  1. ended up back here waiting for a kebab once, was a bizarre experience, I was drifting in and out of conciousness with some workmates trying hard to finish my beer without collapsing, and the owner kept offering to sell me coke
  2. More vomit spotted this morning, this time in Vale End, nearly stepped in it getting out of the car! White this time with no chunks...pasta?

I'm quite curious to see what london wetlands centre is like, although I still associate bad memories with it after having to spend a stupidly hot sunday afternoon helping a friend deliver leaflets advertising it through various people's doors in wandsworth, nearly passed out from the heat and was walking solidly for about 7 hours!
  4. to enforce the fine they must have photographic evidence of the parking ticket (the actual ticket not just the sleeve) placed somewhere on your windscreen or vehicle. Ask them to provide this evidence to you, if they cannot then they have no proof there was ever a ticket in there and you shoudl be able to get off it.
  5. I admit it, it's me louisa, now please tell me where you keep your laptop/keyboard so next time I can vomit onto that, preventing you from posting absolute balls all over the forum

"needs nuking" - best get in me bunker then, please shut up louisa, from the way you are talking about peckham it sounds like you've never lived there and don't know anything about the place

Deepest peckham dweller - have and do sometimes still buy stuff from there
  10. and what is it about brixton that makes it such a shit hole? Ok it may have some not particularly beautiful houses in the central bit of it, but there are a lot of nice streets and good places to eat, plus there are plenty of decent bars and even a couple of nightclubs. the market is quality as well
  11. jesus, didn't realise there were so many alternative uses for yogurt, what's next - crunch corner cures leprosy?
  12. DJKillaQueen Wrote: It still has pubs that don't rip you off > for a start...... Do you ever go to the effra hall tavern on Kellett Road? Quality pub, always playing wicked music with live jazz most weekends, nice crowd and good fun atmosphere there. Also double measures in all drinks as standard, for the same price as a single elsewhere! If you head down make sure to try the jerked pork, delicious

Ah well...I'll admit middle age > and go somewhere else...ha ha As some have already said, bouncers are a legal requirement of many licenses for pretty much all bars, even if they are not entirely necessary, there are plenty of bars on the lane that don't have poeple who need "protecting from themselves" as customers, but still have bouncers as they are required ot in order to retain their licenses.

  18. 50 quid for 24 hours does seem a bit steep, guess they're more intended for short journeys but even so. Also I see your point about the bus and tube pass, but I think the idea is to get people on a bit of a health kick whilst travelling around and also during the summer I'd much rather be outside on a bike than cooped up in a hot stuffy bus.

  20. I live in Peckham and used to go to this sometimes when it started up (I think about 5 or 6 years ago) - there did used to be a lot of stalls and a fair few people around each time, so promotion was by word of mouth but this seems to have dropped off now. Personally I think it is in quite a good spot already, peckham rye is a nice location but quite close to East Dulwich which already offers these kind of goods at North Cross road market, and there are already market stalls in and around rye lane on the weekend. Peckham Library is a good spot as it's easy for people who live in north and central peckham (who aren't so close to peckham rye etc.) and is a large space which lots of people spend time around during the weekend. I think a little promotion on the southwark council website or in the southwark weekender or something would probably do the trick
  21. thought it might end up like this, I think when they started it in paris they had a lot of similar issues as well as problems like lots of bikes parked in the dock stations at the bottom of hills and none at the top! I guess like you say a redistribution service would be a good idea, load them all into a truck and drop them off back where they started

  23. I've heard that when this happens, a quick dip into a pot of yogurt solves the problem. although you then have a new problem of ruined yogurt...
  24. like everyone else has said, walk for about 10 minutes then get a 37, minimum hassle!
  25. if you fancy a night on the tiles there is always something good on at the volks and there are loads of great bars in those archways under the main promenade, really nice as you can spill out onto the beach if you feel like it. during the day the lanes are good for a bit of shopping, and there are lots of good places to eat and drink. I know a pub that does THE BEST roast I have ever tasted (better than mum's - is it sacralige to say that?), but can't remember the name, will try and find it out from my mates that live there.
