  1. Hi James, Kemnal Park Cemetery is not local, it's address is Sidcup By-Pass, Chislehurst, Kent BR7 6RR, it's not easy to get there via public transport, if you travel there by train it involves cab journeys from the local train stations the directions given to get there are: How to find the park We are situated directly on the A20 Sidcup Bypass heading towards London. (Off the M25 at Junction 3 follow signs for A20 Lewisham/London bound)The Park is approximately 1 mile from Frognal Corner (Queen Mary?s Hospital), just past the Virgin Active gym, the park is clearly signposted and has a private entrance on the A20. Also, nxjen and Sidhue there is an active Muslim burial area which is situated on what was the site of former plant nurseries in the centre of Nunhead Cemetery. All the Muslims burial plots appear to be aligned with each other, so I'm assuming that they are aligned to Mecca. Correct me if I'm wrong on the following, I believe that Orthodox Jewish burials traditionally are only in Orthodox Jewish burial sites. Unrelated males and females can't be buried in adjacent plots (only family members). The Peckham Rye Ward Councillors are working with groups to find the best solutions. My most recent meeting with a member of SSW was last Thursday in Camberwell new Cemetery. Renata
  2. Hi Uzma, below is the message I posted to you around a year ago. From your posting then you live near St Anthony's. You would certainly live too far from Ivydale or Goose Green. You need to look at Southwark's Starting Primary School and Lewisham's equivalent too; these show the last place distances for most primaries. Check your distance in metres to your closest schools. You need to work out your realistic options and put 6 on your form as you risk being allocated an undersubscribed school some way from your home. Be aware that last place distances may move up or down from year to year. If you email me or pm your address details, I would be happy to advise you which are possible options for you. Renata Hi Uzma, if you are living in the area near the bottom of Lordship Lane, I would suggest Goodrich, Harris East Dulwich (which will be in the common application system next year), Horniman's bulge for this year was cancelled but may happen next year, St Francesca Cabrini (does take non-Catholics), Dulwich Wood and Heber. You may think of others depending on where exactly you live. Put your 6 schools in your true order of preference, if you put a long shot first, if you don't get this or your other top choices it won't reduce your chance to get offered a place at your lower placed school if you fulfill the criteria for this school. Renata
  3. Hi all it's all to do with the national changes in the electoral system that came into place a year or two ago. It means that everyone living in a household has to register individually and one person can't register the whole household anymore eg the 18 year old may have been initially registered by his parents ( from 16 you can be added to the register but won't be able to vote) but this year needed to register individually. If you are being asked for ID it may be you have never provided ID before. It's rationale behind this is to reduce electoral fraud. Renata
  4. I'm still waiting on confirmation on what is the situation with Ivydale for 2016. Once I know for sure, I'll post back on this thread, Renata
  5. I've put a members enquiry in about this, I've asked several questions to clarify the situation and the historical reasons for it. James, if it was the outcome of a planning application, it couldn't have been voted down by the PR Ward Councillors as only one of them was actually a planning committee member at the time that the meeting would have been held, 2008 or 09 as the building works were going on in 2010 (you say above you were on the committee so that means it went to full committee). This was before my time (my fellow PR councillors and I were first elected in 2010) and during the previous Liberal Democrat/ Conservative administration. Renata
  6. There is a new food kiosk in Peckham Rye Station called Steamer. It has fresh homemade sushi, large steamed pork/chicken buns and a few take away dishes. Renata
  7. Hi Stephanie, I suggest you contact the College Ward Councillors: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] They may know more about the orchard, or who you should contact about it. How is the project to be funded; are you looking for funding? This type of project may be suitable for a cleaner, greener, safer (CGS) funding application. Renata
  8. Hello all, I emailed Cabinet Member Barrie Hargrove about this yesterday. I think this is an important service. Renata
  9. Hi Monkey, It has, after the usual priority allocation, 1/3 of remaining places will be allocated on distance (but only up to 1km), the remaining 2/3 will be on random allocation (ie Kingsdale style lottery). http://www.harrisdulwichgirls.org.uk/uploads/key_information/2_0_admissions-policy-2016-17.pdf I'm not a fan of random allocation, I did put in my thoughts into the consultation process. Renata
  10. Hi Mrs Cuckoo, to have a chance to win a Secondary appeal, you need either to show the admissions criteria for the school were incorrectly applied to your application (eg their applied their safe walking distance assessment incorrectly) or show that Charter can provide in a way for your child that no other local school does eg if it were a performing arts speciality school and your child was talented in this field, that may be a reason to appeal. Be warned that only a low proportion of appeals are successful, far more places are secured via the waiting list. Renata
  11. To confirm it is in Peckham Rye Ward, Renata
  12. Have you tried calling Lewisham's planning department and enquiring informally? Thing about possible overlooking issues, would you affect neighbours amenity, how close are you to the neighbouring house etc. Renata
  13. Thanks Nigello, I do want that people let me know when there is an issue. I do get quite a significant amount of casework via this forum. Renata
  14. Dear all, the Peckham Rye Ward Councillors have agreed to call this one in to Committee. Renata
  15. I'll investigate (after the half term as they are closed this week) and get back to you all on this. Renata
  16. To update on this, I've had a response from Council officers. To hopefully solve this problem, extra large bins are being provided at weekends and all the users who have booked pitches are being reminded of the terms and conditions of their contracts. Renata
  17. You could approach Southwark and ask if they have any retail units that you could try out a pop-up shop in. There was such a site on Evelina rd in Nunhead, but this unit is now up for rent rather than for pop-up. Renata
  18. Hi Gregson, I wasn't even aware of this. It's now an Academy so it's a bit harder to keep tabs on what is going on. I guess they are doing this as the age for a child to remain in education or training has gone up from 16 to 18. As I didn't know about this I didn't attend the consultation! Thanks for this Renata
  19. Hello all, I responded to Lucy yesterday and it's been raised with officers. Lucy, once I hear back I'll post on here and email you. As I mentioned to you and James has posted about as well, this may be something to apply for CGS funds for. I have asked for speeds on this road to be checked too. Renata
  20. Hi MadameChocolat, sorry, the pool is currently closed for renovation works. It's due to reopen on Friday 22nd May. Renata
  21. Hi srisky, I would suggest emailing [email protected] Give your child's details, new and old address and stating that as you've moved you no longer need the place. It's good that you doing this as so often parents move and it's only when a child doesn't turn up in September that this is established. Renata
  22. Hi all, your comments are taken on board and I'll raise the issues, bins etc with officers, Renata
  23. I will post on here when the next application round for CGS is open (usually in the autumn). Renata
