  1. Just a little bit of research for my funeral of a lady who used to work there many years ago. Any memories would be gratefully received. The way it has been described to me thus far was as the Biba of East Dulwich! I learned it was on Lordship Lane where Foxtons now is. Thanks folks! Edited to correct its location!
  2. Yes I too saw DKH on BBC London News, as a car slid at an angle down the hill. Quite impressive really. The problem with grit and salt is that the snow covers it quickly and makes it useless again sometimes and the council can not know exactly when the snow is coming and then coming again. So you can not keep blaming them. Nahhhh go on. Keep blaming the council. It's what yer do. :)
  3. @Penguin68 they are called SuperRecognisers. There was an online test and I scored very highly to my amazement. The Council can not afford CCTV; rather they would prefer to hand the management of parks to "Friends of...." organisations. It's a good rumour though. I also heard that the Council are thinking of spending millions to change their logo from the friendly handwritten style they have now, to a ComicSans style.
  4. I am so sorry to read this. I have just been awarded a Cleaner Greener Safer award to get some bars and rails installed on a motorcycle parking bay near me, so bikers can attach bikes with Dlocks and chains, but of course if people want to steal bikes they will. Also sorry to hear about the police not seeming to give a brown one...
  5. I have found two from an ebay supplier, a bit more expensive because my current squirrel proof bird feeders are not parakeet proof. Go on and look for The Nuttery and see what you like there. One has a lid as wide as the whole bird feeder itself so the nuts don't get wet and mouldy if the birds have found other sources... The parakeets managed to get their thin necks through the outer holes and grab nuts for its mates...
  6. If you find yourself with Infinity go for it all. We have been told about the new GFast thingy, which is something that can be planted within - say - a block which gives superfast lots of mbps. But BT Openreach - it's beyond their reach to get this to us in SE15 yet. https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2017/12/openreachs-g-fast-ultrafast-broadband-pilot-covers-390000-uk-premises.html
  7. Does anyone have a bright yellow paint spray can to spray around the edges of the holes in this area? Just rode home on motorcycle in the dark. Fortunately swerved around them but fortunately nothing coming towards me, or I may have had to have braked and gone into it. And maybe fallen off, hurt self, sued council etc etc. So if anyone can paint spray that'dbe fab. I have now reported this to council too.
  8. Couple of leading questions in there! Done.
  9. Done but yes still said invalid, but understand that's for Greenwich. Might concern some who do not read your message though about it.
  10. I live on the road called Peckham Rye but not on the SE22 side which is nuts that they are calling one of the wards Peckham Rye Ward. And as for affecting house prices why on earth would it affect them? Do YOU care what ward you are in (and what they are called) when you move?
  11. Lucky peterstorm1985. We have BT but only one point five megabytes per second. Spelled out in full for effect. To be fair it is constant and works well at 1.5mbps and this speed does not seem to affect our BT Vision telly watching or playback at all. Oh and I am just on the SE15 side of Peckham Rye Park. My neighbours however have BT Infinity, but it won't stretch to us.
  12. Everyone seems to begin their sentences with the word, "So.." these days specially on Radio when answering questions from the interview. Madness! But to answer to the OP, "Buck yer ideas up" / "Buck yerself up". Said by my grandmother who had no sensitivity whatsoever!
  13. We may go but not sure yet. But we are going on public transport if we go. So we can have a drinkee and a wander around the area and maybe do the Emirates Airline from Greenwich.... I asked but they won't let you ride a bike on to that! Ha!
  14. This so call Labour council undersold to lendLease who now have blocks built around Elephant & Castle one of which was in the press for having been full of flats sold to people from out of this country. All this council is interested in is getting the relevant service charges. Why would anyone be in Favour of a high rise block where flats will cost ?1m and not go to local people. We must also redefine what local people means, I suppose. People who have been here 10+ years? I am aware of a few friends who have kids who were on the housing list and have been moved to Medway Towns and Thanet. Meanwhile on Peckham Rye is a new block part of which has an 'affordable' element, outside of which sit two men all day and night on Firewatch as apparently this block has been listed as being unsafe. I suspect it's not the same men all day and all night.....
  15. natty01295 I think we get the message. We can do nothing about it. Go to the Patient & Liaison Service as we can't do anything but slowly get annoyed at your repetitive postings.
  16. Ohhh thanks for the correction Blah Blah. Genuinely. So, not my side NIMBY etc etc etc..... lol Having said that if it was a rock concert I'd cancel a holiday!
  17. Yup, cause annoyance waste electricity radiation etc. Some books would be good. But I asked once and magazines can spread germs so can't do that! And ditto life saved a few times there.
  18. PLEASE correct the opening title. It's not Peckham Rye Park (which is the fenced bit that gets locked at night and where the lake, English, American and Japanese Gardens are). It's Peckham Rye Common :D
  19. I am sorry to read of the negative posts. People with axes to grind. I have mentioned my two ideas before to KCH itself but since a Governor may be reading this, (I am a Member of KCH but no time to do governor work so hats off to you!) maybe it could get through that way. 1) I have to have an ointment on my skin to numb it before procedures including injections. A small tube of this cream is made out to the ward and not the patient. Then the nurse opens it, applies the cream to my arm, puts the lid on THEN HAS TO DISPOSE OF THE REST OF THE CREAM. This is nuts. 2) Every time a letter is written to our doctors, following a consultation, a copy is sent to us. This copy letter comes with a separate sheet of paper telling you that it is the Trust's policy to send copy letters to patients. That information could be put at the bottom of the original letter, or on the back, saving hundreds thousands ( ? ) of sheets of paper. These are two tiny examples of wastage. I am sure there are many more.
  20. Please note elsewhere BoosBoss post regarding a survey about motorcycle secure parking and ground anchors.
  21. I have just applied for a Cleaner Greener Safer Award, BoosBoss, for the already existing motorcycle parking bays, where we live, to have rails installed along them so motorcycles can be safely secured with D-locks or chains. Just thought you would like to know :) @RobertF Ground anchors are not really good if you only have D-locks. I only have D-Locks. I raised with the ED Councillor the fact that the really useful bike park on North Cross Road which has a rail for chains and DLocks, is unavailable for bikers on Saturdays when the market is on, and to my knowledge there are no other bike parks near by. Thanks for the link. Shall complete it.
  22. Interesting. I am self employed but would sort of consider it my civic duty to do it. Yet lived in my years 34 years and NEVER not ONCE been asked!
  23. Meanwhile, on the Isle of Thanet (Margate Broadstairs Ramsgate and various other places within), Thanet District Council (TDC) - also anti-dog - have taken their own action to prevent good people walking their dogs on the beaches. During the Summer, dog owners are not allowed to walk their dogs on most of the beaches, day time. My friend writes: "Now, this: So TDC have decided to implement a TOTAL ban for dogs on Stone Bay on the usual 1st May-end of September time frame, for next year, as opposed to the 'no dogs between 10-6' and sneaked it through planning...... there is a long list of other beaches this will also apply to." What IS it with councils blanket-punishing all dog owners because of the bad behaviour of a few?
  24. Peckham Glass corner of Heaton Road (by Co-op building). We bought quite a bit from there for our kitchen. Great service.
