  1. I live on the road called Peckham Rye but not on the SE22 side which is nuts that they are calling one of the wards Peckham Rye Ward. And as for affecting house prices why on earth would it affect them? Do YOU care what ward you are in (and what they are called) when you move?
  2. Lucky peterstorm1985. We have BT but only one point five megabytes per second. Spelled out in full for effect. To be fair it is constant and works well at 1.5mbps and this speed does not seem to affect our BT Vision telly watching or playback at all. Oh and I am just on the SE15 side of Peckham Rye Park. My neighbours however have BT Infinity, but it won't stretch to us.
  3. Everyone seems to begin their sentences with the word, "So.." these days specially on Radio when answering questions from the interview. Madness! But to answer to the OP, "Buck yer ideas up" / "Buck yerself up". Said by my grandmother who had no sensitivity whatsoever!
  4. We may go but not sure yet. But we are going on public transport if we go. So we can have a drinkee and a wander around the area and maybe do the Emirates Airline from Greenwich.... I asked but they won't let you ride a bike on to that! Ha!
  5. This so call Labour council undersold to lendLease who now have blocks built around Elephant & Castle one of which was in the press for having been full of flats sold to people from out of this country. All this council is interested in is getting the relevant service charges. Why would anyone be in Favour of a high rise block where flats will cost ?1m and not go to local people. We must also redefine what local people means, I suppose. People who have been here 10+ years? I am aware of a few friends who have kids who were on the housing list and have been moved to Medway Towns and Thanet. Meanwhile on Peckham Rye is a new block part of which has an 'affordable' element, outside of which sit two men all day and night on Firewatch as apparently this block has been listed as being unsafe. I suspect it's not the same men all day and all night.....
  6. natty01295 I think we get the message. We can do nothing about it. Go to the Patient & Liaison Service as we can't do anything but slowly get annoyed at your repetitive postings.
  7. Ohhh thanks for the correction Blah Blah. Genuinely. So, not my side NIMBY etc etc etc..... lol Having said that if it was a rock concert I'd cancel a holiday!
  8. Yup, cause annoyance waste electricity radiation etc. Some books would be good. But I asked once and magazines can spread germs so can't do that! And ditto life saved a few times there.
  9. PLEASE correct the opening title. It's not Peckham Rye Park (which is the fenced bit that gets locked at night and where the lake, English, American and Japanese Gardens are). It's Peckham Rye Common :D
  10. I am sorry to read of the negative posts. People with axes to grind. I have mentioned my two ideas before to KCH itself but since a Governor may be reading this, (I am a Member of KCH but no time to do governor work so hats off to you!) maybe it could get through that way. 1) I have to have an ointment on my skin to numb it before procedures including injections. A small tube of this cream is made out to the ward and not the patient. Then the nurse opens it, applies the cream to my arm, puts the lid on THEN HAS TO DISPOSE OF THE REST OF THE CREAM. This is nuts. 2) Every time a letter is written to our doctors, following a consultation, a copy is sent to us. This copy letter comes with a separate sheet of paper telling you that it is the Trust's policy to send copy letters to patients. That information could be put at the bottom of the original letter, or on the back, saving hundreds thousands ( ? ) of sheets of paper. These are two tiny examples of wastage. I am sure there are many more.
  11. Please note elsewhere BoosBoss post regarding a survey about motorcycle secure parking and ground anchors.
  12. I have just applied for a Cleaner Greener Safer Award, BoosBoss, for the already existing motorcycle parking bays, where we live, to have rails installed along them so motorcycles can be safely secured with D-locks or chains. Just thought you would like to know :) @RobertF Ground anchors are not really good if you only have D-locks. I only have D-Locks. I raised with the ED Councillor the fact that the really useful bike park on North Cross Road which has a rail for chains and DLocks, is unavailable for bikers on Saturdays when the market is on, and to my knowledge there are no other bike parks near by. Thanks for the link. Shall complete it.
  13. Interesting. I am self employed but would sort of consider it my civic duty to do it. Yet lived in my years 34 years and NEVER not ONCE been asked!
  14. Meanwhile, on the Isle of Thanet (Margate Broadstairs Ramsgate and various other places within), Thanet District Council (TDC) - also anti-dog - have taken their own action to prevent good people walking their dogs on the beaches. During the Summer, dog owners are not allowed to walk their dogs on most of the beaches, day time. My friend writes: "Now, this: So TDC have decided to implement a TOTAL ban for dogs on Stone Bay on the usual 1st May-end of September time frame, for next year, as opposed to the 'no dogs between 10-6' and sneaked it through planning...... there is a long list of other beaches this will also apply to." What IS it with councils blanket-punishing all dog owners because of the bad behaviour of a few?
  15. Peckham Glass corner of Heaton Road (by Co-op building). We bought quite a bit from there for our kitchen. Great service.
  16. Can the OP change the title? It's not tonight anymore... Meanwhile I LOVED what they did. Just could not believe that plot of land cost nearly ?1m!
  17. And PLEASE don't forget to always report crimes no matter your opinion of the police. Even if you think they won't do anything, if people do not report crimes then the government can say "There's no crimes! Let's reduce the fuding for police!" On a related matter, I am applying for a CleanerGreenerSafer Award funding. Near me are several designated motorcycle bays but they are lacking rails with which to attach D-locks to. (Ground Anchors are all very well but people with D-Locks can't use them easily if at all.) The local councillor says that you can apply for ground anchors. But I am applying for CGS funding so that the designated motorcycle bays can be made safer for bikers. Apply for them!
  18. I often develop a hard slightly painful lump under the skin after my flu jab (I have pre existing condition) but this year did not get one. Yay! Totally agree with advice above, from blahblah. And I think we in this country are so very lucky to get this service free.
  19. Oh that is so sad. She has contributed muchly. Also hope she beats it.
  20. Can we all contribute? Drs Roe, Iu, Ackland, and the others at the Nunhead Surgery. And the team who work at Peckham Rye Park to make it look as fab as it does, as well as the volunteers who work in the Community Wildlife Garden ;)
  21. I don't buy mine on line but I can happily recommend seeing (should you wish to travel that far) the lovely Charlotte who is the manager and contact lens expert, who was at Lewisham and is now at Holborn branch of Boots Opticians. I followed her up there as it were, when she moved, as I am so impressed with her attention to detail and care. Also, I am a loyal kind of person and believe that continuity of care is important.
  22. I would also recommend joining LAS 2000 a voluntary organisation that will help and support when the council rips you off on overcharging and for charging for things they should not be doing. Google them for address.
  23. Not just one but two of them aged about 9 and 11, on bicycles, up Peckham Rye, carefully cycling on the pavement, and not only did they see someone coming towards them but they STOPPED till the pedestrian had passed! Then if that wasn't enough they wanted to cross the road! They actually got off their bicycles at this point! Can you imagine. Did they just stroll across amongst all the traffic all dangerous and scary like? Did they heck! NO! They walked the extra couple of yards and actually waited for the cars to stop at the zebra crossing! And they had to wait ages because car drivers can be evil and nasty, stupid and mean, of course. Yet when the traffic did stop - did our pesky evil selfish mean and thoughtless kids crawl across with their bicycles? NO! They walked swiftly across AND EACH OF THEM THANKED BOTH CARS EITHER SIDE FOR HAVING STOPPED FOR THEM! I tell you, kids today, etc and so on. Their parents should be told of this. There were no supervising adults in sight. I was shocked.
