  1. Hi folks. I found a set of keys Peckham Rye East Side junction with Elland Road / Cheltenham Road area. Describe them to me including any fobs and so on. You may have to come and collect though.
  2. Hiya, elsewhere I have posted I found keys but I will confirm the ones I found are not this. I do wish your mate well. So worrying!
  3. I LOVE how he says he does not live in the house, he lives inside his head. That's exactly my feeling about me. Can't wait till it opens for business again!
  4. For clarity. Peckham Rye EAST side, is SE15, and the Common is SE15. Peckham Rye WEST side, is SE22, as is the Park, SE22 One side has odd numbers (SE15 I think!) The other has even numbers. Meanwhile, SOUTH is towards the TOP of the hill. North is towards Peckham and the river. You're welcome. To block a road to all but cycles (and the four busses that use it?) so that no-one can turn right, ie west, towards East Dulwich Road/Roundabout, from either Peckham Rye East OR West, shows utter stupidity, thoughtlessness, and all round f*&%wittery of those who run our Council. It WILL affect cycles because the extra traffic build up on PEckham Rye West will make it more dangerous for them. All council meetings I have ever attended I have tried to remind them that not all people can ride cycles for reasons of health age dis/ability or other. This idea is planned for after Covid has been dealt with I think. We must sign the petition and either all turn up and stop the work from going ahead, or just raise our eyebrows in despair.
  5. To be fair, Kristals in Nunhead had said their suppliers' prices were hiked up so that had to pass it on. Not all small businesses are bring greedy; some might be of course. As for it being illegal to hike up the prices. Where did you read that? Go round and tell the petrol station charging ?1.27 when I just got it down the road for ?1.19 a litre.
  6. My husband's arrived today. I'm still not eligible!
  7. It IS a fair and constructive reply, when asking about the cost to also consider the ecological cost of not having planting/grass where such planting and grass was initially placed.
  8. All the poor insensitive jokes aside - there are many people who have bad lungs yet wish to stay in the city - living in the countryside with bad lungs can be just as bad because of pollen. Dust doesn't discriminate either. Whatever the neighbour was smoking if I had to breathe it in it would be a huge issue for me. I hope this can be resolved for you. Definitely sensitively approach neighbour first with a smile and maybe a gift of a beer or something similar as a way of breaking ice? May sound silly but it can work.
  9. I found some on Etsy the other day. I was thinking of doing some in the kitchen with herbs. But I can't find it on Etsy now. Your plan sounds fabulous! We don't have a big kitchen but I am sure what I did see would suit a big wall.
  10. The Peckham Society does do direct debit now and also whilst it tries to be inclusive it would be fair to say its membership is not representative of the Peckham we know. So it is up to folks of all backgrounds to join it and make it what you want it to be. Having said that, it is a great source of historical information. Its website is not updated regularly enough but it is back to the usual thing about any local interest organisation / special interest organisation. They tend to be run by volunteers who have full time jobs. https://www.peckhamsociety.org.uk/ I realise the original post was about Austins but I hope my post is acceptable! On that note, Austins was down the road from me and I also loved walking around there. My American relatives visited it with me and wanted to ship much of it across to USA had they been able to afford to do so! If memory serves, it closed down because the younger members of the family did not want to carry on running it.
  11. Husband a professional photographer who does pinhole photography work and abstract photography (and makes his own pinhole cameras). Ohh yes. And then there are a lot of my photos too. And a massive map of London. And a massive satellite image of South East England. Also some of my own art works, including covering the pipes in the flat (it's an old block) with material in garish glitzy sparkly colours matching the walls and furniture. We prefer to use our own stuff and don't buy others. But thanks for asking. Oh and also, tenants can put their own art works on walls. Council tenants certainly. And I am sure some private ones too.
  12. Highly recommend as someone else already has www.bedbugs.co.uk I have seen them at work and he's been on the telly a few times. David someone.
  13. I totally agree with you. This is awful. I never use cards if I can avoid it. I always love using cash. Often, shops like it too. But you're right, many people don't have a choice. (Some of my clients still pay me by cheque!) Having said that, some people can't afford the sort of prices in many such establishments anyway. Certainly won't be going back to this cafe till they re-instate the use of cash. And they shall survive.
  14. Ooooh let's all jump up and down on the rubber tubes. "Just for fun. For a laugh. Ha ha ha."
  15. The Nunhead and Peckham Rye SNT also have meetings and they said they would advertise a bit more their meetings on the What's On section. We really all should try and attend Safer NeighbourHood Team Meetings because it benefits all of us and we are the people they need feedback from. I was sad to see no SNT police stand at the Fete though, just six grumpy silent police from the roads and highways team, I believe, trying really hard not to engage with or be engaged by anyone at all.
  16. Hi, I have only just seen this post, so I hope my experience can still offer some help. My thoughts and suggestions (to you and/or anyone else reading this): 1) ALWAYS do it / them well in advance. 2) I had LPAs for Health and Welfare, and Finance, completed for each of my parents, done through SAGA. I would NOT recommend doing it through SAGA. Their solicitors were dreadfully incompetent, ridiculous expensive, and the solicitors' assistants made so many errors that I, as a former proof reader, felt very angry about. My parents paid for all of this. 3) I would suggest that as soon as they have been completed, and registered, you go to every bank / financial institution that is relevant to the person/s for whom you are acting, WITH them if possible, whilst they are able to accompany you, so that you can show the manager your forms and they can register this LPA and your right to act IN ADVANCE at each organisation. 4) NEVER use SAGA (did I say that already?!) 5) When both parents sadly got to the point of suffering dementia, the LPA was really helpful for me to organise their payments for things, and buy the things they needed with their money. And I was also listened to more seriously with the LPA for Health and Welfare matters, although I believe The State still has the final say in some issues. 5) There is also a form you can get from the social services which allows you to be the recognised responsible person to deal with on behalf of someone else who is under the care of social services. I seem to remember it is a form called something like BF57. That's also worth having. I plan to get LPAs done for my husband and I to act for one another. I am just going to copy type directly from the ones I had for my parents and see how that goes! I won't be able to get to the advice session mentioned above, but there is a lot of advice on line about it. Best wishes!
  17. Never heard of lawn rust. Can't believe it is the first time this has happened in 36 years of living across the road from the park, and as someone who suffers fungal issues in the lungs, YIKES! Never noticed it before though!
  18. 1) a general hint: Never use the windscreen wipers when someone has thrown eggs on your windscreen. It will make things worse. 2) when I read the title I thought maybe they had actually thrown the well known Motorcycle cleaner GUNK on your car, in which case it would have been a hint to clean your dirty car, but this was not the case so I am sorry this happened.
  19. OK I just saw the answer to my question in the other thread.
  20. And me. And it was not about the money, it is helping to contribute towards knowledge and information about how our brains work and to be part of a "control group". Always useful to try and help. The money was a bonus. She is a very intelligent kind patient person.
  21. I think theft is wrong. However, in these days with sanctioned benefits and dying people being declared fit for work, theft is inevitable and it is the only way some people can survive. However, this was a group of young men, so it was malicious. How can this be stopped? People who want to be parents have to go to parenting classes and remain responsible for their kids. However, those same people may not be capable, or suffering depression, or any number of issues. There's never any easy answer. But theft is still wrong. HOLY CR@P am I writing on the correct thread still? All you children who are arguing about the pros and cons of the forum should take it to the ABOUT THE FORUM section.
  22. Oh come on, PLEASE try harder than that to sound passive aggressive. "Can't believe no ones got the answer to this very simple puzzle"
  23. What's the singular of Genuis? Or is Genui plural? in which case the superfluous 's' is worth minus 2.
  24. I can spell "Genius".
