Is it me or is the line up this year really rubbish? Don't think I'll bother watching

What all the other positive posters said. I'd definitely miss the plex if it closed (despite the fact that last month when I turned up at baby cinema to find out it wasn't on in the summer, I asked if I could see the Alan partridge film, they said I couldn't because the baby was underage. She's 8 weeks - its a 15. Was too dumbfounded to put up too much resistance)

Another vote of support for Oak Tree. My son has been there nearly two years and is very happy and thriving there. The staff are young but very caring and warm. He loves them. I know that people have different experiences of different nurseries but we are very happy with our decision to send him there.

Nearly 2 year old resisting naps?
LauraHW replied to Mrs_Glennie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I guess they're all different but about the same my son did the same. Took up to an hour to drop off but we stuck with it and still put him down every day as I thought he (and I!) still needed it. He still naps most days now at 3 years 2 months -
We went to camping cypsela on the costa brava a few years ago. Lovely part of Spain, not too many Brits and gorgeous coast. Just about drivable in a day from caen if you go hell for leather! It's got eurocamp, keycamp etc on site but like nunhead mum says, cheaper to book one of site sites own cabins. Also second half of august tends to be a bit cheaper

Am I making a horrible mistake? (Newborn naps)
LauraHW replied to Emski's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Obviously am totally obsessed with sleep but just found this link to an American website that confidently states: "By 2 months most babies are sleeping 6 to 8 hours through the night. If your baby isn't sleeping through the night by 4 months, talk with your doctor about how you can help this to happen" http://kidshealth.org/parent/growth/sleep/sleepnewborn.html# Are they drugging them? -
Thank you very much!

I'm trying to find out information about swimming lessons at Peckham Pulse for my 3 year old. Every time I phone up it just rings out and there is no specific information on the website. Anyone know how I need to book on / how it works? I really want to support local facilities but they make it very hard!!

Some barely used but don't want to chuck them out. Do you know if charity shops will take?

Thanks for the responses all. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to follow baby whisperer. I mean we can mostly do EASY but she will only sleep for 30 mins at a time unless I carry her round in sling - not fun in heat.. Even if I lie down with her she will wake after 30 mins and won't go back to sleep. Plus every single night without fail she ends up in our bed as I fall asleep when feeding and can't muster the energy to put back. I don't massively want to co sleep but seem to be doing it anyway! Think I'm becoming slightly obsessed by it all. Is it too early in the day to have a G&T??

I'd just be interested in hearing peoples' experiences on when they started to introduce a bedtime / napping routine for their babies. Being a control freak sort of person I'd like to have some sort of routine for my 7 week old but am not sure whether its too early for that sort of thing. Not very good at just going with the flow!

Sainsbury's at New Cross had the fans behind the customer service counter yesterday and were restricting them to one per customer!!

Thanks BB. I was thinking growth spurt but then she doesn't seem to want to feed more - still every 3 hours or so -
Am I making a horrible mistake? (Newborn naps)
LauraHW replied to Emski's topic in The Family Room Discussion
This is kind of related to this thread. I know that I'm being totally ridiculous as my baby is only 6 weeks old but until last week she was an amazing sleeper during her short life. She would nap in moses basket and sleep in there at night after feeds. For past week this has all gone to pot. She will only nap for 30 mins at a time and on me. This is exhausting for her and me - by 6.30 she's beside herself for lack of sleep. She won't go down at night in basket either so have been having her in our bed. WHilst I'm not anti co- sleeping it's definitely not something I want to do in the medium / long term. I'm quite a control freak so even if people tell me I need to relax and go with the flow etc, it's not something that's in my nature to do! Is there a period around 6 weeks when there's massive development that will be causing this change. Again I know that at 6 weeks, no 2 days are the same but the control freak in me takes over! -
Can I pick Forumites' brains on where to go mid-end September with a 3 yo and a 3 mo. Requirements are: - warmish 25 degrees type heat - not more than 3 hours flight - nice beaches but with other stuff to do too - not high rise resort type place Was thinking maybe Sardinia / corsica but don't know anyone who's been!

I always wonder how you don't feed a baby to sleep! -
Thanks!

I'm sure this has been asked before but where locally can I get passport photos done for a baby? Many thanks

Greek islands in August - which are the least busy??
LauraHW replied to Minitoots's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I was going to ask (and sorry to slightly hijack the thread) for similar suggestions for Greek islands in September. We're looking for a really easy holiday with a 3 yo and a 3 month old. Baby friendly boltholes have some villas in Crete. -
Third to fish, chips and more. Lovely owner and very generous portions

Anyone any ideas what to do with used but good condition cot / moses basket mattresses? I know that you're supposed to use a different mattress for each child but it seems a waste to throw them away!
