  1. I think they do. You can ask online and order a collection. They will come back with a date and a number to affix to your items.

  3. I have heard really great things about the coffee at La Scala on Grove Vale though I have not tried it myself. But I love their jolly messages on the blackboard outside the cafe.
  4. I contacted our local Councillors and one kindly forwarded my email to the head of electoral services at Southwark. I have just heard back and have learnt that this was indeed a clerical error in my case and that I am still on the electoral roll. I was told that the Council will investigate further before they remove someone's name. They were very apologetic too. So it really was the cock up theory not the conspiracy theory.
  5. They say I have to reapply sending a copy of my passport. I am not happy.
  6. I have just had a letter from Southwark Council electoral registration department saying I am being removed from the electoral role. They state that I am not entitled to be registered to vote at my address as they "have reason to believe" I do not live here. Since I have lived at the same East Dulwich address since early 1987 and have always filled in and returned electoral registration forms I am really angry about this. When I phoned the Council (I had to hold on for fifteen minutes) I was told "everyone" is getting these letters. Has anyone else had a letter like this?
  7. I see this letter must have been sent to one of the schools (Alleyns and/or Jags I suppose). It would have been nice if Conways or Southwark Council could have had the courtesy to inform local residents as well since all of us living in the area are also inconvenienced.

So funny, I love this winning description - you should be an estate agent, or maybe you are.
  9. Lordship lane is currently closed at the junction with Matham Grove and buses are on diversion. There has been a road traffic accident. I was told a lady has been knocked down and taken to hospital.
  10. Many people who use the bus have mobility problems or are carrying heavy bags or are worried about using the bus stairs, especially because buses often stop suddenly. Everyone should, I agree of course, try not to block the doors and stairs.
  11. I wish the Council would ban front garden parking spaces.
  12. After the moths ate the carpet in our loft room down to the rubber backing we had an engineered wood floor fitted. We did not remove any furniture at all from the room and the fitters worked round the furniture which includes a huge wardrobe, a bookcase and a king sized and very heavy bed. In our experience, unlike Stringvest's, it really wasn't messy having the work done and the moths have nearly all gone.
  13. This is revolting and I think you should consider reporting it.
  14. I often do a bit of food shopping at Marks and Spencer in Walworth Road. All the staff there are really lovely and helpful to all the customers. I hope the East Dulwich branch will have a great team of staff too.
  15. I have removed my post as I can't write anything polite about Louisa.
  16. Have you checked that you didn't leave them in the shop that cut the keys?
  17. Our bees were bumble bees but the beekeeper still rehomed them, although we did pay him for this.
  18. The British bee keepers association should give you the name of a local beekeeper who can come and move the bees to somewhere more suitable. We did this some years ago and the bees we discovered were moved to an allotment area in Honor Oak.
  19. Recently I needed strap on a shoe to be restiched. Timpsons don't do stitching. The guy in Merryfields pointed out that he would have to charge ?20 as it would need hand stitching rather than machine stitching but suggested I could do it in 15 minutes whilst watching television, since the stitch holes were there already. He colour matched the thread I needed and gave me plenty, double what I needed actually, refusing any money.

  21. I just passed there and noticed what seems to be a clinical waste yellow wheelie bin outside. So presume there is an occupant living there.
