  5. If anyone deserves a statue it is certainly Dr Harold Moody. I haven?t signed though because I question the whole concept of putting up statues to individuals, it seems a somewhat outmoded form of commemoration. Dr Moody has a park named after him and there is a plaque on the house in Queens Road where he lived and practiced, in these ways he is still a part of a living community. I question the idea of putting anyone literally on a pedestal.

  7. Just a reminder that James McAsh is one of the councillors for Goose Green Ward. Peckham Rye and Dulwich Park are not within his constituency so suggest you contact the relevant councillors for those areas.
  8. You're suggesting that stall-holders will be willing to increase their outgoings and time commitment by the amount of days the market is open for the same financial return as when it?s open for one day. Edited to add I?ve just had a great idea. Perhaps coffee stalls can be set up in Melbourne Grove when (if) that road closes to through traffic. It can become the new go to destination and take advantage of all that lovely clear space.
  9. Required footfall to make an enlarged market viable for businesses is at odds with requirement for social distancing
  10. I think First Mate got it right when they said the resurrected plan for closing Malbourne Grove is opportunistic.
  11. I don?t see how social distancing could work with stalls set up next to each other. As people return to work, there will be fewer potential visitors to the market during the week. There is only sufficient footfall to make the market viable in a Saturday, in the past I have seen many hopeful stalls start trading on a Friday and sadly only last a few weeks as the customers just don?t visit.

But but it?s not the length of the queue that dictates how long people queue for but the number of people in the queue which would be the same whether they stand 2m apart or 10m apart
  13. Thanks Ian. I hardly know what day of the week it is these days, combining it with the day of month becomes all a little too much !
  14. The above project is calling for people to submit a diary of how they spend their day on Wednesday 12th May for their archive. More info in http://www.massobs.org.uk/write-for-us/12th-may?fbclid=IwAR0lJVuZYR8g1MUsnWeSYfkA0cSJb6xonFqKlPg2F2fFh656xnSuEFaV-iA
  15. The problem has been made worse by the use of a dark coloured mortar instead of a light coloured one
  16. Or you can get something called Easy Pill from the Neighbourhood Vets which you also wrap around the pill, works with my cat. I don?t think the shop part is generally open, perhaps give them a call to find out if they can help?

    DPD

The algorithms that decide DPD?s delivery route are strange. Yesterday my neighbour and I each had a parcel on the same van. Mine was delivered then the van departed along Upland Road and Peckham Rye and returned to deliver my Neighbour?s parcel about half an hour or so later.
  18. I think it would look better without the wings on the top which only became part of the design when the sculptor learned that William Blake saw a vision of angels on Peckham Rye
  19. Please sign, the least the UK can do is to offer this to the many who have worked tirelessly to care for the severely ill https://www.change.org/p/uk-parliament-offer-unconditional-citizenship-to-all-non-british-nhs-workers
  20. Try the link to the website shown in this thread /forum/read.php?32,2107856
  21. Can I suggest that the title in the first post is changed as it doesn?t really explain what the thread is now about. A Go Fund Me appeal has been set up in conjunction with Kings to show support by supplying items such as fruit, coffee and toiletries to staff. https://www.gofundme.com/f/buy-them-a-coffee-kch
  22. Also Dulwich College has open fields I believe Peter John was on the Vanessa Feltz Radio London show this morning putting forward this proposal
  23. Totally agree. Someone in the North Cross Road area was using a wood burning stove or something similar. Please think of those who have respiratory problems at the best of times.
