Re the question on weekly tickets - the post says Customers claiming against quarterly, monthly or weekly tickets must have bought travel for at least 12 weeks between 24 April 2016 and 31 December 2016 to be eligible. So would assume yes. For those of us on pay as you go, it is clearly viewed that we could take one of the many other alternatives avoiding southern and therefore we weren't forced to pay for a service we couldn't use... Obviously misses the point that there is no real viable alternative, but I understand why the distinction has been drawn. -
Anyone with any experience of private speech therapy?
goldilocks replied to klove's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Our 3 year old also had pronunciation issues (pm me if you want to discuss as it depends what they are). We started speech therapy when he was 4 and went the NHS route as the referral seemed to come through reasonably quickly. He did make some progress but then went to reception class at a school with a speech therapist and she was amazing. Think what I'm saying is that 3 is still young and whilst it is good to get things checked out, it might not be the end of the world if you have to wait for the NHS (within reason) -
The answer is always 'more lego'

Disposable nappy recommendations?
goldilocks replied to Elenimh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I've found Sainsbury's 'little ones' to be as good as branded versions and a fraction of the cost. Realistically would try them out and see what works - also if they're leaking just go up a size - the weights on the outside of the packet are just a guide and mine (especially the boy) needed the next size up way before the weight limit. -
We've used a chimney balloon too in a previous flat. It worked well - just went with what was on the website and it was easy and effective. Would give it a go as a first option.

I've been making Delia's for a couple of years now - its great if you remember to make it in advance and wrap it up for a couple of weeks (in greaseproof then foil). I make it in a square tin though - a circular cake tin is just plain wrong! I'm a fan of the Yorkshire version though so might not suit everyone. Need to get on and make mine.

Tiny gym is ok for a 3 year old but the weekday classes tend to be more full of 18m - 3 years. I find that 3 is a tricky age for activities around this area as providers seem to assume that children will be at school nursery / preschool.

According to Southern's 'strike map', services to East Dulwich are 'green', indicating normal service although trains may be busier than normal! http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/strike/what-services-are-running/#impact5 Map link is about half way down the page. -
sleeping in car seat - head flopping forward
goldilocks replied to emilyr0se's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Are you using the seat forward or rear facing? If rear facing where abouts are the straps compared to her shoulder? We were having issues with my 3 year old and flopping over in her car seat but then realised I'd put the straps up a slot too far, and putting them back and maximising the recline fixed it. In terms of the head flop - is it just her head or does her body flop over too and outside the shell of the seat. The first is safe enough for most older kids but if they fall outside it isn't. Have also used the Trunki Yondi for my kids - my youngest quite likes it, my older one doesn't. Worth a go anyway as not expensive. -

How to get to the British Museum?
goldilocks replied to Dulwich Born And Bred's topic in The Family Room Discussion
ok - its a bit of a walk - I'd recommend the 176 in that case depending on where you are. Would also agree that City Mapper is good for options re changing busses too. -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
goldilocks replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you - hopefully that will be more successful than when I reported huge piles of horrible dog poo outside East Dulwich station last week and got a response today saying someone would look into it within 48 hours! I've replied saying not to bother, I'm pretty sure its been wiped all over the surrounding pavements by now. -
How to get to the British Museum?
goldilocks replied to Dulwich Born And Bred's topic in The Family Room Discussion
With a buggy I've done the St Pancras and walking route - its not too far and its a nice walk. Otherwise the 176 is fine if you are happy to sit on the bus for around 1 hr - which if you take into account walking between train and tube connections etc isn't too bad. -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
goldilocks replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James - part of the play equipment at Goose Green has been broken for a number of months now - on the section that is closest to Adys Road. One of the handles to swing from on the wooden climbing frame has been removed (either purposefully or through vandalism) so there is now just one remaining. Would be nice if it could be reinstated so wondered if there were any plans or timeline on this? (as it didn't happen as part of the other renovations which have been great - especially in terms of removing the muddy swamp by the wooden bridge and stepping stones.) -

Advice: wetting bed, 4 year old not waking up
goldilocks replied to Fijifish's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'd just try to encourage him back into pull up pants as the changing in the night is so tiring for them. If he is still weeing in his sleep he just isn't ready yet - its not a 'developmental ability', rather driven by a hormone that they start making at some point. 4 is still pretty young and not an age that not being dry at night is a concern. -

In addition to the delays (of which there are too many and the information in relation to these is insufficient) we are still in the ridiculous situation of having a huge 20 minute gap between 8:30 and 8:50 in the morning peak. I fear that the memory of how things were with no trains will actually lessen pressure to improve what is still a substandard service on the basis 'its better than it was last month', forgetting that we used to have a train pretty much every 10 minutes. -
Someone has let their dog poo just outside East Dulwich station near the entrance to the London Bridge platform. Lots of poeple have clearly walked in it and it's pretty spread over the pavement. I've reported it on the email link on Southwark Street cleaning website but does anyone know if this actually prompts any action?

We got referred via the GP - I requested it just to eliminate hearing problems being the cause of my son's speech pronunciation issues on the advice of the speech therapist (non NHS speech therapist though). We asked the GP to refer in around October - think the referral came through for mid December - not super speedy, but not dreadful either. The appointment was at Sunshine house which is easy to get to and the staff were lovely with him.

Maclarens are great, easy and fold well - but if you have (or may have) more than 1 child, they are a pain to push one handed. If you do get one go for the quest or lighter as a travel option.

uniform help: button less trousers for boys?
goldilocks replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
John Lewis school trousers have the metal hook on the front which my son finds much easier. Although given they're elasticated at the back you don't actually need to unfasten them. Also think that Sansburys had elasticated ones with no fasteners last year.
