If you haven't watched part 2 yet, then don't read on until you have At the end the Doctor goes back to rescue Davros from the hand mines and teaches him the word "mercy" to enable the darlek that Clara is in to say "mercy" and thinking about the principles of time paradoxes if he didn't go back to save him would Davros have died at the hands of the hand mines and as a result would the Darleks then never have existed thus changing the future and cancelling out the need to go back to save Davros ... Therefore by going back did the Doctor assist in the creation of the Darleks ? Second question When we first met Clara she was inside a Darlek and was able to tell the Doctor her name, yet in the episode last night every time she said her name the Darlek said " I am a Darlek" - Is there a level of inconsistency and continuity failure here ? Final question In an earlier series the Darleks evolved into super Darleks, yet in this episode they are in their old form ( you even see the Darlek weapon first introduced during Sylvester McCoy incarnation of the Doctor, it's the one with the biggest gun In the background) and yes time travel means that the Doctor could have gone back to an earlier time, yet he mentions that Gallifrey has been found so this was ( in timelines) after the creation of the super Darleks ... What happened to them ? Go to say I am loving the madness of Missy Answers on a post card to "Sad person"

Fazer me old China, you are between a rock and a hard place " I have tried ear plugs after trying foam and wax earplugs which hurt I paid ?200 at a Harley street specialist for a custom made pair of ear plugs BUT the problem with all ear plugs even ?200 custom ones is after four hours or so my ears begin to ache the pain become unbearable and it?s the pain from the ear plugs that wakes me up before the 4am flights so unfortunately they are not a solution. I?ve also tried white noise machines but they don?t block out the aircraft noise and they kept my O/H awake." Completely unrelated but I love this song

First sign of madness Fazer me old China, talking to yourself... Are you sure it's planes that are tipping you over the edge and not the cold baths and specially tailored jacket that THEY make you wear ?

Let's put Fazar71s theory to the test Is the current noise level louder than concord ? Concorde fans hope to get jet airborne by 2019 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34301689 I for one would love to see her fly again ...!

Love your third idea Dulwichrat However your first one has made me want to put in a bid for a Mexican themed bar and restaurant called the "t*tty twister" which will give employment to local girls who like to party all night whilst staying in bed during the day and also we could employ an ex town crier or similar who can do a monologue outside about what is on offer inside. (That alone will rile people on the forum 😉) Win win for East Dulwich a Mexican restaurant, employment and the opportunity to remove a number of undesirable types from the streets of ED I wonder if we can also pay George Clooney to open it too....

What fascinates me about this thread is that when the flight path moves to a different area or prior to the change a few years ago when the flight paths were adjusted to be over East Dulwich people here are happy about it. A bit of nimbyism seems to be coming through and if people are serious about wanting reduction in aircraft noise or flights then they should be campaigning for the whole of London /South East and not focusing purely on their location. I know that it is something that effects people where they live but they need to work with others from across the region to campaign against it. Whilst this is a thread about the noise, there is also a valid points made by those who can't hear it and maybe someone with a bit IT skills can ask people to plot where they live on a map and if they can hear the planes or not, that way it will demonstrate where the noise seems to be the worst or if it is isolated cases in certain areas where certain people are more sensitive to the noise than others. fazer71 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Last few days have been lovely quiet thanks to > easterly winds. > > Reminds me of a few years back when ED wasn't > impacted by aircraft noise and morons.

Where can I buy old photos of East Dulwich?

I am posting this in the lounge as I don't want to take away from the real cleaner greener safeer thread in the main section as it is an important source of funding for local projects. However I do want to see what ideas people can come up with for alternative or politically incorrect projects for East Dulwich Anything goes and my first thoughts are 1. Machine Gun posts on the boundaries of East Dulwich to keep the idiots who like to call other people names when they disagree with their posts off the forum. ( potential to also be used for other things too) 2. Barrage Balloons to be raised over Fazer71s house to stop his incessant whining that is louder the an approaching 747 3. sponsorship of Children free pubs to allow real ale to be drunk by old men in peace and quiet. Like I said anything goes and the weirder the better

I now have an image of playing a round of conkers with a spider to negotiate if it stays or moves on.... With 8 legs I guess they would have an advantage but the sting must be very short unless they spin a thread for hanging their conkers from. Wish I was a good artist as I would draw this and post it

Oh how condescending fazer71 telling another poster that "Ultimately if you don't hear anything this isn't the thread for you." I understand that the idea of a discussion is for all sides to put their view or comment forward and not to be dismissed so casually because it doesn't represent your point. You seem to have resorted to insults, swear words (now deleted I understand) and belittling other people who don't take your view I guess asking you to play nicely with others is pointless ! However it may get others to listen to you with a little more respect then you seem to be attracting now 😏 but that's just my opinion and curious to see how you respond to me.

Naming and shaming local businesses... Right or Wrong...
TheArtfulDogger replied to TheArtfulDogger's topic in The Lounge
Hi Azira Your point is well made, and no one is saying that bad reviews shouldn't be posted, however the point is that a business should be informed of the problem or issue directly and allowed to try and resolve it first rather then finding out there was a problem for the first time when they see a negative online review. Sadly I think that Tim Berners-Lee has a lot to answer for in terms of people not talking in person anymore and we have lost the art of complaining directly when there is a problem. -
Whilst the concept of naming and shaming forumites isn't something I agree with, I do believe that some people come on here and act like 12 year olds in a playground and bully local businesses ... Especially those ones they don't agree with ( thanks Blah Blah for the phrase there from the original thread) I wonder if people realise the financial and emotional harm they can cause a business and its owner when they hide behind a pseudo name and whine about something that has happened. For whatever reason something may have gone wrong or occurred and so often rather than talk to the business in question to let them know there was a problem, which the business could fix if they know about it, the first the business may know about the issue the customer had is when there is a post on here or trip advisor... In my mind that is a form of cowardly bullying, agreed there are times when the business is informed and doesn't act but again we may just see one side of the story being posted with the business often too scared of a social media kickback if they try and post their side. A couple of friends of mine who own separate local businesses said in independent conversations about comments against their business on here that they preferred to let people rant about it and for the discussion to die a natural death rather than stick their heads up, post a response and get shot at by people who weren't involved in the problem. There was a great photo I saw recently that said " if you have a problem, tell us and not trip advisor as they can't help you" Maybe we should talk more with each other rather than hiding behind a forum or review site and cyber bullying people or businesses we don't agree with or have a problem with. Maybe everyone will learn and grow from the experience! Right that's my tuppence worth and now off to work on the delightful modern routemaster to earn a crust Note this has been reposted as it was deleted when a whole thread on naming and shaming started by someone else was deleted by the administrators...

Especially when 6.54 is such a better time.... However as the op said, it is guidance not a rule about the 8 till 6 so if you do need to drill after 6 and your neighbours are fine with it the. Go ahead but that also depends on the relationship you have with your neighbours.... -
I thought this was going to be an exciting thread about vampires in East Dulwich ...but sadly proved wrong..... noticed tonight that the French restaurant on lordship lane does skirt steak at ?12 with chips... Maybe an option especially if marinaded well and cooked properly...

Overnight 5/6 September DVLA raid on East Dulwich

West wickham is great, I grew up there and spent many a happy day in blakes park, enjoyed going to oak lodge infants and junior school (with the then headmaster Mr Pritchard being very eccentric) It has changed since I left but the general amenities are good, a nice little shopping parade, a few good pubs and a few good restaurants too. Not as vibrant as lordship lane and not so many curry houses, but still a lovely area to live and I would recommend it to anyone who is bored of ed and has kids too. Not sure about the suburb of Shirley thing as Shirley is in London borough of Croydon and west wickham is Bromley !!! A good catchment area for a number of great secondary schools including the recently rebuilt Langley park boys... It is equal distance to Bromley and Croydon with Croydon town centre set to become the next Westfield development I think the concept that the whole of west wickham is racist is a bit over the top, it's very middle class unless you end up in shrublands or some smaller pockets of chav and the train service is one every 10 minutes in rush hour but that may change with the introduction oF the bakerloo extension. Nice thing is it is also close enough to visit friends in ed or have them visit you. My final comment is go for it and enjoy it...
