Pop9770 I'm just pointing out that your style of writing is very similar to the poster formally know as fazer71, who incidentally stopped posting on here shortly before your first post, hence why I asked the question. It is a different view, your view is aircraft noise is a blight , mine is that it isn't that much of a problem and s necessary side effect of modern travel. I guess we could all go back to airships and slow travel and paddle steamers as a mode of transport but that's not going to get you to the Canary Islands or where ever else it is you want to go on holiday now is it ?

Pop9770 Are you the reincarnation of Fazer71 (who no longer exists as a user)? I ask because your posts are very similar to each other ? I agree with rendel it's a two way discussion forum with those who have one point POLITELY discussing it with those who have a different view. Sadly not everyone agrees with you but that doesn't make their point of view wrong

My view is that of a realist, not a defeatist You want to fly but you don't want the associated disadvantages The argument that you like to use motorways but wouldn't want one at the end of your garden is frankly nimbyism If you understood how many planes air traffic control have in the air at any one time then the concept of fanning them in becomes dangerous and invites an accident, they come down a single weather and wind restricted flight path as that is how the drop out of the bottom of the stack If you want the convenience of flying from one of Londons three airports (city, Heathrow and gatwick) and you want to leave within spitting distance of the airports (as we do in south east London) then frankly you have to accept some noise until they introduce silent jets... or would you prefer that the airports are relocated miles away, making it a long long journey to get to them but also shifting the noise into someone else's back yard ?

Your poor neighbours having to listen to your telly at full volume... The aircraft noise in Eadt Dulwich, whilst slightly loud at times, isn't as bad as it could be if you were in the final approach path. It's the devil and the deep blue sea situation, people like the convienince of being able to fly around the world and the relative ease of getting to an airport but don't want the noise when they aren't flying ...

People have started to put comments up Will be interesting to watch what permission it gets, obviously anything is better than what is there at the moment but let's hope it is in keeping with the surrounding buildings -

Sigh Have you never had extra anchovies on your pizza, that's about a tin load However your comment could explain the racing heart, dizziness and sweaty palms.... Or was that just a result of too much wine to wash the anchovies down with 🤔 -
I've never seen IT coming....

I just made a fatal mistake of opening a tin of anchovies to cook with well before needing them and decided it was a good idea to try just one...... ... Resulting in an emergency run to the shop to get another tin as there are now none left when I need them in the current tin... Also I have a terrible thirst just come on, maybe I need to open that bottle of wine for just one glass.......

Have you registered an objection to the planing application based on the height and the addition of the top floor? If not it's not worth complaining on here as the council won't read or take into account this forum. However good to use the forum to get people to object or support the development. -
An actual tip (not from viz.) told to me a year or so ago Vinyl lovers, fed up with fluff and dirt ruining get that record you love, smear wood glue over it and when dry peel it off to remove all dirt and debris in the grove , then wash with warm (not hot) water to remove any residue from the glue Never tried it but heard it works well..

Hopefully including a photo of their crass finger action ... Lol

Fed up with always misplacing your contact lenses ? Drill a small hole in the corner of each of them, thread a piece of cotton through them long enough to go around your neck and hey presto every time they fall out you will find them hanging around your neck ... Thanks to VIZ 1995 for that one...

Wow The three story design is well out of keeping with the local area (excluding the monstrosity they built at the old police station! Hopefully the council will tell them 2 stories only... Time to put an objection in however anything is better then what is there now... -

The wind of change dictates that all things must align with the lay of the room and face the direction that is best for viewing and hearing of sounds from the entertainment area in the home, whilst waving stick of incense around the flow of smoke must direct up and to the alarm of smoke to ensure that maximum safety of family occurs Finally ensure clutter is kept to spaces that receive it best and make sure that passageways never full of old news or hello (Don't ask me I'm a dog Feng shoe is something to chew isn't it ? )

Cyclists stopped by police Wed morning - SE15
TheArtfulDogger replied to Nigello's topic in The Lounge
Rendleharris wrote >>Still, good to know that the boys in blue have got their priorities straight, not as if nearly 10% of cars in SE London are being driven without any insurance... True but it's a case of targeting groups in small batches rather then trying to solve all crime across the capital in one go. This week cyclists breaking the rules, maybe next week uninsured drivers... Sadly the police are stretched thin and it's a case of targeted operations, normally following a complaint from the public or a directive from higher up... Personally I think it's a good thing to target cyclist as their light jumping antics will get one of them Killed one day soon and then who gets the blame ? The cyclist for jumping the light, the driver for hitting s cyclist or the police for not enforcing the rules ? -
Today the RMT announced yet more strikes (Eurostar this time) and the breakfast news used the expression "the summer of discontent" a reference back to the winter of discontent (78/79) when mass strikes occurred With that in mind I thought it would be fun to remember the sorts of things we had in the 70s that brought us joy (or misery) The first on my list is the Raleigh Chopper which brought a lot of joy due to its unique design and cool style but also misery when you had an accident and discovered that the gear lever was just in the wrong place (makes eyes water just thinking about it...) Then there was the Curly Wurly bar, a joy of chocolate and toffee but a misery when it stretched broke and left toffee and bits of chocolate on your tank top ! Happy days !

Barclays Bank - Lordship Lane
TheArtfulDogger replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Still at least you had some of your now infamous stolen grapes to help you pass the time Louisa Hopefully in that time you weren't also "casing the joint" to see if you could put some cash into an unweighted bag when you got to the counter ;-) -
Sadly aerie A lot of your list went up in flames when regans in Peckham got set alight during the riots 5 years ago ...
