  1. By 6 you need a high backed booster. These are quite cheap generally. You just need to make sure that its a good fix re holding the lap part of the strap down. Generally you should check the manual re car seats in the front, and if you use it there try to have the front seat as far away from the front as possible -but its usually rear facing only that require airbags being disabled.
  2. Elm Green?
  3. For primary schools there is a question about siblings already at the school and you just fill in their name (and perhaps address). Isn't there an equivalent on secondary applications?
  4. I don't have personal experience of JAM, but my friends kids both attended for a number of years. They were collected from Dulwich Hamlet and seemed to really enjoy it. I remember they said that they liked the food better than the school after school care (think they got more) and they both enjoyed going. If we hadn't got school ASC we would have used JAM. The hours are longer too.
  5. you can order them from the library - if he's not keen might be the best answer Depending on how old he is, he might also like the Wimpy Kid books - they have lots of illustrations in a cartoon style to break up the text.
  6. Not sure where you'd get that from the opening message though Sue?
  7. missing the point of the thread - but were those pics from a security cam or from your phone? They're very clear!
  8. Wouldn?t it have made more sense to identify a location in ?need? of a bench before getting benches?
  9. I honestly think that you would eat into time too much by doing the riverboat and the magic garden unless you?re very early risers. The palace and gardens are pretty much a full day out. We go from Denmark hill to Clapham, Clapham to Hampton court (you generally have to change again, at Surbiton I think). I would check the maximum age for the magic garden though as they?ll definitely be at the upper end for it. The historic palaces is good value if you go to the tower and the magic garden more than once, bear in mind though that the Kew palace ticket doesn?t include gardens admission and you can?t grt there without paying entry and one of the other palaces is in NI!
  10. Its still baffling why they have 2 stores on Lordship Lane though within a few meters of each other - though assume that the lease will expire on the smaller one at some point
  11. I don?t think that there are any restrictions on taking foodstuffs and calpol in your suitcase. Just weight limits from the airline. If you were going to Australia it would be different! There are rules about what you can take in hand luggage in terms of liquids so just check you?re compliant on that front and anything you buy airside can be taken on too.
  12. I had a silent reflux-y baby who got on really well with the stretchy wrap sling - in fact she pretty much lived in it for about the fist 3-4 months of a her life (I got her out for feeds and nappy changes and not much else). They're amazing - hands free, she slept a lot, I even managed baking with my then 2 yr old. Try a moby wrap or similar - the stretchy ones are just easier with smaller babies. Maybe just a nappy for them in this weather though!
  13. Glamorous nails is much cheaper for shellac than that and when I last did it it lasted about 3 weeks! Give them a go
  14. Overall its great. We went on Saturday so it was extremely busy obviously. On a more normal weekend I suspect it would be more fun than it was on Saturday Agree with the comments re the climbing apparatus for the big slides - they're pretty inaccessible until you get to about 120 cm - not sure if the circular climbing net up is easier, but feels like it needs an alternative way up to the bridge as my (tall) 5 year old struggled to reach up and there were lots of kids in the same position. Some kind of fixed platform before they get onto the rope bridge would have been good. Other than that its nice, will be lovely once planted - kids need to get used to the fact that one of the circular swings goes in loops rather than fwd and back like goose green - had to 'encourage' waiting kids away from the swing when pushing my two.
  15. They're not digging up the pavement (this time) they're digging up the road (hence the need for the 3 way traffic controls). Anyway - as per above, its causing massive tailbacks so if you can avoid it, do!
  16. I?d consider their reluctance to provide terms and conditions hugely indicative of the issues people have had! Are they still charging an application fee?
  17. Hi James - wondered if you could get anything done about the wheelie bins on the pavement on East Dulwich Grove outside the flats next to the zebra crossing (opposite the constitutional club between Elsie and Derwent Grove. This crossing seems to be one where cars often don't stop when you're actually trying to use the zebra, and can't help thinking that having people constantly approaching the road and then not crossing because they are just trying to get round these bins on a narrow part of the pavement doesn't help. To the extent that these bins can't be stored off the narrow pavement, then an alternative option needs to be implemented for their rubbish removal.
  18. I'd like to know about the playground too - ie the one where the One O'clock club used to be. But if you have info on the playroom, that would be good too. Based on scraping around for articles mentioning the playground it seemed like 'early June' was the target, but there is nothing official on this.
  19. Myatts field also good but again jets rather than a paddling pool
  20. I think that most new machines should be able to cope with those requirements. We have a Bosch and they have a ridiculous filter thing whereby if anything gets stuck in it it seems to make the filter impossible to turn - so wouldn't recommend it with kids. When we replace it we'll go for something with a more sensible filter.
  21. Walked past the old Bonnie's shop yesterday and there seemed to be lots of retro place signs (like the old street signs) and hanging baskets so might be opening up as something else shortly.
  22. Thanks for following this up James but the 'solution' massively misses the point. It assumes that the overcrowding is only as a result of the sheer number of people using the station, rather than that people are entering and exiting the station via only 4 ticket gates - which even when working correctly will cause a degree of delay. The main problem with the access as people have pointed out is that commuters are both entering and exiting - meaning that there are only 2 gates in each direction (roughly) and it is this delay that leads to congestion on the stairways. If there was no 'pinch point' at the access gates then the congestion would not exist. There is no situation where the platforms themselves become dangerously overcrowded and even the passing on original stairs of passengers exiting and entering the station is not too bad (apart from when the queue to exit extends to the footbridge. This trial arrangement smacks of fare preservation at the expense of passenger safety and experience. Removing the ticket barriers would not make anything worse and to suggest so is disingenuous at best!
  23. Nimble arts also do half days for 4 year olds. Mine have both been going for full days since they were 4 and love it
  24. It doesn't have as wide a selection - but its way nicer and the sorbet doesn't have trans fats in it. Erratic opening hours though!
  25. Sainsburys is awful for boys clothes and the uniform is too unreliable. Marks and Spencer on the other hand is amazing for uniform. They have different fits of uniform (great for my tall skinny kids whereas Sainsbury's often way too wide for them) and you can click and collect it to Lordship Lane. The quality is really good too, way better than the John Lewis trousers I got the year before which bobbled straight away.
