  1. Katie, I can't answer that, maybe you have pushed admin just that bit too far and he/she has sent you to the naughty girl step and revoked you clicky clacky rights... I heard it first hand from a friend's brothers wife's auntie who once worked for "the Barber" so it must be true they won't have late fees but I for one won't be flicking through their back cataloges
  2. Special discussion for those who were addicted to the Station CPZ thread Dear all, it strikes me that the passion and drama recently seen on the Station CPZ thread will leave some of you with Withdrawl symptoms and that you may need somewhere to get your fix again. Could this be it, a discussion where the bizare and insane ideas can be aired and people get passionate about it... who knows... and who cares ? so to start the ball rolling, have you heard that the library is going to be converted into a brothel and to make it easier for the curb crawlers a 6pm till 6am CPZ will be installed around the streets near the Library. I heard it first hand from 'the Barber' is this 'the Barber'? http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/councillors/jamesbarber.jpeg or is this 'the Barber' in question ? http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/tankist276/tankist2761107/tankist276110700025/10084602-beautiful-youth-woman-with-blindfold--get-shave-guy-hazardous-razor.jpg

  14. Hi TwoFourSeven Up until a year or so ago, Southwark employed one town centre manager who was in Peckham then went to the Elephant before taking early retirement from the council when Spending cuts were introduced. in other parts of the borough (Bankside, London Bridge) there are Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) where the local busineses over a ratable value threshold are asked to vote for a 5 year fixed term period of donating a small amount of money to the BID organisation in exchange for pre agreed improvements to the area (Cleaning, events or what ever is needed) however they are not cheap to set up (cost of the voting and setting up a BID company) but you may want to approach Better Bankside, Team London Bridge or Southwark Council for more information. Peckham used to have a Town Center Manager and also an organisaiton set up by the traders (Peckham TCMG) but funding was key to keeping both and sadly neither are there anymore.. I believe the traders of ED did set up a traders association about 2 or 3 years ago but I don't know what has happened since. Sadly a town center manager needs funding (either to pay for their time or for things to happen) so that would be your first course of action if you want one, however you could ask the local community council for funding under the Cleaner Greener Safer funding scheme (or for advise on how to get funding) but that would cover specific schemes (not salary) for East Dulwuch. All that said, a TCM would be good for the South of the Borough (ED, Peckham and Camberwell) so maybe it is worth asking the council or the Comunnity council why we don't have one ? Hope the potted history and ideas help
  15. Caoital Fm at 11 and Midday but didn't listen after that ..
  16. just woke to hear that East Dulwich was on the news after a man had his finger bitten off in a fight between 50 people at half 2 this morning merry Christmas to the poor fella
  17. launch them atop a firework rocket, makes a nice festive green display
  18. Santa delevering me a bag of bones happy Christmas East Dulwich
  19. DD Now that's what I am talking about... Gentlemen - it will be over by Christmas !!
  20. that's a very sexist view of men as shopping mules inkmaiden I am shocked by your attitude in this day and age ::o
  21. I have just been shopping in ED looking for those last few gifts and stocking fillers and love the fact that the shops are so packed and busy (good to hear the festive Ker Ching from the tills) However can I make a requesgt to the Mums and ladies of East Dulwich to do everyone a simple favour.. ask your husbands / Boyfriends or Lovers* not to come shopping with you and to take the kids to the park / cafe or child friendly pub as I saw three poor partners who didn't get the idea of shopping "It's too expensive for Mimi" or "Why are't we getting that - sigh" and a few of them even standing awkwardly in the aisle with buggies making it hard for the other shoppers to get around. Ladies - please remember that for Christmas most** men want one thing and one thing only (apart from socks) and that is to be left at home / in the pub whilst the Christmas shopping is happening. So please make it a wonderful and stressful experience for everyone and have a happy Christmas*** Notes: * Best not to bring Husband, Boyfriend and Lover at the same time as that may cause real arguments. ** most but not all men ! *** And keep on shopping locally to keep these fantastic businesses local too.
  22. only of they can park their Sleigh outside of any CPZ's the council want to implement (6)
  23. I had this problem once and calling the police (not on 999 though) and they will either call the car owner or ticket the car, but like ruffers said you car needs to be up your drive
  24. strange thing, I was using a blue box and last week they not only emptied it but took it as well, as far as I can see they took all the blue boxes from my road, personally the blue bin is too big and an eyesore (2 bins was bad but three) yet now I have no choice and despite emails to environmental team saying no to the blue bin here it is madness especially as I heard a rumour that the new waste plant on the old Kent road, when operational can take mixed waste (recycling and household) and then sort it so potentially we may go back to a single bin (or two) in the near future maybe James can update us on this rumour ?
  25. sue and clarec please don't class me as one of those child haters on here, I was referring to further down route when some (not from east Dulwich) mums used to push onto a bus with their buggies full of shopping and child towing behind, it has been my observation that these parents often force their way onto a bus where every inch of space is already taken twice over (by free riders) and rather then being polite they normally yell "MOVE" I am sure you aren't that sort of mother !
