New Southwark Form to request a CPZ now online
nxjen replied to jimlad48's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Really?! You only wanted contact details so you could advise the results of the survey when a simple post on the Forum would do this? Or would the results just be a part of a general LibDem electioneering communication? Why have you asked for voting preferences? Put your hand on your heart James and swear there was never any intention to contact respondents about other matters or to use data gained for electioneering purposes. I?m looking forward to your politician?s response. -

This post isn?t for James as he already knows, but as well as asking for name and address in the survey it also asks for voting preference. Just trying to gather data, slipped in on a thread where passions are running high -
New security screens at self-checkout in Sainsbury's
nxjen replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
There must be something about the self service tills at ASDA cos when I?ve used them I?ve always managed to embarrass myself and do something wrong. -

As Penguin has so eloquently written, a survey conducted on the EDF is not representative of the views of the majority of the residents of East Dulwich so the results, be they for or against, will be pretty meaningless and not form the basis of any action taken by Southwark Council. I suspect the LibDems know this. Which raises the question why they have launched the survey if not to gain data just in time for the upcoming local elections. -

Question 6 that requests personal details has an asterisk besides it which I assume means compulsory -

By completing the survey they will gain more information about you other than name and address and begin to create a mini profile. To check whether respondents live locally they do not need an email address or phone number which are requested in the survey -

James has neglected to say that those who complete the survey may (will) be contacted by the LibDems in future. Just trying to collect your details people. -
Fun times at Dulwich Leisure Centre on Friday...
nxjen replied to redjam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I really don?t follow what you?re trying to say. The protest is to draw attention that a system whereby trans are able to self identify can be open to abuse by those who simply say they identify as women to gain access to areas of a very personal and private nature for voyeuristic purposes. -
I?ve been with BT broadband for about 12 years and I wouldn?t call them rubbish. The couple of times I had issues it was with the phone, not broadband. I think there was one general outage that affected the whole area for a few hours about 5 years ago but other than that it?s been fine.

RRR. It?s not just a question of trans issues. What the protests are trying to bring home is that it?s also a question about women?s issues and rights. There needs to be a way of balancing the two, -
Despite denials, there WAS a clique who may disagree amongst themselves but if someone ventured in who was not "one of them" they would close ranks. Though the rows continue, and probably will do, the forum is less aggressive and less intellectually snobby since they've moved on. I haven't seen a post commenting on punctuation for some time. Also as Edcam pointed out, we are living in dark times. It was easier to have more fun before the effects of the banking crisis took full effect before the awful regressive Tory party became the government when leaving the EU was viewed as a bit of a joke etc etc etc

For those who don't see this as an issue, I wonder how they feel about easy access to the areas where their children and teenage daughters change. -
BT saying it's probably a problem inside the house or with customer's equipment seems to be their default response, they've said this to me on the couple of times I've experienced problem on the line. I've persisted and it turned out the problem was with their wiring or equipment but they justified saying it was inside the house so that I'd be prepared to have to pay if it proved to be the case. I'm on Infinity as well and noticed pauses while watching iplayer over the weekend, I put it down to the snow. Seemed OK yesterday.

OK so you appear to have been unaware that ?limp wristed is/was a euphemism as described by P68 during less enlightened times. I suppose it?s heartening to learn such expressions have fallen by the wayside.

It certainly isn?t very gentlemanly to make such aggressive posts as yours.

Yesterday my experience was a car chancing it in my path as I was crossing, on the green man, at the crossing from North Cross to M&S. The car was stationery outside M&S facing towards the Plough, I was half way across when the car started and drove at speed through the red light in my path to reach the Budgens side of the road and continue south. I was not the only pedestrian crossing the driver showed no regard whatsoever.

Before it was the Job Centre, it was an Advice Centre of some sort, I never quite understood what it did. -
I?ve seen there is flushable cat litter available but I wonder if it?s something Thames Water approve of?

Champion, Dog Kennel, Denmark...Which hill is which?
nxjen replied to Reg Smeeton's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Geographically they?re all the same hill and the names are of the different roads that go through it. Geeky info: Denmark Hill used to be called Dulwich Hill and renamed after Queen Anne?s husband. Champion Hill named after the Champion de Crespigny family who owned the land. -

Except it doesn?t make it easier at all - see James Barber?s post above about there not being an option for those opposed to CPZ to have their say. There would then be a costly consultation which could well lead to a CPZ being denied. It isn?t just as simple as reporting dog poo and hey presto the problem is remedied. jimlad48 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Orange owl Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Things are really black and white for you and > so > > simple.
