Dulwich Fox - that's antibac, not antiviral. It won't do the trick. You can't beat stop and water. You're probably better off decanting the contents, sticking the plastic cartons in the sink with w/up liquid and hot water then washing your hands thoroughly. 2. I don't think this is true. Definitely not 90%. I agree many don't make any effort, which is wrong, of course. Everyone should be making an effort but sadly they don't. The problem with the joggers who don't do it is that they're huffing and puffing. On my dog walk today, one woman ran past me, from behind, very close and started coughing immediately after she'd passed, so I had to walk in to whatever she had coughed up, trying to avoid the slipstream. Revolting. I think there's a certain arrogance that some (not all) joggers have, where they believe they are better because they are "fitter" (though let's not talk ab out what it does to people's hips/knees over time.) They're the pits. siousxiesue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 'But the reality is that 90% of other pavement > users (walkers, runners, dog-walkers) just do not > reciprocate this in any way whatsoever... not even > moving 1ft towards the inside of the pavement. > Some even continuing to walk side-by-side.' > > I've noticed this most of all. 3. Yeah. Definitely over the joggers now. They need to ban it. A small and definitely unscientific count over the last 4 days of those seeking to self-distance came in at a depressing 40% on my walks. Head count of around 45 joggers. I've jumped into the road too many times to be tolerant any more.
  4. I find myself agreeing with Dulwich Fox. Wonders never cease.
  5. I resisted this impulse for a while but I think they need to ban jogging for a while. Just too many behaving badly. I don't like bans but it's getting out of hand now. Every time I leave the house for the daily dog/self walk, there are at least 4 or 5 examples of irresponsible behaviour. It's too much.
  6. I did DKH on Thursday and it's much more civilised now it's one person at a time. The queue was out on to Dog Kennel Hill but took about 25 mins and once inside (give or take the odd person who STILL doesn't have a clue about social distancing)it was an easy experience. Yes, they don't have everything but got most pf what we needed. All praise to the shopworkers.
  7. There are a couple of threads on this but you're right. Some of them are awful.
  8. You're a very negative person. They're not going to allow people in ahead of the queue without good reason. Just calm down. gromit3:16 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I assume they were vulnerable as they never showed > a nhs pass to shop worker, but they let them in > anyway. 9. The tories will only ever be going for the money. That is their raison d'?tre.
  10. This would make sense if it weren't for the fact that unless you are very wealthy and have no morals, voting Tory is like shooting yourself in the head. Granted, the alternatives haven't exactly been thrilling lately. 11. Went straight in the recycling. A ridiculous waste of money at a time like this.
  12. To be fair, it's difficult to discuss a Prime Minister without there being a political angle. I wouldn't wish his predicament on anyone. I just hope that we can turn a corner in the treatment and prevention of Covid-19 for the sake of everyone. dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I set this up clearly as a NON POLITICAL thread. > > If you which to discuss the election, Brexit or > some other political topic, i.e a new labour > Leader or whatever else politically, go set up a > separate thread. 13. Hmm. Fresh pasta is wonderful but it's a myth that it's always the best option. Spaghetti, fusilli, macaroni and so on are much better dried. And v hard to find. paulu197 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fresh pasta is always available(including > spaghetti amd tagliatelle) and the use by date is > beginning of May. 14. To be fair, they do. Joggers can go to parks and easily avoid people. I'm finding the majority are being good about giving people a wide berth though, it's the ignorant minority that are the problem. Walkers aren't immune to this either by the way. We should all be making every effort to sustain the 2 metre rule. fayebarrett Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >I have found that walkers > seem to feel they have more claim to the pavement > than joggers.
  15. Please think before you post. se22cat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bloody council should be out using their paint for > this rather than their retarded anti-resident CPZ > crap.
  16. Just back. Long queue but all quite civilised. Not too badly stocked (although no eggs or flour.) Pretty good stock of fruit and veg. We found the last bottle of hand wash.
  17. All it required was a bit of common sense re the rules on distancing. Many in our street did it from an upstairs window. Those without common sense are probably better off remaining inside though. se22cat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Personally, I'm incredibly appreciative of the NHS > & it's workers, but there's no way I'd risk my or > my wife's health by doing this it's ridiculously > counter productive. 18. Are you sure? There's nothing on the web about it and their website says they are still open. 19. gromit3:16 - your persistent negativity is becoming rather wearing. Please try and be a bit more positive. These are difficult times for everyone and your constant carping is unhelpful. gromit3:16 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > can't believe everyone is so happy to jump on the > cashless society. where the government can track > your every movement and know what your spending > your money on. > > I use cash everywhere as it is safer. > It's too easy to lose track of how much money you > have when using cards. > > and I noticed young people don't value money > anymore because they always use cards.
  20. I'm freelance in the TV and film industry. I have an office and 2 full time employees. I had work lined up for the year and as of this week all work (and payment) has ceased. Until this is over I will have no income at all. So I will have to give notice on my office at the end of the month. I will try and stretch funds to pay my staff for as long as I can but that won't last long. It's ruinous for many in my industry.
  21. I'm not sure that there is any scientific basis in this! ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A thought that struck me a few days ago after > getting a noseful of cigarette smoke walking > along LL -- exhaled smoke of any sort would > presumably be an excellent vector for viruses, > hanging about in the air as it does for several > seconds.
  22. gromit3:16 - please calm down. You're not helping anyone, least of all yourself.
  23. Yet again the government put their interests (insurance industry) first by putting the onus on consumers to NOT go to pubs, restaurants, theatres, etc., instead of making it a rule and enabling at least some of them to claim.
  24. As Brian said, it's illegal to pick it. Please don't. TE44 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Brian up the hill, thank you for maintaining safe > pathways.
