millhaven Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But you just said it doesn't taste the same which > renders the this option as pointless. We don't eat > meat because we hate animals we eat meat because > we like the taste. Bacon may not taste the same as veggie bacon to meat eaters, but I've been veggie for so long I've forgotten what it tastes like. So to me, I think it tastes similar to what I remember. I think eating pretend meat is > more like being a pretend veggie than those that > fall off the veggie wagon. What a ridiculous thing to say. Pretend veggie products ARE NOT made from meat!

What new chinese meal should I try tonight?

Mushroom curry with chips from Moon Lam Hong, Cheltenham Rd. -
Jessie, you are a 'real' vegetarian, same as me. My post was about the Daily Mail article (link above) about people that become vegetarian for a few weeks or months, depending on how long the trend lasts or how long they can last without a bacon sandwich.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2862197/Why-vegetarian-really-just-phase-84-eating-meat-just-three-months.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 Really sad that this has become a 'phase' or just a trend. When I became vegetarian it wasn't about following the latest fad. It was because I am devoted to all animals and therefore found it hypocritical to eat them. And despite what the article says, I haven't once had the urge to detract or regret my decision. Real vegetarians think the same as me. Pretend ones that are not giving up meat/fish for the right reasons, only because it's fashionable obviously need educating. And how can a passionate animal lover really not be able to resist a bacon sandwich? It's made from a pig! You can buy Quorn meat-free bacon in Sainsbury's. It may not taste the same but your conscience will be clear. 'Fake' vegetarians are clearly not animal lovers.

Another fix & even more obvious this time :(

I agree the most important thing is to find the owner who needs to read the link above & be made aware of what his/her cat and bengals in general are capable of. Could you maybe knock on a few doors or put a note through letterboxes in your road? Someone must know who it belongs to. It would be really sad for you & your cat if you had to re-home her. Good luck x

The Lounge Is The Best Place To Be Because.........
aquarius moon replied to aquarius moon's topic in The Lounge
I remember starting a thread a few years ago entitled 'Are you a he or a she?' or something similar because I couldn't figure out the gender of certain regulars. Even though I admitted to being a 'she' most people didn't want to admit to being anything. I think they prefer to create an element of mystery. -

I have no connection with the Family Room (kids are all grown up) or Items Wanted (have nothing anyone would want) or For Sale (I sold anything worth anything years ago) or What's on in ED (hardly ever go anywhere) General ED news/gossip, I do post here but find a lot of the threads boring, repetitive and forever being taken over by trolls. The lounge is the best place to be because, yes, it does have a boy's club (agree with RPC) and being female I'll never belong to that. BUT..... everyone that posts in it, boys club especially are the most entertaining posters on the whole forum & I always enjoy reading/smiling at what they've written. Plus I can talk about football and The X Factor and all kinds of stuff that no-one outside the lounge is remotely interested in, in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere.

The behaviour of The Apprentices tonight is unreal. The most I've been entertained all week!
