Catholic Secondary Schools in Southwark
Narnia replied to Amelie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I don't think religion is political. Having being brought up as a Catholic I wouldn't wish it on anyone. If it's important to your friend Amelie you should ask her why? -
I'm pee'd off and thought I would vent my spleen here. My son is entitled to Job Seekers Allowance as he is looking for work and as I've advertised here before. When nothing happened after several interviews and waiting a few weeks he phoned up to find out his claim has been cancelled due to his not providing information as to who paid his school fees! Jesus that annoys me as he went to an ordinary secondary school. What makes it worse is that he phoned these people to find out what the problem was and when I examined his mobile bill this morning, which in normal circumstances should be no more than a fixed amount, he was charged nearly ?5 to ring the bastar*ds.I phoned them myself too to find out that they in effect don't believe he has left school or at least the school he was at and want a letter to confirm this. This would not be a problem if they bloody well told him in the first place. Apart from that I'd like to know how they find out if he is in another school.Does he need letters from every school in the borough? As for the second part of my spleen, it's Virgin Media. They offered a free box, as we have broadband and telephone with them. Got he box thank you very much. It only replaced a Sky one which was in my son's bedroom but did offer BBCi which would have been an improvement. They however have continued to charge me for TV in spite of several lenghty calls to them. I decided to cancel my relationship with them when I saw that they were offering better prices to new customers than I have and when the message from the 'you wish to leave us service' said it would be at least 30 minutes before anyone could speak to me. These people do not listen. I'm not saying they are worse or better than any other lot but god if that's the best you can do with customer service then go to America. They may be thick but at least they are pleasent!

I would just like to say that you provide an invaluable service to the residents of ED and possibly others, be it for light entertainment or practical information, and two weeks seems like a long time to be without it. On the outside it is difficult to know what exactly goes into running the forum. I for one have taken it for granted. I wonder if it didn't exist would there be a lot more adverts in newsagents windows or would we ever venture out to meet complete strangers. I've briefly met one through the forum but there must be many whose live's have been enhanced by the opportunities the forum offers by means of communicating information to like minded people(or not as the case may be). Now that I've said my bit have a great holiday and before you go please explain why you deleted a post of mine recently.....the one I asked you about. Declan

I speak to an invisible rabbit. So what if Sean speaks to a shoe! -
Sorry if you considered my question stupid but you said those forums will be monitored and then said there would be no admin team in charge. I didn't know you were part of the admin of other forums too! Should I have known this?

Ladymuck Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh, and we must not forget the inconsiderate > pillock who sits in the "priority" seat and > refuses to budge when an elderly lady/man, > pregnant mum etc, who very obviously needs the > seat, wishes to sit down I feel I must add a word of caution as an irregular bus user. On the 185 to Forest Hill to get the train there was an incident where some people complained that a seat reserved for the old etc was not given up to an old lady who got on the bus. Such were the comments regarding the youngish looking chap in shades that the driver decided to get out of his cabin or whatever that place is called, to resolve the issue. The poor guy who was confronted, took his glasses off to say that 'I'm only sitting here because I am blind'. What made me sick was this bigmouth at the back of the bus who made sure everyone heard, said that it should be a law that every blind person should have to carry a white stick with them. The moral of the story is that sometimes everything is not what it seems to be.

I watched most of the Ski game and it seems if anyone tackles Drogba he is in mortal danger. Give me Arse any day for pure uncomplicated and beautiful football. I'm a ManU fan but realise we are not 'there' yet and may never be with the players we have. As Hanson said 'you win nothing with kids'. He was wrong and I don't see MU,Ski or L'pool being stronger this year. Arse have the kids and just may do it. Wonder what the odds are?

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > yes i agree declan. Motty is massively over rated. > Now one of beebs better commentators. I never rated him Mick. He's a stat freak, has a voice that you don't want to listen to.

I quite like him for his opinions. I don't want to listen to people being neutral for the sake of not upsetting anyone. Fact is he is a Liverpool fan from what I understand. I think radio commentry should be about getting across the events on the field and I much prefer someone giving an opinion than just being polite.I think AG is good at his job even if you don't like him. PS Why the BBC chose Motty over Barry Davies I will never know. Davies was a much better commentator.

BBW is this in the cinema's now or from the DVD shop. Haven't heard of the movie but sounds interesting.

Apologies, missed the full stop though not the waste of time remark. Uninvited guest will leave.

Mick, why don't you rename the thread then? Who are the 'we' who predicted that SU and NU would draw? It wasn't a waste of time for me, it was a bit of fun. I've no interest in horses so don't worry I will stay away from your thread in the future. Good luck says it all as you need it be it horses or football. Declan

Eh.........one in four?

Well I know I haven't exactly stuck my neck out here but it's just for fun and hopefully to win more than a colleague at work. I picked Partick simply because of the odds as I'm no expert there. Newcastle and Sheffield had hiccups midweek but usually good for a home win so having drawn midweek I'm hoping they are going to win this time out. As for the Arse, I know Sam can be a party pooper but they really do have class and should win comfortably. Cumulative odds are more like 4/1 than evens.

Right experts, these are my 4 selections I've put my hard earned cash on this week-end. All home wins: Newcastle v Bristol C Sheff.Utd v Doncaster Partick T. v Airdrie Arsenal v Blackburn Given the premise that one (at least) will let me down, who is it going to be?

Spoken like a good computer Hal. Surely you could come up with more accurate stats than the fish in the barrel concept though?

Don't know about live rugby but ITV 4 have a highlights programme on a Sunday if you have it.
