There was something special for me about the 70 WC. I remember England v Brazil was on my birthday. I remember England being 2 up and somehow losing with everyone blaming Bonetti. The Kaiser ended up playing with his arm in a sling I think. Most of all I remember the brilliance of Brazil.

A wall is being erected close to where I live. It puzzled me as I'd just recently received a letter from the council advising me permission was being sought to do this. The consultation period ends in July sometime. I have no particular objection to this wall but thought I'd mention it to the chap building it whose response was 'I don't speak English'. Undoubtedly all he knows of the language, except for in the pub possibly. He is no different to me being abroad in most places when that's the minimum I try to learn of the local language. Are there any moral issues I should be addressing here? I could report it to the council and they would probably have to take down the wall, but my foreign friend could be out of pocket. Would you do anything? If so.....why?

Does this mean you think there is no point in pursuing it or you don't care about littering? Your answer is important in terms of where this thread might go.

I have to agree about Adrian Chiles. Thank god/whoever for someone with a sense of humour. He is more interesting than any of the pundits IMO.

Can't agree with you Keef. Do you think the players wanted to play badly or that booing them is actually going to help in any way? They know it wasn't good enough. Booing them is a reflection of the tabloid type society that exists in this country. When they win they are potentially the best in the world. After last night I've heard suggestions that Capello should be sacked before the last group game and good old Arry brought in as he can speak English (?) and obviously Capello can't. I'm not suggesting this type of mentality doesn't exist in other countries but putting more pressure on your team can't possibly help IMO. I remember how crap the group games were in 1990 as they included my country Ireland. England could have won that WC. It's not over yet.

Oh dear what can the matter be? I think someone used to sing that to me when I was young but not sure. I shouldn't have got involved in this. I don't remember the entire arguement as I can't be bothered to reread what I've read already. All I will add is that I find it distasteful that people should use such strong language referring to another person who puts their arguement in a reasonable way. There have been pratts on here who have been banned for far worse but who have not received the sort of condemnation HAL has received here. By the way what is the origin of the word 'pratt'?

I hate watching telly with adverts especially when it's ITV as I don't much like their football coverage being interupted. The Beeb lot had nothing to get excited about so I'll give them another chance.

I want to purchase about this much for an annual family joust next week.
