  1. Hello Kitty strawberry toothpaste, stocked by chemists and pound shops. 1400ppm fluoride, the same as adult toothpaste. Enjoyed by small mint loathers. (Stick a superhero sticker on it if Hello Kitty causes problems!) Renata
  2. I have raised this with council officers again and I am waiting to here back about the schedule for this junction. Renata
  3. There are special extra resits this year in November, only for those who took their GCSEs this summer. http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/teachingandlearning/qualifications/examsadmin/news/a00214015/gcse Renata
  4. Hi Simonethebeaver, I would suggest you apply for your 6 closest community schools. If you do get offered a school you're not keen on, I would suggest you accept and wait and see what happens with your waiting list positions. Renata
  5. The Haberdashers Aske Free School has been approved and is due to open September 2013. This year you need to apply directly to Haberdashers as it hasn't yet been intergrated into the system. This means that you can apply to this primary and 6 other ones on your CAF form. Renata
  6. Hi Etta166, the last place offered distance does not include siblings, siblings are in a different priority category. As families may move between child 1 and 2 say, this woould lead to an inflated last place offered distance, RenT
  7. Southwark only have on-line applications this year and the booklets are avaialble on-line too. You need to apply in the LA you live in, the closing date is January. It is a pan-London system, so if you live near a borough boundary you may find your closest schools are in a neighbouring borough, you use the same form for all.It is advised to find 6 schools and put them down in your order of preference. Renata
  8. Definitely do apply, you can always delay, also your plans may change and you may not leave London. You can not hold a place a whole year, but until Easter. You may find if you keep your daughter in nursery a full year that no places come up in your local schools for year 1. If you know at Easter you are moving out of London, then you could turn down the place you have deferred. Renata
  9. Hi DJ, 30 years ago, there were far fewer cars and they travelled at a slower speed too. Henry, I will found out for you. Renata
  10. Yes Robin, the Peckham Rye Ward Councillors will sign the letter too, so maybe work it from Councillors from the Dulwich area, or area served by Dulwich Police Station rather than Dulwich Community Council. Renata
  11. Furley-Yap I don't where you live exactly, but some possible ones, Langbourne, you know: Elm wood, Kelvin Grove, Kingswood, Rosendale , Elmgreen. Due to the current pressure on primary school places in the South of the borough and neighbouring boroughs, you are most likely to get a place in your closest school as schools further away will have other families closer than you. What we don't know is which schools will bulge, that extends last place offered distances for the bulge year. My advice is still therefore, put down your six closest schools, but in order of preference. It will not reduce your chance of being offered a place at your local school if the outlying ones can't. Renata
  12. St Michael's Bermondsey, 71% Renata
  13. Furley-yap, the map you post is very old, these are ward divisions from a decade ago! I suggest you apply to your 6 closest schools and go across LA boundaries. Langbourne Primary was reduced in size from a 2 form entry to a single form entry school some years ago due to the lack of demand of state primary school places in the area (ie there is a single form school currently in a 2 form primary building). I do know, that now like the rest of the Borough and London, there has been an increase in demand for places. Unfortunately with the current Governments policy on schools, LAs can't just set up a new school, it can only be done via the Free School scheme, ie not via the LAs. Renata
  14. Hi Molly, The schools don't know what order you put them down in. You will receive an offer from the school with the highest position on your list that can offer your child a place. Haberdasher's Askes' offers on distance, several children from the Eastern side of Nunhead (Hollydale, Ivydale, Limesford and roads around that area) have got in since the admissions criteria changed to distance. I think you little chance if you live over the 1km mark as it's rare that any band goes over 1km. Some girls have got into Prendergast from this area too. Definitely too far for Charter. The most popular school last year with Ivydale parents was Deptford Green. Renata
  15. St Anthony's doesn't take non-Catholics but St Francesca Cabrini does, but only a few, after religion, ranking goes on distance like community schools. Renata
  16. I think schools are feeling a bit in limbo, particularly over the English GCSE results. There is currently the really awful situation with the Welsh Exam board gradings, English pupils now have different grades to Welsh ones with the same results, I don't know if any Southwark schools use this board. Renata
  17. This is what I was told!
  18. Hi Polly, if you live on the boundary, I would suggest you apply to both Southwark and Lewisham schools eg Goodrich, Fairlawn, Horniman, St Francesca Cabrini etc. I would suggest listing your 6 closest schools, whichever borough they fall in, but put them in order of preference over distance. I say this as schools don't know your ranking on the form . You will be offered a place at the highest ranked school that can offer your child a place. You do however need to submit your form via the LA you live in, (ie Southwark and on-line) Renata
  19. I asked at Kingsdale, the response I got: staff have not been informed yet of the results due to many candidates papers being remarked, results being unratifed plus resits in November. Renata
  20. I will chase up, thanks for reminding me, me'mate'Dave. Renata
  21. Ward councillors did not push for traffic calming measures on this road! (James' comment above). A few months ago there was consultation on the Forest Hill Rd / Colyton Rd Traffic lights. Some residents raised there were issues with speeding/rat running Scutari Rd. There was a consultation during the last half of August as it whether the speed cushions (there prior to the resurfacing)should be replaced by humps and raised tables be put at the junctions. 14% of respondants were against the scheme ( so not everyone wanted the scheme) and 86% for it ( ie not everyone but the majority). I can see that on this thread there are differing opinions! As the scheme is currently going in, I would suggest residents wait and see the full outcome eg does it slow traffic or not, is their any impact on rat running or not? etc, Renata
  22. Just to add to some of the points above, I was also at the Dulwich CC meeting. Even though Peckham Rye Ward comes under Peckham and Nunhead CC, both the future of Dulwich Police Station issue and Dulwich hospital are important to many residents in my Ward. The Peckham Rye Councillors are very much opposed to the closure of Dulwich Police Station. It was only a few months ago that we were told that no front counter services would be cut. As I raised at the meeting, I think that it will mean that there will be an decrease in reported crime as residents won't always be able/willing to go eg to Peckham Police Station to report crime. Renata
  23. The next Peckham and Nunhead Community Council meeting which incorporate Peckham Rye (ie Eastern ED, West and south Nunhead and Southwark bit of Honor Oak), Nunhead, Lane,Peckham and south Liversey Wards is on tomorrow at Harris Academy @ Peckham from 7pm onwards. The Cleaner Green Safer Funding program for this year will be presented and there will be discussions/workshops on the Peckham and Nunhead Area Action Plan. http://moderngov.southwarksites.com/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=352&MId=4358 all welcome, Renata
  24. Avant do sippy cup like teats for their bottle, maybe that would work as a half way measure? You can remove the inner valve and then it's like a sippy cup! http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000B7COEW/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550933029&ref=asc_df_B000B7COEW Renata
  25. Yes, Huggers is correct, Harris boys have no year 11s yet, so the first results will be in 2014. Renata
