Nursery recommendations and baby groups- recent
gebbjane replied to uzma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There are a number of mum and baby groups but not sure which ones run through the school holidays if any. When my daughter was that age I attended the lovely nct mums and babes group held on a Friday morning at St faiths church near north dulwich station (dont need to be a nct member), I know that doesn't run in the holidays. I believe there is also a Nct mums and babes on a Monday morning at goose green church hall but I never went to that one. I also liked going to the group on a Monday afternoon at the Albrighton centre (on the estate opposite sainsburys on dog kennel hill) for babies under 18 months, we didn't start going until my daughter was 5months but you will be fine going with a younger baby, again not running in the holidays. Also check out this website http://www.edtots.co.uk/ lists things going on in east dulwich. -
We got our daughter a mini micro scooter for her 2nd birthday in June - she loves it, has a little difficulty in steering (veers off to the right) but is beginning to get there. They say from age 3 but see so many younger children with them and our daughter is small for her age but she is fine on it. We got ours in jo jo maman babe on lordship lane, same price as John Lewis and Cheaper than buying direct from micro scooter who charge delivery.

Cineworld allow babes in arms at daytime showings http://www.cineworld.co.uk/ticketinformation to films that are 12a or below, so you can go to batman. So either canary wharf or o2 Greenwich. -
Activities for a 2 year old Wednesday 31st?!
gebbjane replied to Readey's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Do you mean today or tommorrow the 1st? Today I believe the soft play at the Albrighton centre, dog kennel hill estate is running from 10am to midday - hope it is anyway as that is where we are heading. Not sure about tomorrow - weather forecast looks better so the park? -

Docklands museum is closed over the summer though http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/Docklands/Visiting-us/closure.htm because of the olympics :( But second it my 2 year old loves the toddler play area. -
Are there any soft plays groups running over the summer?
gebbjane replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think crystal palace toddler world soft play will be up and running from again from 13th august after the olympics, or it could be the following week it's back. -
Interested to hear how this works, did email them but not got a response yet. As well as emailing goodrich and heber about their nursery admissions for September 2013, but no response.

I travel up to my parents via Manchester on the train regularly. I always book in advance and book first class, then ignore my seat reservation and hope there are no wheelchair users on the train so we can park our buggy in the wheelchair space (space for two big buggies). I have never been on the train when a wheelchair has but if you are unlucky as other people say there is generally more space in first class and you should be able to park up the buggy somewhere. I always book my tickets for around lunchtime mon-thurs or Saturday lunchtime and the trains have been quiet, you can usually get a cheap single first class ticket if flexible.

Available nursery space starting Sept 10th
gebbjane replied to ellibob's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If this is up for grabs would they consider sharing out the days? As Lucy says she only needs 3 days, I would only like two days (flexible on which ones) so would be happy to share the place. -

which cereals do you give and at what age?
gebbjane replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Mini shredded wheat are a hit with my toddler, no added sugar. -
I wouldn't feel comfortable lending anyone prescription drugs. Can you not get to a family planning clinic to get a strip? I remember when I was on the pill forgetting to bring it with me when I visited my boyfriend, I just popped to the family planning clinic and explained the situation and they were happy to supply.

In London bridge - Delfina gallery on Bermondsey street. On on the other side of the river - old billingsgate.
-
Yeah they hire out the Albrighton - I went to a 1st birthday party there last year, that was in the upstairs hall with the terrace, they also hire the downstairs hall.
-
The Albrighton centre, not sure how many it holds but has a bouncy castle and kitchens.
-
Through iTunes - you will have to pay for them but worth it. Not sure what Cbeebies programmes are on there but I have downloaded peppa pig and ben and Holly for my daughter. If you have wifi quite a bit on you tube too. Iplayer streaming won't work aboard and I have never been able to download cebbies programmes from there on the iplayer.
