I came across this website about a year ago Makes interesting reading about smart meters including the perceived health risks, future costs and so on. Not advocating what the website says, but read through it and make your own decisions and conclusions http://stopsmartmeters.org.uk

New French Restaurant On North Cross Road
TheArtfulDogger replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Got to admit I'm already disappointed without trying this place, simply because I fancied a Sunday evening meal and despite their door and website stating open weekends till 11:30 they shut at 5pm on a Sunday night... OPENING HOURS Tuesday to Friday 12? 11.30pm Weekends 10am ? 11.30pm Oh well will have to find somewhere else for the night now. Hopefully they will correct their opening hours to avoid confusion in the future. -
Dover, there has always been a McDonald's in Brixton, so not sure why you claim there was no where decent to eat in 2007.... Oh hang on you did say decent didn't you 😅 Sadly I have to agree with Louisa that Brixton has become gentrified and lost its cool edginess of old. Why they even have a picture house there!

Angelina Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm a bit shocked at Dan Rigby's "got what I want > now shut up y'all" attitude. I don't think that was what Dan was saying Angelina, I believe he was saying that he raised a request for volunteers and was now bowing out of the thread.... in my opinion more than likely a result of all the negative posts about why there is a community grant to make improvements in the area. over the last few years the council has cut services due to tightening budgets and in my honest opinion there are some areas of the council that needed it as they weren't efficient but that's my personal view of local authorities, however the funding for community projects normally gets passed on from the government and in the case of business improvements it can be in the form grants that is often taken out of the business rates income to central government (none of which is available directly to the local authority as they act as collectors only for Central Government). I am not sure if that is the case here. By promoting local shopping areas, they remain viable and don't become shopping centres of death (lots of empty shops and charity shops) which has the negative effect of making people shop elsewhere, reducing local jobs and dragging the area down resulting in property prices tumbling and people moving away. It's a complicated symbiotic relationship between a well maintained shopping area and a vibrant local community. a lot of good ideas have been presented here (yes better pavements are one) and maybe as a result of the community grant pressure can be put on the council to do their job and repair the pavement as they have a budget for that sort of thing and it shouldn't come out of community grants. Rather that bemoaning the scheme, why not email Dan with positive ideas to improve the area which the committee can review and where possible implement, and where it is a council service ensure that the council is delivering it. The link earlier to BIDS (Business Improvement Districts) is a good one as it allows high streets to supplement council services but not replace them so that may be a consideration for Dan and the committee to look into later on but for now lets celebrate the good shopping area we have in East Dulwich rather than put it down and watch it decline.

is this East Dulwich or Eastborne? Asks Sunny Dee 25 Sunny believes that there has been an influx of older, slower drivers in the area in the last year which he likes to hoot or overtake in his Volvo GTI 4x4 as he cruises down Barry Road at 40 mph. "It's like the whole of Eastborne has been transported over night to the area" says Sunny, "most of thes drivers are a menace to other road users" he continued "as they dawdle around at 20 miles per hour like its the speed limit init" Sunny pointed out that they "just get in me way and makes my blood boil" as he drove down the road one handed whilst talking to his mates on his mobile, laughingly he went on with "the other day I had to swerve around a Fiat 500 which almost tipped over with the turbulence created by my car as I cut close to them" he sited as an example of what he calls bad driving "and what's worse is that I constantly see people jumping back onto the pavement not expecting me on the wrong side of the road as I'm forced to overtake the new 20s menace on the road, these slow drivers just make it more dangerous for pedestrians as well as drivers" he raised in support of his argument. Sunny and all his mates believe that East Dulwich may well becoming the new "God's waiting room" and refused to say anymore as he pulled to a skid in the drive-in on the Old Kent Road before wheel spinning as he pulled away phone in one hand and a bargain bucket in his lap. -
Hello Dan Gave you seen this post http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1787736 Might be something you can put a bid in for to do some sort of recycling project, maybe linked to waste from the market or shops Always worth a punt Plus when cleaner greener safer funds are announced its always worth putting a bid in for them as well

The good news is that now it's the 15th , sainsburys had bunches of roses at half price Regardless if you were sent any or not, grab yourself a bargain and enjoy the fact that you don't have to pick up your partners (non existent one little miss ) dirty underware and socks where he has missed the laundry basket again.... Every cloud .....
