  1. Do you know what "trolling" means?
  2. If you just want to change the coins into notes, there's a machine at Sainsburys that does it
  3. I'm in an at risk group and have already booked a flu jab at my doctors for free. When I was in Lloyds the other day, they promoted their flu jabs but the charge is ?10. I asked if I would get it free if I qualified to get it free at my GPs and the assistant didn't know. Actually, ?10 is quite a good deal.
  4. If you go to the bottom of the Southwark Council Residents Parking page there are a couple of phone numbers given. Alternatively there is a link to email them. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/parking-permits/on-street-permits/resident-parking-permits
  5. I wouldn't have thought noise generated from East Dulwich station would be too much of a problem, doors are not slammed shut and the trains themselves are quiet. With double glazing it would all be very muffled. Some would in fact see being in such close proximity to the station as a selling point.

    Smart meter

No. This link explains your rights. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/consumers/household-gas-and-electricity-guide/understand-smart-prepayment-and-other-energy-meters/smart-meters-your-rights Just say no.
  8. Your original post concerning this has been moved to the correct section East Dulwich businesses. If posts disappear it is for a reason, just like this one will quite shortly.

The Freeview boxes > don't last for ever. This is so true. I've sadly just said goodbye to my Humax Freeview Box / PVR after 12 years.
  12. A lot has been said and written about the gentrification of Peckham but I think it's rather exaggerated. True, there are pockets that have changed - the shops/cafes along the north side of Peckham Rye, the Bussey Building and multi-storey car park, the Bellenden Road area - but Peckham is a large area and most of it remains the same, including the shops along Rye Lane from Nigel Road northward. Having said that, I usually go to Peckham during the daytime and perhaps am missing the Peckham Buzz that happens in the evenings.
  13. There was an attempt to rename South Peckham so it would become East Dulwich North. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,861896,863384#msg-863384
  14. I'm on North Cross too and agree with Siduhe about BT, I'm on Infinity 1 which gives unlimited broadband at the 50mbps speed and is sufficient for streaming on iPlayer and the others. Have been with BT since 2006 and never thought of changing. BT have good introductory offers and if you call them at the end of the introductory period and ask if there is any discount they can offer for the coming year, they'll generally offer a decent discount.
  15. Out of interest DF what are your views on other activities that involve horses for human entertainment such as sports - racing, show-jumping, dressage etc - and pulling ceremonial carriages e.g. for weddings, romantic rides through parks and funerals.
  16. Royal Mail was delivering unaddressed leaflets long before privatisation.
  17. So valuable council / police resources are to be used to ascertain who - householder or advertiser's employee - dropped the leaflet on the street, not to mention dealing with appeals. Not sure Selclene you've thought this through
  18. I'm wondering how accurate that figure of ?13.81 is. There must be a lot of scope for errors in record keeping.
  19. It's been pointed out many times on the forum that complaining on EDF about what may be considered loud and excessive party noise achieves nothing, not the least because those who are partying are busy partying and not reading the Forum. The people to complain to are the Southwark Noise Control Team whose number has also been posted several times on the Forum.
  20. There's many in the UK think we're mad for leaving
  21. About 18 months ago, I also started receiving large amount of spam featuring my email address. I religiously marked everything as Spam. It took a while but the spam filters eventually started picking them up and putting them straight into the Spam folder.
  22. Wouldn't read too much into it, these documents are often partly cut and paste jobs from other similar applications and it could be amending "flats" has been overlooked. On the other hand, flats / single house - what's the difference?

Bit of late Victorian / Edwardian rebranding to differentiate it from the not quite so upper class East Dulwich?
  24. The people you have to make aware are Southwark Noise Control whose details have been posted twice further up the thread. Those who are affected are already aware.
  25. There was a thread asking this very same question recently http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1852137,1854614#msg-1854614
