  1. Really enjoyed the whole thing, except indeed Hey Jude and I thoroughly agree that if he was going to be brought on, he should have just done The End. Loved the inclusion of Muse music and Thomas Heatherwick is a marvel. The camera beneath the copper things as they came together to make one big fire was so beautiful. And I need to go to his exhibition if it is still on at Wellcome Institute. His little bridge at Little Venice is great! The five rings coming from the cauldron was inspired too. Was a bit bleeeugh about the far too many verses of Abide with Me at the end of the section. When the House lifted and Tim Berners-Lee was underneath that was excellent. He GAVE it to the world. Excellent. Mr Bean was fun, not a problem with that. Oh Danny Boyle, the lights, the lights!!!!!!!!!
  2. Just read the thread and I hope you all have a wonderful time. Shall be watching on the telly and hope you all enjoy yourselves, and thank you for all the time and money you have all individually had to fork out to do this for the world.
  3. This is useful and indeed we have suffered a lot of holes in our beautiful real wool carpet which was a real treat for us when we got it. Problem is my lungs react very badly to all sprays and fumes, so Mr PR has been spraying the antimoth sprays when I go away. The phereomone sticky traps are really good, they attract the male moths. We have noticed however that the moths are happy to fly not just in the dark, but we see them around the living room now and again, and at night may settle on the ceiling. Put a glass full of water against the moth on the ceiling and it drops in. We have holes in the carpets that are not in dark places, but in light and open spaces. Another problem is that if you have plants they like to be near where it is damp, so when you water the plants they get near there too. We had a quote from someone through lordship Lane carpets to completely cover the whole carpet with anti moth spray of about ?150. We couldn't afford it and I would have to have been away from home for several days till the fumes subsided. I think our answer will be to get a cheap non-wool carpet. We live in flats and hardwood floors would be inappropriate I think!
  4. Good thread MM! A fave of mine from Quentin Crisp: "If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style." And from The Big Lebowski: "[Phucket] dude, let's go bowling".
  5. Good luck tonight caz! Just saw an interview with one of the dancers and she is a financial trader in her real life! xx
  6. Each surgery has to have a Patients Forum now. if you can not get to their meetings then at least put in a suggestion box for attention at said meeting your complaints, and ask for copies of minutes to see how they are addressed. My surgery is great and has morning AND afternoon telephone consultations and for repeat prescriptions they should not be necessary anyway unless it is time for a review. Just so's you know!
  7. "named and shamed"? The Co-op Support them!
  8. I heard a Canadian accent in Ayres, once, but that's the closest it got. Really? EVERY Monday evening?!
  9. So all the events may run late while people are in massive queues trying to get their tickets? Oh no!
  10. Wetherspoons pubs. I worked for the architects when they first started and they were different and nice, but then they just got so big and 'corporate', and became upmarket creches. Good points above ????!
  11. I would use the Post Office, every time.
  12. NewNun that is so sad and of course now you have heard he died you will be incredibly sad and upset as you would have been one of the last people to see him and you would have done everything you could. Maybe you should talk to someone who knew him as you could be a comfort to one another. Maybe PM bonniebird or someone who knew him. It is indeed very sad. PS for anyone that knows me and mine, it wasn't 'my' David.
  13. Yet he calls himself Esquire. Technically doesn't that mean he's been to university?! Anyway, at least he contributed. Come back and let's discuss this and found out what we all agree with, not to concentrate on our differences R J Moore!
  14. Go into the library or Chener Books. John Beasley is bound to have written about it in one of his books!
  15. I saw them too and thought the same thing. 'Cept I did not know what they were called. Beautiful aren't they! Next to the pop up Dog!
  16. I agree with the above, and also, trust your instincts! And watch the Mike Leigh Film Happy Go Lucky for how not to do it!
  17. It lasted about 20 seconds. It returned before we found the torch. It was a bit like escalators breaking down and everyone standing there saying "What do we do now?"!
  18. Mr PR downloaded the technology, and spends his evening doing just that. You have to spend time ensuring that each track is one track and not the whole side of the vinyl thing, but it's worth it. It's called AUDACITY. Hope this helps.
  19. Cats are mostly nocturnal. It's what they do. And not all of them have owners.
  20. Can Highly recommend Long Day's Journey Into Night. Not a happy play by any means, but a wonderfully written and acted piece and starring David Suchet and Laurie Metcalfe. Laurie Metcalfe was the reason I booked. She is wonderful. Saturday night, we had Balcony seats and were upgraded two balconies below to Dress Circle.
  21. I looked on the website and it wasn't in Peckham, but through Camberwell. Hope I read it wrong.
  22. Nope, not Squash or Crazy Golf!
  23. A day in May. I got four tickets for the Shard!
  24. Your starter for ten: There is one 'sport' British men and women are often in the top five in the world at, but is boring to look at and will never become an Olympic sport. What is it? Oh, and Jubilympics bores me to tears too. Happy for those it makes happy though. Honest.
