  1. Interesting; I got nothing, but connected to a friend's connection of NotBT. Yet the hub be blue. Edited to add, It came back. Hope it does for you too.
  2. Deleted
  3. I put items directly into my upturned helmet as I can not cope with carrying a helmet and a shopping basket with no hands left to actually collect shopping. Then the helmet's too small so it all gets messy, and more often than not I put my helmet ON (half face helmet so you can see my whole face, and if they challenge me I ask if they would dare challenge a woman wearing full veil...). I guess my point is, that as long as the person does not leave the shop without paying for any item, that person can carry their stuff wherever, and anyway, if all you have is that one bag, how do you know how much to buy before it's full / too heavy? I'm with the dude. Oh, by the way what's calico?
  4. At the meeting to discuss this a few weeks ago, the head of the operations at the gas company (can't remember the name or his name) who was truly approachable and able to explain everything, said he himself is a cyclist and so he had ridden his bicycle on the alternative routes both east and west of Rye Lane, heading north, and his journey took about one minute of extra time going each of those alternative routes. I am not a cyclist myself, and seeing cyclists on that truly ridiculous poorly signposted badly laid out bike lane by the Aylesham Centre entrance area, is so dangerous for you all. I hope that it is made clearer and more safer so pedestrians know not to stroll across it!
  5. Dawsons heights. The land in front. The Best.
  6. So homoeopathy is now a 'faith' MarkT? It will only work if you believe it will? I believe wine and ale helps. Maybe I am not believing it quite enough.
  7. Thank you. Looks very odd since all the others around it are untouched. But thanks for sharing your knowledge.
  8. rch sorry, always doing that! This one.
  9. Hi rch. I photo'd these trees from the position of The Clockhouse towards the main entrance to the park. As you can see one of the trees has been severely trimmed whilst the others have been left. Any ideas why? Looks so odd. Lots of people were looking up at it today. I guess we're not quite on thread, or rather I have started another branch.... hanging on by a twig, etc etc etc.
  10. Dammn I thought this was an advert. Still, now we know the location.
  11. Not all filming is registered with the Council. It may be that it ought, but they probably want lots of money?
  12. Just to advise, the link is to the story and picture of a man who got into a woman's home in Southwark claiming to be a Council Worker. Anyone know him?
  13. bsand thanks for this post. I think it is inevitable this will be the case and it will help a lot of people. Let me give an analogy of a similar case. Actors now have access to on line casting forums. We have to put our details into it and experience and special skills etc. I was at a meeting with some experienced casting directors years ago. One said, "An online casting tool could be asked for, and supply, an actor who is 6ft, playing age 45 to 55, with juggling skills and speaks Welsh, but I could supply one at 5ft 11 inch who I know can act and is ready to play a lead role." The similarity to health situation is that it would be up to our doctors and consultants and, most importantly, us, to have the right to put in place all of our details and medical history into the AI which could take a long time. Remember that many mistakes are recorded as fact on GP and Hospital Records (I have successfully been able to amend though not allowed to erase...). But a human doctor who knows the patient well, knows that some types of patient respond to certain types of responses, which AI can never replicate. With the fear of hacking / inappropriate access into our medical AI accounts, would we have to waive our right to, for example, travel or health insurance if we refused them access to our AI records? Lots of future concerns there. But thanks for raising it!
  14. And now we all know. Love this page. Thanks for sharing.
  15. They were just testing to see if the spades were working...
  16. We have a big new surgery and health centre being built next to Dulwich Hospital. This should prove useful. Meanwhile, I spoke to one of the now-part-time doctors at my surgery recently and he said indeed he does come in on his days off to do the paperwork, or he would never get it done. Even on days he is working he will come in earlier and stay later to ensure all the paperwork is done. Also, consider the fact many come out of medical school after 7 plus years in sometimes hundreds of thousands of debt. Their salary will thus be decreased accordingly as they pay it back. I have worked as a 'simulated patient' for trainee GPs. For this you are given a script and a scenario and a full medical history which you have to learn. And then you are seen by about 10 different trainee doctors with an examiner in the room. You go in and state your situation, sometimes just the symptoms or sometimes underlying issues associated with symptoms. You have to be the same character for all the trainee GPs to be fair to them all, never helping them. I find it fascinating to see which ones are confident and spot on, as it were, and some poor souls just barely get a word out, they are so nervous. Most though, ask the right questions and get through to the medical cause. It's a hell of a day for them.
  17. Yes Renata, I feel sorry for those unable to walk any distance to the station. From the South some people could get the 484 to Denmark Hill instead. The pavements shall be open for people (NOT cyclists!) but knowing how busy, with the many buggies and double width buggies, people in wheelchairs and people trying to rush, it won't be any kind of fun. As previously mentioned the whole of the road shall not be blocked off; it will be blocked off in sections. That is to say it will always be blocked for the year, but not all of the road shall be totally blocked. I did ask the leader of the project if other utilities companies had been alerted so they could take advantage of the works so they could take advantage of the opportunity to improve their own utilities. And he said he had told everyone. BT TAKE NOTE!
  18. FYI if you do get a Saturday appt at the Lister, it is still an appointment, and I am grateful for it. There is a prescribing nurse there too. ie. with more qualifications, allowed to prescribe, so thus taking extra work from doctors. We are lucky to have it. The ability to see the doctor of your choice is rare these days. Continuity of care is very important I think especially for older people who feel they need to relate to someone where that in itself makes them feel better and more confident. But it is highly unlikely to happen unless you can afford the time with your illness to be able to plan ahead and also use EMIS (the online App; ask your receptionist about this if you don't already use it. You can order repeat prescriptions, make appts at certain times, even see the results of your tests.)
  19. At the meeting to discuss this, the Gas company manager said to one of the managers of the shops they would always be happy to allow delivery drivers to back down Rye Lane to make deliveries. Yes, the work will be in sections, but all the buses won't be able to get down there.
  20. Hi all. I saw big signs warning folks of this closure, appearing now on approaching streets. At the bus stop someone was overheard by me to say, "Well that's ridiculous. Maybe they made a mistake on the sign! They can't close this road for a whole year!" They can, they will, and they have to.
  21. Marmoleum is not the same as lino. It's tougher and needs a prepared resin layer underneath.
  22. That's outrageous! Thanks for the heads up. Rose
  23. Go to CAB Leaseholders and ask for a meeting. They are at 8 Market Square off Southwark Park Road. Ask for Gete Otite (pronounced Jeetay) or Helen Walpole. They will advise you. You need to make an official complaint (Stage 1), then if the reply is not sufficient you go to Stage 2 which means someone else replies. Then you have the right to go to Arbitration. Arbitration for leaseholders in Southwark is run by trained folk including other Leaseholders. I had a helluva case with them a few years ago and won a lot of money BUT would rather not have gone through 16 months of hell including severe illness as a result of the damp. When you get to Market Square for your meeting, the Home Ownership is two doors on the right before the CAB Leaseholders dept. That's the bit you want. I wish you well. Oh, and if you have not already, get a big folder, and make a record of every phonecall you have with anyone about this case, and confirm calls with emails. Keep all paperwork in date order. Then watch their face when you turn up to Arbitration with a big file confirming all their screw ups and lies.
  24. The news may have been in the papers for the last two weeks but very few people read newspapers. I am glad that it is not happening at the same time Rye Lane is to be closed for a year. What, Rose? Rye Lane is to be closed for a year? Are you nuts? No, folks. No. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1981497
  25. We had marmoleum and a great colourful design too. Bought from and laid by Lordship Floors. Looks soooo good.
