  2. Sorry but can't resist With regards to the comments from intexasatthe moment "Come on Eileen, you know what he means" 😅

  5. James With reference your comments on the spineway, if the consultation was on the best way to implement it, and the majority vote was against the current plans, what is the new proposal and how is it different from the origional proposed plan If there is no difference then what are you going to do as our elected councillor to represent the views of your electorate ? Equally what is the update on the proposed Barry Road 20mph consultation that was run last year ?
  6. Tonight there is the Dulwich community council meeting Tuesday 29 January 2019 at St John the Evangelist Church, 62A East Dulwich Road, London SE22 9AT. It may be a good idea to raise questions there about A) the CPZ proposal and what happens if the public reject it B) why the quiet way is being implemented despite overwhelming objections C) what is happening along Barry Road and what the results of the recent consultation are Sadly I can't be there to ask these questions, but I believe that the local councillors need to answer these questions, and be accountable if they aren't representing their electorate
  7. Carrie does raise an interesting point, not all the essential workers in an area like this get huge salaries and as such they need to live out of the area. The cost of commuting has to be taken into account for them and if they then rely on costly or unreliable trains then it could make a huge difference to their income or ability to work here. This includes teachers, shop workers, home care workers, and so on, Should they be forced to seek employment elsewhere because people want to park outside their homes, then this could cause the infrastructure businesses to potentially not be able to function Imagine the joy of being able to drive little Tarquin to school without fear of loosing your space only to find there are no teachers to teach him (illustration of worst case scenario just like the councils literature) or going to the only shop still able to function in the area on dog kennel hill (remember when it first opened and how it effected the lane at the time) My thought here is be careful what you ask for, the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the road.
  8. James Based on abe_froemans point in the CPZ discussion, concerning the proposed spineway along crystal palace road, what are the councillors (who we, the public, elected to represent us) going to do about it being pushed through despite huge objections ? Or are you just going to roll over and not represent us? Start of Quote "On the point about whether or not Southwark will actually listen to the outcome of the consultation, this may be instructive. It's another project in East Dulwich that will result in the loss of a large number of car parking spaces... "You Said We received 463 responses: 28% were 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied', 63% were 'dissatisfied' or 'very dissatisfied'. ..." The scheme is going ahead as planned. That's what we are dealing with here. https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/eastdulwichtopeckham/ End of quote
  9. According to southwarks own website, it was 98 requests over the three years https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/parking-projects/east-dulwich-parking-study-and-healthier-streets-consultation
  10. Figure 8 (page 8) shows total respondents, including those in the consultation area (364 in total) and I'm just pointing out that they were allowed to respond but their views were ignored as Southwark didn't set a criteria for the survey and could use what ever elements or interpretation they wanted
  11. It's worth reading the consultation results before you say that Southwark have taken it fully into consideration https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/championhilltrial/supporting_documents/Consultation%20summary%20and%20next%20steps%20v1.0.pdf Page 7 shows that based on 141 responses from residents in the consultation area 83 voted yes and 54 voted no Page 8 shows that base on 364 overall responses, 216 voted against the proposal and 135 voted for it Page 8 also states that motorists are much less in favour Page 9 breaks this information out into a chart Based on this the recommendation was to implement the trial It does raise questions how Southwark interpret results, potentially in their favour, to support what they propose

Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Interesting point Spider and Rye Lane is chocka > block with small one off independent businesses > that survive in spite of their parking > restrictions. And rye lane also has proper car parks which helps people from out of town park 🤔

  14. It does feel like Soutwark are using project fear tactics If you don't have the CPZ you will suffer increases in commuters because others have got one It will allow you to park, despite only a few streets having issues Personally it would have been a better tactic by the council if they let the dog kennel hill CPZ settle in first, then residents in Peckham west and east Dulwich could see what the long term effects were to allow people to make an informed decision. With response to markt's points above, would a bad interpretation of the results allow for a legal challenge ?
  15. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi Pugwash, > I guess CPZ permits could be avoided for Home Care > Workers if they time their visits to be outside > the hours of operation and the hours of operation > were limited. > o you know if the Herne Hill CPZ operating Mon-Fri > 12-2pm caused problems for Home Care Workers > visiting people there? An interesting thought, but for the sake of argument some patients may require visits that are within the restricted hours, diabetics needing insulin or those who require medication at certain times for example, in which case a CPZ that restricts home care workers being able to provide services at critical times could be considered a serious problem for the patients
  16. Contact southwarks trading standards team is my advice
  17. Is it just me or is East Dulwich in danger of getting over consulted but not listened to? The Barry Road 20mph consultation started it The East Dulwich CPZ and Heathrow flight increase consultation are both active along with the west Peckham CPZ consultation Do we now need a consultation on the number of active consultations open at any one time ?
  18. Food for thought over this discussion With the proposed ultra low emmision zone set to be introduced in 2021, cars in East Dulwich will have to meet the new emissions standards, be electric or have a daily charge imposed to use them. This should reduce the number of diesel and older polluting cars in or entering the area It will also lower the out of area commuters using East Dulwich as they will have to pay to get here unless their cars meet the new standards Will this be enough to reduce the particulates element behind some people wanting a CPZ ? Especially as a CPZ won't be introduced until just before 2021 so proving if the CPZ worked or if it was the ULEZ will be difficult as the results will be intertwined. With the argument that the businesses will or won't be effected, has anyone asked them for input and support (either for or against) Maybe this is a call to action for the East Dulwich Action group as they claim to represent the traders 🤔 Regardless people should get online and do the survey to get their views represented otherwise, like most things, if the result isn't what you want there can be no whinging after if you didn't put your official response in.
  19. Consultation opens tomorrow, but well worth reading all the documentation first before making up your minds Feels like a money making exercise when you see the costs per permit, especially as each household can apply for three https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/parking-projects/east-dulwich-parking-study-and-healthier-streets-consultation

All postal addresses within the study area will receive a consultation pack towards the beginning of the month including the following:" And with the post around here we will all receive them three weeks after the consultation closes 🤔🙄
