  1. The baby whisper riled me right up, erroneous advice re: breastfeeding. We bumble along too, Sebs as mad as a box of frogs but happy, as is Lex (as far as I can tell...) so we must be doing something right, I suppose.
  2. Bookstart at camberwell library is good but fills up dead quickly- 10-11:30. My toddler free days are about to change so we will be going next Friday!
  3. Bookstart yesterday at the albrighton centre was really lovely- loads of toys, books, big soft toys. It's in a clean and safe space and the two ladies running it were really friendly. I'd recommend, will definitely be going again; seb got a lot out of it and even newborn Lex lay happily on a mat listening to stories/songs at the end. They've also got a big room at the back as a designated buggy park :) everyone was really laid back about sebs anarchistic tendencies, like running off to retrieve some kind of toy truck during the stories.
  4. My sons: willie, penis (no beating around the bush there) ny daughter: 'girl parts' and if we ask seb, 'where are alexa's girl parts?'in the bath, he points to...er... Them.
  5. When I went into kings to have Lex, there was a toddler being wheeled around the ward on one of those smart trikes by I can only assume a bloke who was his DAd; judging by the desperate tone e was using whilst on his phone...not something I would ever want to experience, really, although mr b did actually want Seb in the room as I gave birth at one point. Surgery and me threatening him with q kick in the goolies soon put that right
  6. BB, I'm hoping it's on tomorrow as me and my toddler and newborn are intending on going!
  7. To cut a very long story short, I need to accompany Mr B to what is likely to be a very long outpatients appointmen at Kings next Tuesday. Toddler will be with MIL all day but newborn will be in attendance, she's only 6w old and doesn't want anything to do with expressed breast milk. Sigh. Last time we were at Kibgs, I wore her all day Which was fine but not ideal. Happy to exchange a bottle of vino, or newborn cuddles (for that baby "fix" w/o actually having to have a baby...win!) for pram loan. Thanks all!
  8. Thought of this thread just now- walked back through Brunswick Park with the babies- eldest "baby" found lots of conkers and was incredibly excited by them, asking to get out of his buggy to collect them and put them in jlour pockets and bag. It doesn't seem that long ago that me a d my sister were collecting conkers and keeping them in our Mum's bag for life in the kitchen. Eldest baby has now put them all in his potty. Hmmm.
  9. I dunno, I kind of love the start if autumn- new school year, new books and pens etc. I'm more of a cozy autumn/winter person than spring/summer though. Today is miserable though. Rain, boo.
  10. I say this as the wife of someone who suffered a violent attack (gbh actually) this weekend but fighting is never, ever the answer actually. He could either do as redjam suggested- ignore it/ laugh it off, with support from you telling him what cowards the boys are, or you could go into the school to speak to his head of year. Dependig on your child, you'll know which is te best course of action. Sorry your son is going through this, it's unacceptable.
  11. We had a circle of emergency contacts who kne our eldest well enough to have him if needs be. I had a "manual" for him, as he's a difficult and spirited fellow sometimes, and they All had a copy of it. A friend is doing the same thing ATM, she's due her second in Novemember and we are on her "list". In the end, my second baby was an elective c/s and we could plan for my eldest to go to my ils, so it all worked out well. Good luck!
  12. Tena lady pants are a lifesaver. Especially for catching "waters" (didn't happen with mine) primark may as well have a "cheap, easy and chuckable clothes for birth" section. Totally agree with SB re: "loungewear" for the PN ward. I had my shower after my c/s (bliss) got dressed in yoga pants, tsbirt and hoodie and was then discharged. Which was nice.
  13. At nursery/cr?che/ with my MIL, my son is like this. I had to actually take him to my MILs to eat once after he refused to eat (for me) for four days. In conclusion, toddlerboys are little cheeky buggers. There is no rhyme or reason :/
  14. SE girl- we have a blue fleece one w/ polka dots which fitted our old style bee just fine- you're welcome to have it if you like- it doesn't fit the double buggy. Sigh. On a personal note, huge apologies for not emailing you back many months ago. I'm a bit crap when pregnant- must make sure that doesn't happen again!!!
  15. Induction w/ baby 1- totally naked after the first hour. Had to be put IN a gown when wheeled off for c/s baby 2: fetching hospital gown. Mm. Sexy!
  16. Saw some in john lewis bluewAter this weekend if you're still interested....
  17. Total arse. I'd ignore it. Never done it myself but will do when we go to the states in a few weeks! Husband flew via EJ to Lisbon in June and said he saw at least two mums bf their Babies on landing and takeoff.
  18. Seb was head down from 20wks, but lex was transverse for the entire pregnacy. Was covinced she would never turn but she did at 36wks! Head down, completley engaged. For all the good it did... Best friend is 34wks with her second, he's breech too. I think breech/oblique/transverse babies second time around are so so so common. Spinning babies website is excellent though, i'd give their tricks a go!! Btw, I keep seeing you everywhere- goose green, sainsburys, but always in a manic dash so never say hello :/
  19. Sb: did you buy another seat that reclines? The sport model rather than explorer? If so, does it work allright? Thinking of trip to NY, lex isn't going to be happy in the cocoon, or fit, but will only be 3mo so can't sit bolt upright in the current doubles kit mode. Wah wah wah
  20. If the double buggy is just for the nursery run, could you pop Baby in a sling and your toddler in a buggy for those trips, but have buggy for baby and buggy board for him for any other trips? I've had my p&t in doubles mode for 5wks, and I avoid using it as much as possible- we only use it if we're going somewhere more than a 30min walk away/ into central london. Otherwise, it's maclaren for toddler, ergo for baby. I understand that babywearing isn't for everyone though.
  21. Good points- relatively slimline, easy to get on buses with that in mind. -converts into a single easily, so you may not have to have two buggies/have a side by side with only one seat occupied in due course. Bad points- -Heavy -Like, really bloody heavy. -Not that easy to fold, even thought it's meant to be one handed. -Expensive; think a baby jogger city mini double is half the price. -Bulky- I can't push it through the front of a bus, have to get on the backdoors. I tried a maclaren double this weekend and couldn't steer is properly :/ My favourite is still the baby jogger city mini double, even though it's a side-by-side. Wish I'd tried out more before buying.
  22. This is only anecdotal: mum had me in her early 30s and really struggled to concieve me. I've ended up being 1 of 5, the rest all concieved when my mum was in hr very late 30s- mainly early-mid 40s. She found it easier to concieve in her 40s but said the pregnancies and newborn schtick Was killer. My brother was born three days after Mum turned 47. (he was 3wks late, though...)
  23. Clare, it's possible as I know a childminder who does this but as Nikki said, v umcomfortable. I'm so sure there is a specialized p&t buggy board that is online, like a skateboard or scooter, though. I saw something about it posted on Here when I first started posting...
  24. Agree with buggie re: soft play. Lots of us have little babies and toddlers and it's hard to find places to go to suit both.
  25. Re: schools. My uncle (lives in manhatten, lucky him) is going through this right now. Sounds worse than school logisitics round here tbh! Thankyou everyone so much for your replies! We tried out a double maclaren and even a nipper 360 over the weekend but I had so much trouble steering them. It's going to be the p&t, plus a few slings for good measure. I'm going to buy a seat that reclines slightly so we can recline it and pad it out and hope lex is good in it- she's got amazing head control already, so maybe??? We also have a myriad of city guides and books- seb is v excited, mainly for the plane ride. I'm happy that I'm nursing Lex and can't do any toddler wrangling on the plane- now there is a benefit of bf no one tells you about!!!
