Oh my god I so can't wait for the opportunity to go. Did someone say "Full English"? Is there any ever reason to leave SE15 / SE22? No, seriously?

I live round the corner. It's absolutely lovely here. I have lived here 24 years and to quote a certain fictional character "It just keeps getting better and better." You are in the middle of Peckham Rye Park - (new cafe opening soon) with The Clockhouse pub on the other side (fabulous pub and friendly landlord in Laurence) - and the very beautiful overgrown Nunhead Cemetery which stuns the friends and visitors I may have stay over, when I haul them round for a walk on a Sunday morning. Meanwhile, in Nunhead you have some of the sweetest individual shops - from Wendy and Sonia in AG Flowers, Sopers the fish shop, the lovely butchers and Ayres the bakers, and so on, and all the lovely pubs along there too. And the not so lovely pubs. Nunhead Surgery at 58 Nunhead Grove has some of the friendliest doctors I have known (I have medical conditions so see them more than the average person maybe). I am sure others can add more, but you got me in a quiet moment and I never take for granted how lucky I am in life in even the little things. Hope that's a good start!

PeckhamRose replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
Oh dear really? I felt terribly embarrassed! I was SO looking forward to meeting everyone and just sit there quietly with lots of beer and enjoy the faces behind the names on here. Sounds like you all got quite a thang going....! -

PeckhamRose replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
Hi everyone, Sorry I could not stay but thanks for the warm welcome from those of you at the beginning when I was there. You will be pleased to know we have a replacement lead actor for our play and so next week sometime I shall post the poster and links to the website. Incidentally, can someone teach me how to type code so that I write the words COME SEE MY PLAY and then when you scroll over it, it's a link? Ta. -

What is the least rewarding/most boring job you've had
PeckhamRose replied to atila the gooner's topic in The Lounge
Funeral directors. Crap crap pay. Very humbling work - and the customers thanked me so much afterwards for sorting out the funerals for their loved ones. Left the job as self employed work took off, and did I mention the crap pay? Also once worked for a solicitors, pay great, but the egos and hypocrisy and sheer nastiness of the people I worked for meant I left after 3 months. -

"Some people are willing to wipe their feet on anything with WELCOME written on it." "Harm no-one - unless they ask you." "Trying to tell the difference 'tween lemon and lime, pain and pleasure, and the churchbells softly chi - i - i - ime!" All the above by Andy Partridge of XTC. -

page 2 public house (nunhead lane)
PeckhamRose replied to trytapas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hello. I live round the corner from you but tend to go to the Clockhouse - no telly and good music and great beer. Will your pub have wifi facility? If so I could spend afternoons there working! Will you be a football pub? Doesn't sound like it, which is good. -

Where are the Bicycle racks bay things on LL?
PeckhamRose replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh wow guess what. I asked the question originally because I did not think there were any motorcycle parks around that end of Lordship lane. But on North Cross Road there is a motorcycle park. Hoorah!! As you were.. -

Hi - quick one. I have to be at Dulwich Therapy Rooms tomorrow (Tuesday) to get me back sorted (HIGHLY recommend McTimoney Chiropractitioners) but my work timings mean I'll probably have to cycle there (even if I have to walk the bicycle back after treatment!) Are there any bicycle rack / bay things I can lock my bicycle to safely at that lower end of Lordship Lane? I rode the motorcycle up there specifically looking for bicycle bay/racks yesterday, but did not notice any. Maybe I was biking too fast! On the bicycle I may have noticed some. Anyway, any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi and welcome, What do you mean by good proper pub? Sawdust on floor? Everyone smoking themselves - and anyone nearby passively-so - to death? Appalling beer from just one brewery? The ladies drinking their half ciders out the back room with the kids in their prams? Do proper pubs not have televisions? Yeah - what dya mean by good proper pub? Just wonderin' like. :)

I'm like that with Apples and Cider. I once got totally embarrassingly sh1tfaced on Weston's Scrumpy at what used to be the Phoenix and Firkin, and ever since then I can barely eat an apple let alone drink cider. JD & Coke is my fave drink though and I am determined never to get drunk on it for I would hate not to be able to drink it. Next year in USA one of the many places I am planning on visiting on the tour is the JD factory!! What Swear Word do you find the most offensive?
PeckhamRose replied to lozzyloz's topic in The Lounge
t w a t now THAT word just makes me laugh. And when someone calls me that, I just laugh and that then makes them angrier and call me something else. As someone once said, "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me..." No, it wasn't me. -
Contract killer (LOVED John Cusack when he said that's what he did in Grosse Point Blank) Um No, what I said before.

Not your common garden variety spiders (Lounged)
PeckhamRose replied to Catcher-in-the-rye's topic in The Lounge
There was an item about Spiders around the home, on The One Show last night on BBC1. I believe you may be able to watch it again. It was very interesting. I sound like a kid who's written an essay about "What I did on my holidays..." -
I rent two garages and so get this magazine in each of the rent statements AND get it sent separately to me. That way they can say they send it out to thousands of people when really they're sending LOADS out to just a few. Yes, it is full of things telling you of something exciting... about to happen last week. And it's always full of shiny happy faces often next to Kim Humphreys and it's a PR exercise (public relations not Peckham Rose) and it winds me up because when I paid the garage rent the other day in the cash office there were heaps of SE15 magazines with similar types of articles. I don't get sent those curiously. Even though I live in SE15. What are we to do with Southwark Council, eh?
