  1. I'll trim it...with my teeth ;D
  2. Yeah I agree...I only noticed today the reduced pm capacity.
  3. Rogers and Hammerstein.
  4. Yes I would be more than happy to have an ID card DC. Where is the eveidence you have provided Bobby? The link you gave provides NO evidence of Police 'often beating up Black offenders'. Even the deaths it lists, the majority are from underlying natural causes or underlying mental health issues or the result of fleeing from arrest. Perhaps you shoud read your own link and see for yourself. And the only person who has made any issue of race is you. The rest of us quite rightfully so have our sympathies with the OP and victim and not the scumbag trying to commit the crime.
  5. You've provided no evidence whatsoever to prove your claim that black men are 'often beaten up whilst in custody'......it's not me making unsubstantiated claims but you. I have given you reasons why I think your claim is wrong and you have offred no counter argument to that. The only isgnorance is yours which it why you posted a list of deaths in custody full of death by underlying medical and mental health conditions and fatal accidents whilst trying to escape from arrest. You clearly have no interest in debate beyond insulting the intelligence of anyone that disagrees with you.
  6. hhhhm exactly the kind of response i was expecting. can anyone think beyond their own experience? its horrible to be mugged of your posessions of course it is, awful when it results in injury. but consider the implications to young black men, constantly harrassed by police, and often beaten up whilst in custody, some fatally? Why don't we discuss it over a drink. How shall i describe myself....... white with blue hoody,or black with blue hoody...... either way would you recognise me? And exactly the kind of response I'd expect by someone fixated on the wrong issue here. Police will target any group when there is a prevalance of a certain crime in an area - because it increases their chances of an arrest. Recently there was a spate of teenage on teenage muggings in Peckham Rye Park for example...so the Police targettted teenagers. Far more teenagers were 'harassed' than those that were involved in any kind of crime, so are you going to argue that the rights of those teeneagers wrongly 'harassed' are worth more than the prevention of crime or even the chance of arresting those involved (especially given that a stop and search harms no-one)? At the end of the day, those with nothing to hide have nothing to fear from the Police. Police do not patrol the streets beating people up. When complaints are made it is usually during an arrest or from time spent in Police custody. Those people are usually being arrested or are in custody for a reason. Where the Police overstep the mark there are consequences for them, investigated by other agencies. The list you posted a link to lists deaths in custody and NOT deaths found to at the hands of Policemen and women themselves (this is an important distinction to make seeing as you claim that black men are 'often beaten up whilst in custody' even though all Police Stations have CCTV includng in all cells!!! Where is your evidence of that???). It is not only black people that die whilst in custody and also your inferrment is that Police are always repsonsible for deaths in custody is not born out by the evidence. Most deaths are the result of an underlying health condition or mental health condition that Police can not be aware of at the time. Others die whilst trying to escape from Police or immigration officials - over balconies for example. Again - they are running for a reason. This idea that innocent or otherwise black men are generally treated in some way differently by the Police to others is a myth. It may have been the case in the past, but not any more.
  7. Hmmmm...equally some will laugh off the idea that any criticism is mindless propoganda from the left....
  8. Asylum seekers do not get social housing...they get temporary accomodation (usually in hostels). Something entirely different. The only people that are being forced to downsize are those that don't want to move. Again you are foccussing on pensioners when most persioners who are moved, are moved into accomodation suitable for them, like bungalows etc. No pensioner is ever moved to somewhere unsuitable. The people who will be most affected by this are younger, succeeded tenants with no dependants living in three and four bedroom properties, who should have been forced to downsize in the six month window the law allows authorities to use, but failed to do so. So please stop with your nonsense Tarot. This is an area I know a lot about and pretty much everything you've posted so far has been untrue.
  9. Nick Clegg is indeed scuppered. He has a weakened position in the coalition now but cannot force a general election either because his party will be anihilated probably. We all could see this coming, but blinkered Nick, who put his own career first anyway, apparantly could not. The best thing the Libs can do is see out the term and get rid of him before the next General Election. He may well lose his seat in Sheffield anyway.
  10. They are not turning people out of their homes for migrants...you are completely away with the fairies now Tarot. They are looking at making existing tenants downsize so that those families in homes too small for them can be housed. I know of five families in council accomodation that is woefully too small while single people are occupying 3 and four bedroom flats. There is common sense in the council, who after all OWN the properties, swapping those tenants. It has nothing to do with migrants (the majority of which are not eligible for social housing) at all.
  11. Ethnicity is a key feature in describing anyone physically after a crime or attempted crime. Had the assailant been caucasian he would have been described as such and no-one would have bat an eyelid I'm sure. Let's just be thankful that on this occasion the little thieving scumbag got nothing.
  12. *bob*
  13. Ha ha...I do think there's no love lost between the guys this year. Usually it's the the ladies that get off to the bad start with in fighting.
  14. You are right but the business they set up will be for Lord Sugar.....so they will still be loosely working for him.
  15. Yep it's that time of year again when we get to watch yet another mix of 'made for tv' delusional fodder fight it out with the odd genuine business savvy candidate for the glorious chance of working for *cough* Sir Alan. Two shows down, Ed really did excel in a level of cluelessness even 'The Apprentice' had not seen before and Alex was never going to get anywhere was he with that level of arrogance. Now I'm liking Tom in the early running and how annoying are Edna and Melody (the moment Edna said she worked in HR that was it for me). Nearly wet myself watching Susan trying to get her ap idea out tonight.

  17. I am truly speechless!
  18. Overused means that the volume of traffic at peak times is too much for the junction to run smoothly whatever solution is in place. And I totally agree that the problem is exacerbated by local residential roads being cut off to through use.
  19. Aww but I just bought ten kilos of troll food from an Indian (or was it a Nigerian?)!!!!
  20. Tarot, the idea that the country owes anyone because they paid tax is nonsense that belongs to the 60's. We can't fiscally afford it because we are heading for an economy with too many pensioners and not enough workers. Just as if you have assets......you can lose them if you get into debt or be forced to sell if you need money for something else....including care in old age. Anything that is provided for is paid for by the taxes of those working TODAY....so yes, why should they pay for the care of someone while they keep their assets? That's life for everyone...whatever age. Councils already do move people into smaller properties and when they do so they always strive to find sometihng that the tenant is happy with. A good example is moving elderly people into bungalows. Most elderly happily exchange the large flat on the third floor for a ground floor bungalow with it's own garden. They are not the problem. The problem, where it exists, tends to be younger suceeded tenants who don't want to give up the space, but as I said before, councils can aleady force those tenants to move after six months of sucession. On the other hand there are families stuffed into one bedroom flats because there is no availble bigger propery for them, so I think it's perfectly right that the property owners, the council, should have some flexibility to move people. However all of these measures make absolutely no sense while the right to buy still exists. Most of the bought flats are now rented out to groups of single tenants whilst the rent collected pays for a more desirable home elsewhere (bought as a buy to let) for the original tenant. This was never the aim of right to buy.
  21. This junction is part of the next two year phase of planned road improvements work. It is work funded by TFL and has always required consutation with TFL before any changes were made. Outside of that the local council are powerless to make any substantial changes. The main problem with this jucntion is that it is overused at peak times, not helped by the high number of nearby residential roads that are blocked to through traffic use. One of the major issues is working out how to manage both pedestrian and vehicle crossings at this junction. All that longer phasing of anything will do is create longer but faster moving tailbacks. Right turn filtering is under consideration along with better enforcement of the current highway rules (the breaking of which cause most accidents).
  22. I can't disagree with that, I have to admit.
  23. Yeah and Al Fahyed hates anyone of colour as well.....oh the irony!!!!
  24. On paper yes, but it reality that's not happening. Like I also said before HB is already capped. The other problem is that many rental properties are mortgaged and the landlord can't actually afford to lower rents. This a problem buy-to-let landlords face particularly. On maintenance...the law requires that a property be fit to live in and stipulates just what that means. We still have a year to go before the new HB rules start to kick in though and we'll see then if there is any real impact. I don't expect that in the South east there will be. It will simply create a two tier housing system with an even greater shortage of affordable rents for the low waged and unemployed imo.
  25. LOL...very true.
