  1. Funeral directors. Crap crap pay. Very humbling work - and the customers thanked me so much afterwards for sorting out the funerals for their loved ones. Left the job as self employed work took off, and did I mention the crap pay? Also once worked for a solicitors, pay great, but the egos and hypocrisy and sheer nastiness of the people I worked for meant I left after 3 months.
  2. "Some people are willing to wipe their feet on anything with WELCOME written on it." "Harm no-one - unless they ask you." "Trying to tell the difference 'tween lemon and lime, pain and pleasure, and the churchbells softly chi - i - i - ime!" All the above by Andy Partridge of XTC.
  3. I shall bring a heap of leaflets fliers thingies for the play ! Looking forward to meeting you all in the flesh and not a little bit nervous, but a great bit nervous!
  4. How about this - http://www.peckhamliteraryfestival.co.uk/ Sounds absolutely amazing with lots of links for you to browse through.
  5. Hello. I live round the corner from you but tend to go to the Clockhouse - no telly and good music and great beer. Will your pub have wifi facility? If so I could spend afternoons there working! Will you be a football pub? Doesn't sound like it, which is good.
  6. ........ when the graffiti is spelt correctly, and the signs telling people to not do graffiti are also spelt correctly.
  7. ... when the pound shop charges a guinea.
  8. Oh wow guess what. I asked the question originally because I did not think there were any motorcycle parks around that end of Lordship lane. But on North Cross Road there is a motorcycle park. Hoorah!! As you were..
  9. Thank you thank you thank you. Or should that be tytyty Where were we before TLAs (Three Letter Abbreviations) I only recognised the HSBC one!
  10. Hi - quick one. I have to be at Dulwich Therapy Rooms tomorrow (Tuesday) to get me back sorted (HIGHLY recommend McTimoney Chiropractitioners) but my work timings mean I'll probably have to cycle there (even if I have to walk the bicycle back after treatment!) Are there any bicycle rack / bay things I can lock my bicycle to safely at that lower end of Lordship Lane? I rode the motorcycle up there specifically looking for bicycle bay/racks yesterday, but did not notice any. Maybe I was biking too fast! On the bicycle I may have noticed some. Anyway, any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.
  11. Hi and welcome, What do you mean by good proper pub? Sawdust on floor? Everyone smoking themselves - and anyone nearby passively-so - to death? Appalling beer from just one brewery? The ladies drinking their half ciders out the back room with the kids in their prams? Do proper pubs not have televisions? Yeah - what dya mean by good proper pub? Just wonderin' like. :)
  12. I'm like that with Apples and Cider. I once got totally embarrassingly sh1tfaced on Weston's Scrumpy at what used to be the Phoenix and Firkin, and ever since then I can barely eat an apple let alone drink cider. JD & Coke is my fave drink though and I am determined never to get drunk on it for I would hate not to be able to drink it. Next year in USA one of the many places I am planning on visiting on the tour is the JD factory!! 13. t w a t now THAT word just makes me laugh. And when someone calls me that, I just laugh and that then makes them angrier and call me something else. As someone once said, "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me..." No, it wasn't me.
  14. Contract killer (LOVED John Cusack when he said that's what he did in Grosse Point Blank) Um No, what I said before.
  15. There was an item about Spiders around the home, on The One Show last night on BBC1. I believe you may be able to watch it again. It was very interesting. I sound like a kid who's written an essay about "What I did on my holidays..."
  16. I rent two garages and so get this magazine in each of the rent statements AND get it sent separately to me. That way they can say they send it out to thousands of people when really they're sending LOADS out to just a few. Yes, it is full of things telling you of something exciting... about to happen last week. And it's always full of shiny happy faces often next to Kim Humphreys and it's a PR exercise (public relations not Peckham Rose) and it winds me up because when I paid the garage rent the other day in the cash office there were heaps of SE15 magazines with similar types of articles. I don't get sent those curiously. Even though I live in SE15. What are we to do with Southwark Council, eh?
  17. The Surrendered Wife. No, honestly.
  18. Writer and actor and (to actually earn money) I work from home in copyright law. Just about to have a play of mine produced in a small but professional London theatre. Dead excited, me. I'll post a flier when the time's right....
  19. Peckham Rye East is the SE15 side. I love this: Peckham Rye is an area of London. It's also a park and a common. And two roads either side of that park and common are called Peckham Rye. The East Dulwich (west) side is SE22 Peckham Rye East is the Nunhead side, SE15. I should charge a fee for the amount of lost cab drivers I've given directions to! Stay with me. Doncha love it. Peckham Rye railway station used to be called Peckham but the station now called Queens Road was also called Peckham originally so they changed the one we know as Peckham Rye, to Peckham Rye. I think way more people should have been asked their opinions on this cycle scheme. All of those surrounding all of Peckham Rye Park and Common, for starters. > > Hi - what/where does Peckham Rye East mean ?
  20. "Screw The Roses, Send Me The Thorns."
  21. I agree with so much of Domiti anus (hoho) said on 1st page. And it's not the words that are used it's the intention behind their useage. Chris Rock said what the word "nigger" can mean, and that to some it is a swear word. I would not dream of using it even to those who Chris Rock describes as being worthy of the term! It saddens me greatly how the word "gay" is being used as a negative term, but maybe something will come along in its place. I love how kids have new words for things, like "got a touch of the reds" to mean someone (usually a woman) is angry and emotional. That's pretty inventive! But as for religiously offensive words, bring it on. I don't believe in Gods or religions - and so any religious terms that offend - well it's an easy target I suppose. Shouting "Jesus H Christ and ALL her children" can be fun, stand back and watch the fireworks. My favourite swear word is C*&T though, and it is great fun watching people's reactions when I suddenly use it. I remember years ago during a stand up routine Mark Thomas said Vagina Vagina Vagina for about 10 minutes and made the point beautifully. It's just words. If we all use them they lose their meaning and you can't be hurt by them. Kids think they're being really offensive by using the F word all the time but if everyone reacted as if they were saying the word Pepper, or Sofa, the words (and the kids) would lose the power immediately. I blame the parents. Cu&ts.
  22. When I wrote It's A Beautiful Life, I meant It's A Wonderful Life. Cried. Buckets. Love Story gets me too. She dies, you know. Sorry, did I spoil it? Spinal Tap - cried laughing. Does that count?
  23. When Bambi's Mum is shot. Oh gawd here we go....
