  1. I went to a different takeaway last night, won't name it as that is not fair on a local business, but it was within a few minutes walk of Yee Wah. I have to say the lack of quality compared to Yee Wah was noticeable to the point where I left more than I ate and it reminded me why I have used Yee Wah for over 15 years Sad tear in eye if they have truly gone
  2. All speculation so far, and no facts. ( well apart from the quality of the food) Would love to know as they are always friendly and the quality recently took on an even better than normal level. Hopefully it's just a refurbishment
  3. They appear to be closed or under refurbishment at the moment, what is going on along barry parades to all the shops and businesses at the moment ?

  5. I hope they vote yes, then we can round up all the bagpipe players in London (and the rest of the remaining union) and deport them north of the new Hadrian's Wall security barrier The security barrier will also need to be manned 24x7 so that will solve employment issues in the north of England. Finally, if Scots need a special visa to come to work or live in England then we can refuse them entry and reduce the strain on housing stock in London and the south east Dear Alex will solve all the worlds ills if he gets the yes vote :-) However I personally think we will be better together (despite bag pipe players)
  6. I hope this is not true but someone said that someone mentioned that the whole of East Dulwich is being closed and turned into a urban tank battle simulation for the MOD There goes the neighbourhood if it is true

It's a problem in most departments, they get a budget fir this year, design and deliver a project that has no funding for future maintenance, therefore they don't think long term and apply for maintenance money when things break or stop working A classic (non road) example was the zoetrope on Rye Lane, rebuilt by Southwark's "Peckham Programme" team, ran a few times but no maintenance scheduled hence never working since http://www.bellenden.net/category/theme/peckham-town-centre Sad but council employed project managers only really manage the hear and now, not think about the future and act surprised when things fail, go wrong a few years later.
  10. With the recent break ins around the area, I am sure the people who's alarm it is must be super chuffed about you drawing attention to their house on a public forum. Whilst it may have been an attempt to be kind and let them know there is a problem, I hope you haven't made the problem worse by putting their address in the title of the thread.
  11. This may explain it, read the synopsis and tell me if I am barking up the wrong tree http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060153/
  12. sailors preparing for a lack of fresh drinking water at sea is my guess !
  13. Maybe, and without wanting to start panic, it is a madman (or woman) putting still live chopped up bits of people through a wood pulper and the sounds you are hearing is a combination of bones being ground down and screaming ! of course it could be something totally innocent and I need to stay off the cheese at night
  14. I miss the good old days when concord used to fly over, she was noisy but I always rushed out to watch her and didn't mind the noise :-) Fazer, I have to ask, did you fly to your contract ?
  15. I'm lost What's going on ? Where's my mummy ?
  16. I want to start a moan about the foreign people who buy winning euro million lottery tickets thus depriving us Brits of that ?109million prize How very dare they
  17. Doctors and nurses who wake you in hospital to give you sleeping tablets Or Cats who sleep all day then want to play on your head all night
  18. Does anyone know what and where one can do things guilt free in East Dulwich ? Any suggestions welcome as a relief from this summer rain :-)
  19. As a born and bread Londoner I feel like I belong in a minority ethnic group now Got to say I love the diversity of London and East Dulwich
  20. When I was a small puppy, we used to see this sort of behaviour all the time (disputes rather than antisocial behaviour) and the solution was to gather round in a circle and shout "fight fight fight" Where's teacher when you need one?
  21. This is the lounge not the kitchen, what's going on around here these days ?
  22. I think the problem is that now TFL can track buses on route the controllers can make changes to keep the core part of a route working better when buses are running late, or they can 'regulate the service' (another frustration when you are running late and the bus sits there for 3 or 4 minutes). sadly the controllers can not see how full the bus is and maybe the driver should indicate when asked to vary the route how many people are on the bus so that the controller can make a more informed decision. Sigh, the iBus system is great at letting you know where you are on the route and what the next stop is, but at the same time it has disadvantages of also letting the controllers know exactly where all of their buses are on the route thus allowing them to change them from an office rather than seeing the reality of what is happening. Bring back the old routemasters and conductors is all I would like to add at this point...
  23. It seems to happen on all buses, and a further frustration is when the next bus behind overtakes it before it reaches the new destination resulting in an even longer wait
  24. Arrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Artful
