  3. Brendan, where on earth do I say I have a concept of a belief structure which I agree with? I see belief structures all around me. I don't believe them though. The fact is I agree with what you said, apart from the bit about what you understood me to have said. Please advise or clarify what exactly you meant as you've confused me.......or I you.

Excuse me Chair but as I started this thread I feel I should have the right to pull you up on a complete misconception you are reinforcing with your post. This is not intended to be a religious discussion but one on the possible existence or otherwise of God. The fact that religions lay claim to Him/Her/It is neither here nor there. I had a religion forced on me in my childhood where you were led to understand that doing good got you to heaven and doing bad got you to hell. The religion decided what the terms and conditions were and generally fell back on an old book which had probably lost a lot in translation, to back them up. What the hell is hell anyway? Religions tell you that God either rewards or punishes you depending on what you do. Suicide bombers take solace in the 'fact' they will have several virgins lined up to greet them upon death. Do they ever ask 'what if they were all mingers'? My own view is that God is to be discovered but only by those who want to.I don't believe in punishment or reward as being part of His remit. We punish ourselves enough in various ways without needing a God to do it for us. As for the reward bit..........well that old book has a quote in it along the lines of 'seek and ye shall find'. The question is are you a seeker or not?

  10. Is this venue anyone's local as if it is I wouldn't mind asking you a question. Can I pm you?
  11. Sean, you have told us you assist Admin in their duties. Whilst they had a holiday the WDF remained open albeit briefly. I assume someone started posting offensive material there as that was shut by a 'friend of Admin'. I have never received a warning for posting anything likely to get me in trouble but recently I had a post deleted in super quick time regarding the venue of the next EDF drinks night. I never received an explanation for it and given the heading on the webpage encourages people to give their views, good or bad, on local establishments, I saw no reason for mine to be deleted. As for BBW in particular, I was on the receiving end of many of his comments, if I took seriously would be considered rascist. I wasn't bothered. Other comments of his may have been OTT for some and it is their right to object. I haven't read enough to have a worthwhile opinion. What I read of TLS's seemed harmless so must have missed the bad stuff. Keef makes valid points. Is this place just going to be for sanitised conversation/exchange of information..............or can you say what you think without being put sitting in the corner seat?

This I think is what Mick said about it being too serious. My suggestion Sean was written in jest.
  13. Why can't the Forum Admin open a 'naughty room' where likeminded people(or not as the case may be) can write what they want and no one need ever enter there or be offended who didn't wish to?

  15. Have edited my post to extract anything offensive.......I hope
  16. No offence intended Mick but having a soft spot for a team this side of the water is partially because we aren't that side of the water. If I was there I'd probably go back to watching Longford Town if it didn't clash with Longford RFC playing. Don Givens brother used to play for Da Town ya know.Mind you I'd still be a ManU fan. edited to take out the sectarian bo**ix
  17. From what I heard on the radio the seeding bit was a very late innovation. Blatter decided it I heard. Unfair.

Sorry but that's a load of bolloc*s.A belief in a god has to come from within not from your bloody parents.
  19. Fine Amelie you got enough answers as it is without me putting my oar in. Just wonder what sort of a friend it is who you can't converse with regarding their beliefs. But like you say it's none of my business if you insist on not being INCREDIBLY RUDE.
  20. It's obvious from various posts by Mick including this one that he was born Irish, wishes he was Scottish but accepts that he is really English. Is Monica an Italian or Spanish name?

This message deserves more than just being ignored IMO. It's interesting at least.
  24. Thanks giggirl but I got distracted by the advert on your link about losing 3 lbs in a week. I've come across it before. Anyway are you saying every premium rate number has a landline equivalent? Regards Declan
  25. Over 20+ years ago I was visited by a Californian lady who I had met whilst visiting my brother there.I think we were in love but I was informed that on her return to CA she did inquire as so what my salary was from my brother and sister in law.She decided not to leave CA and I can hardly blame her.We never actually met since. The point of this is not that she was bad to ask, but that with big life changes on the horizon,we seek security. All I would add is that none of us are perfect so try not to expect it. However, whatever your standards are, either stick to them for your own dignity or be open enough to realise that sometimes you may have set the bar unfairly high. Is that reasonable?
