My only child is going to Uni in September. He will be living on the campus in self-catering accommodation in his first year. As I never went to Uni, what advice would you offer from your experiences?

I don't know if you would like to clarify what email you are referring to as either I missed something previously or you assume readers of the thread know what you mean. Thanks.

I agree but there are not too many occasions when that is the case. I agree also. I wasn't thinking of junctions and in fact I would say it's not particularly safe to cross near one given that vehicles could come from 4 directions as opposed to two. This doesn't make sense to me. Are you suggesting that cars/vans should not stop at zebra crossings? Now that would be irresponsible.
What if there isn't a crossing? I live on a long road which doesn't have one crossing. But you are saying drivers should not stop to let children/parents cross. I can't get my head around that.
I'm not sure I understand this point. If a car stops to let you cross the road it is presumably stationery and ensures any traffic that may arrive behind it stops too. Whenever I've stopped to let parents/kids cross it's to help in a small way that they cross the road safely.
Cannes My brother and sister and law have a few apartments in Cannes. It's easy to fly to Nice. If you are interested I'll check availability/price with him. See website above.
