  1. I don't think anyone has said though that minorities and women are being targetted as such, just that they will be most affected by the cuts (I think).
  2. Stealing from an employer isn't a good thing....true. As for Mr McCartney...it's impossible for us to know exactly what went on.
  3. I have to admit that the only impression I have of Mills is that which I have from the media. And therein lies a point. Without the media who would she be? They use each other and the press always has a habit of magnifying things. Mills of all people must know this. I wonder if she just isn't someone who is a bit neurotic who has then been driven insane by it all. There is a sense of the harder she tries to make a point or redeem herself, the worse she makes it all. But in all of it I don't think she's done anything really bad. Maybe I should go make myself read the wiki thing in full :))
  4. Wow from Diaz to Stevens......that's some leap lol!
  5. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Huguenot. LOL :))
  6. I must admit I don't always wear a helmet.....but I do always wear one if my route involves lot's of roads and traffic. I tend to think that in minor accidents, any extra protection is a good thing, but doubt that a helmet would do much in a major impact. I do think that some drivers subconsciously are more careful around drivers with no helmet too but that might just be an impression I have rather than reflecting any truth.
  7. I'm going to reply to his tweet with an photo of the X-ray of my broken wrist I think :))
  8. Thank you everyone for the kind messages and thank you Frankito for the very kind offer of shopping. I have several neighbours that are covering that one for me. I am fully expecting to develop new muscles in my typing hand over the next six weeks Ladygooner and I was seen by one of the nurses featured in the A+E doc too. My treatment today took just 90 minutes to process and I chose a blue cast, being an Everton lassie. Again, fabulous personnel and treatment (and it didn't hurt too much either). Of course there are problems with parts of the NHS but I think Kings stands out as a hospital that is very good at so much of what it does.
  9. Tonight I broke my wrist in a cycling accident and was taken to Kings. Often people only post when there is something to complain about but I wanted to say how excellent my experience was tonight. I had to wait the average time, that's to be expected, but the level of care, and friendliniess of the staff I saw was excellent. I was given painkillers while I waited and then when my x-ray arrived, the doctor and nurse chatted with me about the break and the treatment options. Their priority was to make sure that the break would be re-aligned properly and that my hand/ wrist will heal to a full recovery. TM I will see a consultant surgeon to reset the bone. That may be what we'd all expect from a hospital, but there are so many places where that level of treatment is not available, unless you can pay for it personally. I came away thinking how lucky I was to live so near to such a great hospital, for that treatment to be without charge, and to be seen by doctors and nurses who cared about giving my arm the best chance of recovery possible. There may be many things to criticise about the NHS......but there are many more things to be proud of imo.
  10. If you look at the plight of ethnic minorities in the Labour market 30 years ago, the public sector has been the single determining factor in addressing that. Zita, in your link UDT, talks about descrimination in the private sector and I've seen that at work in my industry. It's changing, but not nearly fast enough. You make a good point LD about the outsourcing of low paid service jobs. Cleaning is a particularly good example I think.
  11. Two seconds ago I was looking at a loverly pic of Cameron Diaz and now I need to return to the Cameron Diaz tout suite. I looked at the link nette....got as far as 'is a former model' and lost the will to live.......... :)
  12. I'd do her!
  13. Can't wait for you to return...missing bread rolls....and scoffing lemon drizzle doughnuts.....those are things that remind me of you!
  14. ha ha....but iplayer on a laptop can come to the sink!
  15. lol....I think it's sensible. You buy the song, you should be able to put it on any platform you choose.
  16. Technically speaking Holby is indeed UK drama. Yes the secret of the extra two hours is....... .....multi-tasking! Watching whilst doing the washing up or ironing is my fav.
  17. I liked 'Shadow Line' too. Liked it's mood. Liked the 'Petal Rose' thingy too. But 'The Killing' tops them all. Haven't checked out the US remake yet though. And there was a similar French thing called 'Spiral'.
  18. .....and the moonlight, and the good times, and the boogie B)
  19. At the end of the day things are going to get stolen. That's why we buy insurance. If you are a phone robber, you are always going to look for quick and easy targets. It is surely therefore sensible to suggest that those most likely to be robbed take the necessary precautions to minimise that. We do that with other things. Who in their right mind would leave a laptop on a car seat or park an expensive car in a poorly lit vacant street etc. The wrist strap seems like a good and simple possible deterrant to me.
  20. Wondering if I'm actually the sane one!!!
  21. They get all their money from Jam, Jerusalem, and talks from plastic surgeons and top divorce lawyers according to one BBC documantary!!!
  22. I think this years UK drama has been good.
  23. oh how right you are ruffers...they get me mostly while I sleep (I live within 500m of that swamp in Peckham Rye Park).....and sometimes on the footy pitch..... Hmmm the fan tip is interesting!
