Not that I am superstitious or anything (caresses lucky rabbit foot as he types) but Friday 13th is going well for me so far Got woken at 4am by a recovery truck picking up a crash damaged Addison and Lee taxi (why do these recovery trucks make so much noise running their engines in the middle of the night?) Made myself a cup of tea this morning only to discover my favourite mug has cracked and more tea is outside me than in me I am now scared of eating those delicious English strawberries I bought yesterday In case I find a new friend inside one. How is everyone else's luck today ?

Brockwell Lido is 2 miles > from corner of Peckham Rye. Ed_pete, what a silly comment, as Peckham lido will be 2 minutes walk, thus reducing the need for me to pollute the atmosphere by driving or getting a bus to brockwell lido.

Birds being murdered in Crystal Palace Road?!?!
TheArtfulDogger replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Strange title to this thread, if it's a fox or cat then it's nature not murder -
Oh foxy, you are such a killjoy, I support the idea simply because it would make Peckham rye a destination for swimmers and as a result they will spend in the area helping revive the economic fortune of Peckham and nunhead, which would push up house prices making me bloody rich 😈 So yes bring it on as I would seriously love to go swimming in a local lido

I'm going to sit down with a coffee and watch this thread with interest lol Peckham used to be called the golden mile as its shops and department stores rivalled Oxford street in the 60s and 70s so it will be lovely to see it return to its former glory... Now if only sweaty Betty would open on rye lane ....

Sigh sir learn restraint

I think the mother in question was right to say "silly horrid people" however I think she was hopefully talking about herself and not the OP Utterly disgraceful behaviour by the mother and child in question and if it was my establishment I would quite happily ban them for being disrespectful to the business and other customers but that would of course start another thread on here ...

Just a thought Why not do a trade with the moth problem people http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1670619,page=1 and offer to relocate a few into their houses to keep their problem under control and reduce the spider count in your garden without killing any Potentially a win win lol

Peregrines in the park (now identified as a not so common buzzard
TheArtfulDogger replied to Maria Mac's topic in The Lounge
How amazing and what a beautiful bird, I had the privilege of working with a peregrine falcon in the past (via eagle heights) and they are wonderful to watch fly and hunt 'lure' prey Hope it is okay and returned to its rightful place quickly. -
I have to say "WTF" A new series of adverts have hit our screens, one shows a marathon runner who asks the official for her time but he gives vague estimates and it ends with the phrase "Why estimate when you can be accurate" Sure smart meters will give the companies a reading every half hour which means they can tell you how much you used and Bill you appropriately but they will also be able to put you on "time of day" tariffs in the future where they can charge you a higher usage tarrif during peak times (i.e. Early evening when most people get in and cook or watch the telly) Not such a good thing in my opinion, however what gets my goat is that they are trying to sell it on the principle that they can end estimated bills, something that occurs due to the energy companies reducing meter reading staff numbers thus leading to a reduced frequency of meter readings. However, if like me, you read your meter each quarter and forward the information on to your supplier then you shouldn't be getting estimated readings and bills anyway! Personally I think the adverts (and the meters) are flawed

With the warm weather, they may have a nest and taking the pellets back as food for their young and not eating them themselves I once had one who would sit and strip the outside of the blue pellet off and take the grains inside away... Until he played jack be nimble and jumped over a trap that caught him in mid flight .... They are getting cunning and being trained in ninja techniques by the squirrels !

Yes, but only in their minds as they are all winners in their own heads

Parking around East Dulwich station
TheArtfulDogger replied to Fitzgeraldo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dear Rahrahrah Isn't it obvious, you can travel to other places but then you have to pay the council to park there either in a car park or on a council owned meter A CPZ is win win win financially for a council -
Sigh The vote was in favour but the committee decided on the Sir David Attenborough Doesn't bode well for the EU referendum as regardless of a yes or no the government may have already made up their mind Still the name chosen is a good one and well done dicky

Even if second choice is irrelevant The concept of strategic second place voting did make me smile
-
I knew who I wanted to vote for this morning but then came the dreaded "second choice for mayor" Who to vote for , it had to be strategic enough to block the party I didn't want from getting in, but it also had to be a party that wouldn't get in regardless to make sure that I didn't push someone in by accident I umm'ed and arrr'ed For an agonising 5 minutes then panicked and voted for "canabis is safer than alcohol" party ... It did strike me through the fog in my brain that if everyone did the same and there wss a tie for first place, maybe , just maybe by default they could win... Now there is a thought for those of you to still vote... 😎

Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes, Foxy, but how do the eggs get into your > house? Thank you Loz As I said HOW do the females / eggs get into the house foxy?.... Stop avoiding the question by talking about chickens now and tell the good people of ED how you get the infestation in the first place !

Curiosity has now bitten this moth eaten old dog If the males are the only ones with wings then how do the females get into your house in the first place I can only guess at being transported by people on their clothes but it is a curious question

Looks like there is one thing honest about Seabags VW tdi after all, as it's not the emissions test results 😂

Why not get someone to follow you in a car with a passenger using the sat nav to verify what speed you go at past a fixed point in the road Not 100% brilliant but will do the trick
-
Go up to Sydenham hill, ride like the wind towards crystal palace and make a note of the speed you are doing on the dial as you pass the speed cameras... When the ticket comes through the post you will be able to see the speed the cameras claimed you are going at and voila you have your benchmark.
