  1. Sounds just like my boss! There surely can't be two of them??
  2. Me and the wife like a bit of sausage in cider.
  3. Legalbeagle - if mac/bubbachump does not want the wine you are offering, can I have it please? I don't need the bag as I will bring my own.
  4. cate - you said the tickets were not legally enforceable. That's wrong because there is a valid contract, and a valid contract is by definition legally enforceable. In practice, it may be difficult or undesirable to seek to enforce but that doesn't mean that it can't be enforced.
  5. cate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't think those tickets are legally > enforceable. Good contribution cate, thanks for that. Oh, and you're wrong incidentally. See those massive signs up saying that if you park there when you're not entitled to you get a fine? That forms a contract that you accept when you use the car park. Whether sainsburys would ever try to enforce is another question though.
  6. My wife was complaining about a strong smell of gas in the bedroom this morning. I blamed the baby but next time I'll make sure I blame the weasel too. Bad weasel.
  7. I had a frozen pipe this morning on my way to work, but then I realised my flies were open and once I'd done them up it soon thawed out.
  8. Came in this morning, roads were pretty clear and even DKH not proving difficult for the buses. But there didn't seem to be that many buses coming through, and because there are no trains, the ones that did make it were full to the brim and not letting more passengers on. Still, had a lovely stroll up through Burgess Park, hopped on a 363 the other side to LB and then walked up to Liverpool Street, stopping off for a Taylor St coffee on the way. All in, took around an hour and a half but much more pleasant than the normal scrum on the trains!
  9. National rail showing services from LB to ED still on time sadly, so no excuse for leaving the office yet.
  10. I think it's brilliant. I've actually written to the producers to see if I can license the format to set up a corporate team-bonding event company along the same lines. Sort of "I'm an estate agent, get me out of here!".
  11. The easyfix base can be attached with either Isofix or a seatbelt (or even both if you're paranoid!) - or at least ours can (it's a couple of years old but I'm sure the newer model would be the same). Which means you can leave the base attached and just take the seat itself in and out quite easily. Worth checking the new family base as well - they've brought one out that fits both the cabriofix and the next size car seat as well but not sure if it can be fitted both ways. One of the most annoying things about the old model is having to buy a new base when the little one outgrows the cabriofix.
  12. Take that to its logical conclusion, and you end up with 7am-6pm CPZs and one warden per zone.
  13. James - isn't the point that restricted parking for any length of time between say 9am and 6pm would have the effect of deterring commuters? So even half an hour of restricted parking at 10am would establish whether the problem is commuters or (more likely) that there are simply more cars owned by residents of most streets than there are spaces to park them, which is then exacerbated by a small increase due to commuter parking? Why would it have to be an hour over lunch?

    Driving

Why stop there? If you're doing 70, you're just as entitled to go in the fast lane. Arguably more so - the middle lane should be for people wanting to go slower than that.

    Driving

Are you sure that your speedometer is accurate though? When was it last calibrated? You may have thought you were doing 70 but were actually only doing 65.
  16. No idea, but if you find a way please let me know!
  17. Yes, but what about the trees?
  18. Sounds like this guy might be a window cleaner. You have to watch them - they're as bad as the clowns.
  19. Sounds like the problem is that the Sainsburys IT system prevents access to "social" websites, which in this case obviously includes the forum. Whilst admin's powers are legendary I doubt even he can change that! Maybe see if you could copy and paste the thread (or relevant extracts) into an email to the manager?
  20. Wax them anyway, and put some photos on here. Then sell them as rare breeds - you might make a profit.
  21. Is it cat hair that causes the allergy? You could try waxing them, or using Veet.
  22. I agree. Drunkenness, fare-dodging, speeding, immoral activity, and *Bob*'s sore bum. This sort of thing is all too common and ED is all the worse for it.
  23. And how long does it take to get to Brixton from Clapham. Seriously, I think there are wider ramifications here that need to be considered.
  24. Thank you felt-tip. I have written them the following letter: "Dear Sirs It has come to my attention from reading the east dulwich forum that one of your bus drivers (and i am certain that the problem must be more widespread than this but have no evidence, although it is certainly a fact) is in the habit of collecting members of the public out of hours and providing a free taxi service at the public expense. This seems to me to be immoral, fraudulent and dangerous and i believe the drivers should be punished or probably fired. It also appears that some drivers may require non-monetary payment for this "service". Is this permitted? If so, I should like to apply for a job. Kind regards peckhamboy cc Tessa Jowl MP" I strongly urge all readers to do the same.
