  1. Blanket rules are there for ease and cheapness of control. They do not make us safer. Good education and regular personal driving tests say every 5 years (which would be expensive to administer and for which we would have to all pay), would be better. Blanket 20miles an hour does NOT make us better drivers. We may exceed a speed limit but we, as well advance-trained drivers, could argue that we were not driving at an inappropriate speed for the conditions we found ourselves in. Road bumps definitely do not make driving safer either. We are trained to look ahead, plan ahead, but meanwhile folks swerve to avoid the bumps. There is no sense in any of any councils' thinking. They just want money.
  2. I can categorically confirm that the woman who had been enquiring after her missing Twiggy (who we still miss desparately) has NOT taken this Marsden Road cat. Please accept this. Thank you.
  3. Just a thought, without having read all the above, it looks too perfectly round to be that old. But what a find!
  4. Blah Blah thank you so much for linking Twiggy to this thread. She indeed is still missing and when she is found the thread shall be alerted accordingly. We are looking into this. kaz@263 thanks for posting. x
  5. No maybe not but if you google them you can find their email address and maybe phone numbers, so you can contact them direct. Like others they may be on holiday, and two of the 3 are married to one another!
  6. Mine - despite my profession - is to be donated to the London Anatomy Office.
  7. Nope, it can't be. Twiggy has a mark on her white bit of her nose. SO close.
  8. Am dealing with this. It could be. Thank you. Have been away and I am dealing with this for Twiggy's owner.
  9. You can not reduce capacity, Cllr Barber. You get it to go elsewhere. And there really is not much of elsewhere. It is similar to pedestrianising Oxford Street to 'get rid' of all the busses. Will they simply disappear?
  10. Still missing and I WILL post when she is found or when we find out something/the worst. Not knowing IS the worst!
  11. On the SE15 side of Peckham Rye at the southern end are some flats for sale with great views.
  12. Hiya, if you see my thread for Twiggy there are a few excellent photos. It is my friend / neighbour's cat.
  13. Hi, whilst out looking for Twiggy (see other thread) I am sorry to report that a white cat was found dead on Rye Hill Estate. I told the Neighbourhood Vets who came and took him or her away to check if this cat had been chipped. So if you were the owner of this cat please contact the Neighbourhood Vet on Peckham Rye SE22 near junction of Barry Road. I am so sorry for your loss I really am!
  14. Twiggy is about 8 years old and went missing Sunday 24 July 2016 from Rye Hill Estate where she can often be seen hanging out with her three legged cat friend Spider (I know...!) She is chipped and speyed and wearing a blue flea collar. Please call 07852 556 748 - she has a very loving home and it is very much out of character that she should be away from home at all. Thanks folks!
  15. The photo is of a Quadron worker.
  16. I often thank the gardeners for the work they do. Then yesterday I had the opportunity to take this photo of one of them doing their thing amongst the greenery. Thank you gardeners!
  17. Love this site. You ask and if they care they will answer.
  18. Just please look up now and again? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-36805615?post_id=10155711554065580_10157076663400580#_=_
  19. Someone I know got their cheque for their overpayment rebate and Southwark are charging a ?69 admin fee.
  20. Which is my point.
  21. LOVE the comment the councillor made about the rights of busses over other traffic. Meanwhile and since this time, the Oval area now has no bus lane, as the bus lane was sacrificed for dedicated cycle lanes. Obviously that was TfL and not Mr Barber. Anyway, good luck fixing this one again James.
  22. That really is an annoying bit of road, because the cars are all having to be in one lane, the outside lane, then they have to shove over when their lane has to turn right to Sydenham Hill. Some don't bother looking in the rear view mirror and on my motorbike I have nearly come a cropper (well I would have, had I not been doing just 30mph and paying attention), when the cars move lanes. There are a few like that, on East Dulwich Road towards Peckham Rye Park for example and that nuts bit of road where sometimes car drivers do not realise it's TWO WAY! Yikes. And in the middle of that mess is the entrance to Tescos and the garage. Life in the fast lane!
  23. s20 notices are for when they want to affect us. The OP wants to get herself a new door. I don't think it's relevant in this case.
  24. I would write to Leaseholders Citizens Advice Bureau for advice. They are at 8 Market Square on the Southwark Park Road. This situation sounds NUTS! I get that any council feels responsible for its own leaseholders safety and so on, but this is madness. Fight fight fight.
  25. Brilliant, and there was and may be still is a TinTin exhibition at Somerset House with accompanying shop goodies. My other suggestion would be tin plates tin mugs, wrap them all in Tin Foil?
