  1. I mentioned you to Mr B when he talked about retraining actually! Bless him, he's dead nervous, thinks people will laugh at him; I said I thought everyone would be thinking "good on you!". I told him to PM buggie, explaining who he is (he is on the forum, although a bit of a lurker...) when we were at a&e last he had a long chinwag with a nurse trying to get Obs from Cheeky S too.
  2. Just thought I'd ask a bit of a nosey on here and ask something that isn't poo/baby snuffling related. Has anyone on here had a total career change since having children? I have a bit but Mr B is doing it properly- he's an Film editor ATM but a few months ago, after a huge stint of a&e visits, he admitted he actually always wanted to go into paediatric nursing. So, er, that's what he's going to do- totally retrain. I admire him for doing it, also he looks good in scrubs! So, anyone else? Have you swapped all day at a PC for fitting IV lines?
  3. Saffron; my sympathies!!!! On lex's second night home, she woke for a feed at Some Ungodly Hour, then proceeded to vomit up said feed all over herself, me and the bed. Cue entire babygro change, during which we discovered a meconium filled nappy had leaked. During all this, seb had woken up and when Mr B got up to settle him, he got sicked on; but not harmless newborn sick- full on toddler sick. Both babies fell back asleep happily but me and Mr B were left covered in god knows what and thoroughly unimpressed. May I suggest you mention this to any future boyfriends Mini Saff has in the future? Mwa ha ha ha!
  4. We've got a Henry Hoover which does quite well :)
  5. Saffron; I got it in Waitrose in temple fortune, north London, of all places!!!
  6. My advice: 1) replace carpet with floorboards instead. Kidding. 2) actual advice: we use one of those "rug dr" carpet cleaning things every few weeks and also use shake 'b n' vac or that new vanish carpet powder that you sprinkle on and then leave before hoovering up every day. Carpets will never be pristine again but it helps!
  7. Resurrecting this thread; Does Anyone know what's running during the summer? Is copleston playgroup/ goose green toddler group running through the summer? I have found myself in posession of 1 x 20 month old "spirited" toddlerboy and 1 x 3wk old grunting, snorting, piglet/newborn. We get cabin fever if we have a "quiet day at home", etc.
  8. I'm thinking ear plugs, I used to wear them when Seb went through his own noisy phase- could hear him crying but no other noises which worked perfectly. Husband says he can still hear everything through ear plugs- I say too bad, he's not breastfeeding round the clock.
  9. Susy, I called up Kings PALS and asked for the appropriate form to get my notes, which was emailed to me. I printd it out and walked up there with a cheque to cover the costs on the same day I was emailed the form and collected my notes a few days later. It was most enlightening! DYING to see them this time round, I kept trying to look over the Drs shoulder when they were writing in them...
  10. I have used it a few times, including last night (also elevated her cot to an angle a bit). She was okay till 5am until the epic "I need to burp/fart RIGHT NOW" noises started. No amount of burping her or cycling her legs about to encourage this helped. My husband says she has heart shaped nostrils, very cute, would explain a lot too...
  11. It's times like this I wish we had a 3bdr house instead of just 2! I'd move her in with Seb but that's cruel and unusual punishment for him, I reckon. She does sound like a farmyard! Ha! She's a bit "piggy" anyway- my sister said she looked like a raw Walls pork sausage- all pink and fat. Poor baby, we love her really...
  12. Please god someone tell me they grow out of this!?! Lex spends most of her time grunting, snuffling and farting like a trooper. In the day? Quite hilarious. At night? Not so much. She wakes my husband and myself up and now even wakes herself up (and is really p*?&ed off when she wakes up, it's not MY fault! Jeez!) she is also loud enough/our Walls thin enough that she wakes up her poor brother. Yawn.
  13. I just sent you my birthstory, accidentally logged in as my husband. Whoops!
  14. Another thought; have you tried to get your notes from PALS and gone over them with a mw/ dr? I did and it really helped me understand why my first had ended in a c/s and helped me make a more informed choice. Baby 1's head Was ROT, and he wouldn't turn/pivot hence the stalled labour and FTP. Baby 2's head was also ROT so even if I had have gone into labour, I probably would have faced the same difficulties his time round. I think it's because of my spine and posture personally.
  15. I'll pm it to you :)
  16. Grotty and cff9; this may sound incredibly silly but I've written up my birth story for my blog, if eiher of you would be interested in reading it? I'm not trying to push c/s but I wrote it up to help and reassure those who are facing a repeat or elective c/s; I wish I had something positive to refer to when I was pregnant!
  17. I really think she needs to stop using the documentaries as a form of therapy. There, I said it. However; 1) her daughter is absolutely adorable 2) I got a weird "vibe" from the smacking parents. Couldn't quite put my finger on it...
  18. For my birthday last year, me and husband went to Andaz in Liverpool St. Lovely hotel, excellent breakfast, near to spitalfields market for a Sunday browse and also by brick lane (curry. Love a curry. Mmmm...) was close enough to get home asap if needs be, Which we ended up doing as I was still b/f seb and couldn't get a response from my pump- had to rush home to feed him. Well done me.
  19. My MW assumed I wanted a repeat c/s at booking! However when I went for my 36w appointment at kings (protocol as a vbac) I had almost changed my mind and was on the fence. 'th' registrar convinced me to go for a vbac but did book my c/s for the 25th July "in case you go overdue". He was a lot more understanding than my mws to be honest. I think it all depends on The mw group you're with!
  20. I have just had my second baby, via c/s. First baby's birth was hr same as yours- induced, then c/s. I aimed for a vbac unless baby was late. Long story short, at a week overdue I opted for a c/s 5 days later. It was a wonderful experience, world's away from the first- every aspect of my care, op, etc was 100% positive, and i'd do it again rathr than try for a vba2c next time. However, vbacs do have a high success rate too- a few people on this forum have had vbacs. It's a very tough and personal choice but I was very pleaseantly suprised with my c/s this ome round.
  21. She just seems relieved after a large nappy fill-nice! The only time she is bothered/unsettled is about halfway through a feed, but this is because of my over-active letdown so I'm sorted re: worrying about that ATM. We were discharged from the MWs yesterday, with my parting gambit being "see you next time!" I must be totally mental...
  22. Just watery, no mucous ATM. Tbh the thought of giving up dairy is mind bogglig to me. She's generally happy and putting on a lot of weight so maybe it's just one of those things?!
  23. This question is regarding baby poo, I'm afraid. Alexa is 10 days old and since my milk came in, has been pooing round the clock. Good, excellent. However, since Tuesday, about 80% of her nappies have been filled with watery poo- still yellow, and still with seedy bits in, but much less 'solid' than what she was doing. MW suggested it may be something I am eating and the only things that match up are on the days she was a bit 'runny', i had several (decaff) coffees, with milk. She is quite a gassy thing anyway, burps like a champ, but otherwise is a happy little girl. Does this sound like a dairy intolerance, or just standard newborn stuff? Can't remember any of this going on with Seb, but I was a zombie for the first 8 months or so of his life, so can't remember much.
  24. "have you been sick on this iPhone?" was a rather choice phrase. Today we've had variations of "no we do NOT slap sleeping sister babies!" etc
  25. Otta, I LOVED my surgical team- I had two anaesthetists there because of a spinal issue- I described one as "dreamy". Yes, to his face. Honestly, I could NOT fault Kings at all during my pregnancy, c/s,and recovery, they've just been so, so amazing. I feel truely lucky to have Kings right on our doorstep (took Seb to a&e today and we were in and out and treated within 50 mins. Amazing.)
