  1. A point I shall raise is the fact I had to call police at 2.20 AM the other night and was put on an answerphone!!! The operator came back to me and was able to put me through to another number and to be fair the police arrived at the situation 5 mins later. Even so, that was scary. Hope some of you can come to this meeting.
  2. and http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?20,file=57341 and this was in one of your gardens!
  3. Lived here nearly 30 years and it's a gem. May I also recommend AG Flowers - Wendy who works there has become a friend over the years I have been a customer and they are so helpful and friendly. Sopers don't just sell fish. They will advise on how to cook it if you ask them, and for someone like me that is so useful! Short walk to the north end of Peckham Rye Common so links to all the rest of the world. Welcome to kyoto! Oh oh oh and you also have The Best Doctors Surgery in Southwark. The Nunhead Surgery is at 58 Nunhead Grove and they retain 020 numbers, humans answering the phone, and are an independent NHS practice not owned by some American conglomeration.
  4. So you'll qualify as a brander in advertising. What do you want to specialise in? Have a great life and travel and enjoy yourself! And when you get down here to East Dulwich I hope you will have a lovely welcome and enjoy all the green areas and architecture this area has to offer. It's surrounded by more local great areas and on it goes!
  5. The film maker students at Chelsea Art School have been making series of films all based on individual businesses and characters in Peckham. We get to see these films at the Peckham Plex. Each year we see about 10 or so different films each made by a separate group of students, so after 3 years there have been thirty of so businesses and characters covered. One of my particular faves was the guy that ran the launderette but clearly did not want to be filmed in the end and couldn't make up his mind whether it would be a good advert, or he may be identified in the end! Another fave was the people who run Oz's cafe and the people who run the chrome making factory on the Old Kent Road. We have watched and learned all about the characters and the companies and people of Peckham. One omission to my mind is the very wonderful woman who runs the motorcycle shop Honda Rider Motors, but she may be included in the next year's series of films, I don't know. So, PeckhamDocs, it has and is already being done. But go for it and make more!
  6. Can't help you in research but I would say loads of us go there to see the fireworks 5 Nov and at New Year's and there's a great atmosphere. I always take visitors there to see the views and it's soooo much better than Primrose Hill! It's one of my favourite places in London to see London! I look forward to hearing / reading your work and thanks computedshorty for the links!
  7. ... and some Belgian fruit beers now and again that aren't twice the price of other beers. (Like at EDT!) Looking forward to seeing you in there. Don't go past often but will definitely pay a visit. Will it still be primarily a sports pub?
  8. Oh well done for scaring him off. Description please. No, of HIM! Old young black white tall short what? And tell the local Safer Neighbourhood Team NOW they may catch him.
  9. Agree one can't upload a photo ito the body of the message anymore. Just has to lie there as an attachment for others to open and see. Any reason for this? Lack of money for the bandwidth or something?
  10. Went for a lovely walk last weekend around the beautiful streets of East Dulwich admiring people's lovely front gardens. Saw this and had to share! Whoever's it was, the snail looked happy! Trying to paste the actual photo in the message but can't remember how to do it anymore or the rules have changed! Never mind.
  11. We're thinking about it. So thanks!
  12. There's going to be a Marks and Spencers in Nunhead? ;)
  13. I do not know if it is proud of being British. What about being proud of being English? Or UK-ish? European-ish? It's just that I was born on that bit of land. Someone else was not. And that's it. I have blue eyes. Hoorah for Team Blue Eyes! Proud of my blue eyes. I have been drinking gin.
  14. I also intend to visit and think more about it, but why - whoever suggested above - does the London Cycling Campaign need to have anything to do with it?
  15. Come over, we're just as friendly. Ivydale is a long road, doesn't have a nice long shopping street nearby. This could be a problem if you want that. Nunhead Cemetery is your beautiful front yard, and Evelina Road on the north side is just lovely too. It may be more peaceful. But that depends on neighbours!
  16. For info. May be helpful for some... http://www.london.gov.uk/who-runs-london/the-london-assembly/assembly_investigation/crime-victims

  18. And it all changes today Tuesday - as Central line is closed between Liverpool Street and the Olympics! Yikes!
  19. Are ASBOs being phased out? I do recommend rigorous reporting, and IDing where possible. Describe things like left handedness, right-handedness, marks on face or hands, bitten nails, anything and everything to identify individuals.
  20. Are they now building a high fenced play area for the kiddie's place in the ex toilet across the road?
  21. I sometimes smother the chicken in lemon and cover it with pepper, or sometimes smooth cranberry sauce over it, or even just maggi sauce. Oyster sauce works great too. All available in bigger sizes at the chinese supermarket Hanover Park. Then am encouraged to throw away the skin because that's the fat bit. Grrrr! Maggi sauce...... mmmmmmmmmmmm!
  22. I'm technically in Nunhead, but use this EDF forum, because it is of use and local enough to cover ED and Peckham and I have mates in Forest Hill who use it also. No big deal. I remember there was a Peckham Forum and that really sadly was a waste of space IMHO.
  23. "As every day of the Games is different, we will be sending you daily email travel alerts with advice about key hotspots to avoid the following day during the Olympic Games. Please plan ahead. Here is your daily travel information update for tomorrow, Monday 30 July. Tomorrow will be the busiest day of the Games at London Bridge; please avoid this station. If you are travelling to Kent, from platforms 1 - 6, you should avoid London Bridge National Rail station from 18:00 - 22:00 as it will be exit only. Southeastern and First Capital Connect customers are advised to board services from alternative stations such as Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Victoria or Blackfriars." Hi guys, TFL update for Monday 30th, you can get into their webpage and they'll update you every day, but thought this would be useful for some of you Monday. Rose x
