  1. Oh well done for scaring him off. Description please. No, of HIM! Old young black white tall short what? And tell the local Safer Neighbourhood Team NOW they may catch him.
  2. Agree one can't upload a photo ito the body of the message anymore. Just has to lie there as an attachment for others to open and see. Any reason for this? Lack of money for the bandwidth or something?
  3. Went for a lovely walk last weekend around the beautiful streets of East Dulwich admiring people's lovely front gardens. Saw this and had to share! Whoever's it was, the snail looked happy! Trying to paste the actual photo in the message but can't remember how to do it anymore or the rules have changed! Never mind.
  4. We're thinking about it. So thanks!
  5. There's going to be a Marks and Spencers in Nunhead? ;)
  6. I do not know if it is proud of being British. What about being proud of being English? Or UK-ish? European-ish? It's just that I was born on that bit of land. Someone else was not. And that's it. I have blue eyes. Hoorah for Team Blue Eyes! Proud of my blue eyes. I have been drinking gin.
  7. I also intend to visit and think more about it, but why - whoever suggested above - does the London Cycling Campaign need to have anything to do with it?
  8. Come over, we're just as friendly. Ivydale is a long road, doesn't have a nice long shopping street nearby. This could be a problem if you want that. Nunhead Cemetery is your beautiful front yard, and Evelina Road on the north side is just lovely too. It may be more peaceful. But that depends on neighbours!

  11. And it all changes today Tuesday - as Central line is closed between Liverpool Street and the Olympics! Yikes!
  12. Are ASBOs being phased out? I do recommend rigorous reporting, and IDing where possible. Describe things like left handedness, right-handedness, marks on face or hands, bitten nails, anything and everything to identify individuals.
  13. Are they now building a high fenced play area for the kiddie's place in the ex toilet across the road?
  14. I sometimes smother the chicken in lemon and cover it with pepper, or sometimes smooth cranberry sauce over it, or even just maggi sauce. Oyster sauce works great too. All available in bigger sizes at the chinese supermarket Hanover Park. Then am encouraged to throw away the skin because that's the fat bit. Grrrr! Maggi sauce...... mmmmmmmmmmmm!
  15. I'm technically in Nunhead, but use this EDF forum, because it is of use and local enough to cover ED and Peckham and I have mates in Forest Hill who use it also. No big deal. I remember there was a Peckham Forum and that really sadly was a waste of space IMHO.
  16. "As every day of the Games is different, we will be sending you daily email travel alerts with advice about key hotspots to avoid the following day during the Olympic Games. Please plan ahead. Here is your daily travel information update for tomorrow, Monday 30 July. Tomorrow will be the busiest day of the Games at London Bridge; please avoid this station. If you are travelling to Kent, from platforms 1 - 6, you should avoid London Bridge National Rail station from 18:00 - 22:00 as it will be exit only. Southeastern and First Capital Connect customers are advised to board services from alternative stations such as Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Victoria or Blackfriars." Hi guys, TFL update for Monday 30th, you can get into their webpage and they'll update you every day, but thought this would be useful for some of you Monday. Rose x
  17. Really enjoyed the whole thing, except indeed Hey Jude and I thoroughly agree that if he was going to be brought on, he should have just done The End. Loved the inclusion of Muse music and Thomas Heatherwick is a marvel. The camera beneath the copper things as they came together to make one big fire was so beautiful. And I need to go to his exhibition if it is still on at Wellcome Institute. His little bridge at Little Venice is great! The five rings coming from the cauldron was inspired too. Was a bit bleeeugh about the far too many verses of Abide with Me at the end of the section. When the House lifted and Tim Berners-Lee was underneath that was excellent. He GAVE it to the world. Excellent. Mr Bean was fun, not a problem with that. Oh Danny Boyle, the lights, the lights!!!!!!!!!
  18. Just read the thread and I hope you all have a wonderful time. Shall be watching on the telly and hope you all enjoy yourselves, and thank you for all the time and money you have all individually had to fork out to do this for the world.
  19. This is useful and indeed we have suffered a lot of holes in our beautiful real wool carpet which was a real treat for us when we got it. Problem is my lungs react very badly to all sprays and fumes, so Mr PR has been spraying the antimoth sprays when I go away. The phereomone sticky traps are really good, they attract the male moths. We have noticed however that the moths are happy to fly not just in the dark, but we see them around the living room now and again, and at night may settle on the ceiling. Put a glass full of water against the moth on the ceiling and it drops in. We have holes in the carpets that are not in dark places, but in light and open spaces. Another problem is that if you have plants they like to be near where it is damp, so when you water the plants they get near there too. We had a quote from someone through lordship Lane carpets to completely cover the whole carpet with anti moth spray of about ?150. We couldn't afford it and I would have to have been away from home for several days till the fumes subsided. I think our answer will be to get a cheap non-wool carpet. We live in flats and hardwood floors would be inappropriate I think!
  20. Good thread MM! A fave of mine from Quentin Crisp: "If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style." And from The Big Lebowski: "[Phucket] dude, let's go bowling".
  21. Good luck tonight caz! Just saw an interview with one of the dancers and she is a financial trader in her real life! xx
  22. Each surgery has to have a Patients Forum now. if you can not get to their meetings then at least put in a suggestion box for attention at said meeting your complaints, and ask for copies of minutes to see how they are addressed. My surgery is great and has morning AND afternoon telephone consultations and for repeat prescriptions they should not be necessary anyway unless it is time for a review. Just so's you know!
  23. "named and shamed"? The Co-op Support them!
  24. I heard a Canadian accent in Ayres, once, but that's the closest it got. Really? EVERY Monday evening?!
