  1. There is another thread about the same junction lower down the page! To repeat what I have said on the other thread, surveys have been done and plans drawn up for this junction. They are currently with TFL awaiting approval. Nothing is going to happen until after the Olympics/paralympics! Renata
  2. There are some holiday clubs held at primary schools. Also, I think Palmtrees (an afterschool club) runs holiday play sessions. Renata
  3. Goose Green Hall, Ed Community centre? Renata
  4. Brenchley Gardens and Rye Hill both have TRA Halls, also Buchan Hall in Nunhead. The Old Nun's Head has a function room, as mentioned above, however it is upstairs(thinking lots of buggies?). Renata
  5. This is a 5mph road, any road that has a speed of less than 30mph, must in some way be self enforcing, ie have some form of traffic calming. Due to its location, cutting through the park, it is different to a standard road, children do just wander across it! I do think that this is a appropriate measure in this location. Anyway, it is up to local people to comment on the consultation, so please do so! Renata
  6. Hi Fushia, yes I agree with you, I suggested via PM to the original poster, go after year 2 SATs and return in time for the start of the new school. Renata
  7. Hi Saffron, what I meant is if Sol's child misses a school year, they can't rejoin school in the year below their chronological age group. Sol, if you are planning to go around year 2/3, when your child is due to change school, I would suggest going after SATs in year 2, the dates of these can be found on the web, they are in May, and then returning in Early September for the start of Juniors. This would be around 15-16 weeks. You don't say if your child is in the state or private sector for education. The usual amount of time you can take your child out of school is 2 weeks in any academic year as authorised absence if the head approves it (secondaries often don't allow this though). Under special circumstances the head, may at their discretion extend this a bit, but after a while your child will be taken off the roll. Don't assume that if your child will is absent for part of year 3 that they be able get a place at your chosen school. They could be offered a place quite a distance from where you live, as it will depend on where there are vacancies. If your local school is under subscribed, this is less likely to be a problem (you don't say where you plan to come back to when you return). Renata
  8. All the plans for the junction are with TFL, awaiting their comments/approval. I am aware that this junction does keep coming up on here, with regards to safety, light phasing and structure. It will have a major overhaul, but nothing will happen until after the summer due to the Olympics/Paralympic. Be aware also that the flow of traffic through this junction is huge and therefore it's never going to be easy to deal with! Renata
  9. There is someone to report dog issues to- He posts on here as Peckham Parkie (Official title- Park Liaison Officer) He is based in Peckham Rye Park and his name is Mark Newell 07940743929 (useful to keep on your mobile!) [email protected] Renata
  10. Hi Sol, no they can't. The would need to remain with their peer group. Be aware also, that there may not be spaces available in their current school (places can't be held for children for periods as long as several months. It does happen that parents leave the UK for periods of time, I have been aware of a few cases eg a year abroad due to parent's work. When they come back, the child/children definitely joined their old year group. Usually the children have been attending school while abroad. If you have a choice when to do this, and it turns out to be for 3 months ,I would suggest to organise it over the summer break, leaving at the beginning of July and coming back towards the end of September. You don't say how old your child/children would be. If eg the child is due to go into reception, and is not yet 5, you can defer entry until the term after their 5th birthday. Renata
  11. I have contacted both Athenlay and Carrib FC, also Westminster House Youth Club and Cambridge House (SEN). Renata
  12. Hi Toomuchchocolate, yes Saffron is right, the newer play area equipment is not part of the One O'Clock club. The issue fof dog mess etc was raised about a year ago, I will raise this again, and also the point you raised Nunheadmum about access. Nikki73, I'm waiting on feedback on the timeline for the works at Peckham Rye. Renata
  13. Here are the guidance notes to go with the application form. Sorry the two files together were too large to attach to one post! Renata
  14. At last week's Community Council meeting, a funding stream for organisations to run summer activities for Secondary aged pupils was mentioned. The funding is up to 2k per scheme and up to 2 schemes per applicant. Note that the closing date for applications is FRIDAY 29th JUNE at 1pm. Do your children attend a club/organisation. Do you know of one that may be interested to apply for this? Please see the attached application form. Renata
  15. To update, the Funds to run all the One O Clock clubs were cut, however, even with the cuts in funds money was earmarked to keep all the Children's centres open. Each of the One O Clock clubs is being taken over by a Children's Centre. They will be still running what the Council terms "Stay and Play" sessions ie open access One O Clock Club sessions. At times outside the "Stay and Play" sessions the Children's Centres will run other things in the buildings, which may or may not be open access dependant on what the activities are (eg they may run music or dance or art or other sessions). The end result for parents will be therefore One O Clock clubs plus other activites. I will raise the above about leaves in the Water Feature, and ask for it to be cleaned out regularly. I don't think the wet and windy weather has been helpful in this case! Renata
  16. Just to update, Honor Oak Rec is to be discussed as part of "Parks and Open Spaces" discussions which are opening soon. Local Residents, Cllr Victoria Mills and I all spoke at the Cabinet meeting on which included burial and cemeteries. The meadow area has been moved back in the schedule and further discussions about it will come back to Cabinet in two years time once further studies have been done on other areas of the cemetery. The immediate area being used for burials is the land that was dumped on and contaminated (now cleared) in Camberwell New Cemetery. Renata
  17. 343 is running to City Hall Renata
  18. I'm at Elephant and Castle and have seen the following routes.343,35,333 ,155,196, 363, 63, 188. There may be more that I haven't seen! Bus passes can be used on trains, but travelcards are not valid out of zone. Roads are relatively quiet and the 343 I've just got on is not particularly full. Renata
  19. Very sad news Adam and all of the other members of the Connelly family. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. Renata
  20. I will verify what is happening when I am in Tooley street in Friday. What I can confirm is happening is that Children's Centre's are taking over one O clock club buildings. The last information I had (but this is over a year old, so I need to verify that this hasn't changed), is that the Children's Centres would still run the stay and play (ie one O clock club) sessions, and would use the buildings for other activities at other times. Peckham Rye is a little different, as capital funds have been allocated to build a new facility on the same site, as the converted POW hut is not fit for purpose. It would therefore close for a few weeks while the building works take place. Once I get to the bottom of this (most likely Friday) I will post again. Renata
  21. Hi Lochie, if the school you are applying to is under local authority control, as most primaries are, than yes, you would get a place for a younger sibling. If however the primary is an academy or becomes an academy, be aware that academies set their own admissions criteria and may not have a sibling policy (although most currently do). Renata
  22. I am thinking of all of Pat's family and friends during this awful time. Please could you contact me when the next search is going on, I would like to come and help. Let me know any way I can help. Also, local residents who don't read this forum have approached me asking how they can help. Has anyone looked on the covered reservoir (not the golf course one) next to Nunhead Cemetery? Renata
  23. Hi Lewis, There are two areas in Camberwell Old Cemetery, one grassy area with ground raised years ago, and the area towards Wood Vale. Also some patches of filling in elsewhere. Some space also in Camberwell New Cemetery (not the REC!) and a bit of space in Nunhead Cemetery in the Muslim Area. Southwark is not and has not been considering a Southwark Sports Field For Burials. The Rec is within the grounds of Camberwell New Cemetery and the land was originally purchased for burials. I think Lewis that you are aware that a consultation was carried out, and as a consequence (and with support from me, Victoria Mills and Gavin Edwards) the Rec was designated as option of last resort. I think that many residents may not agree with your statement "soon-to-be-ignored dead" about their deceased loved ones. Renata edited for typos
  24. Hi All, two different parts of the cemetery have been muddled up in this report. The elevation of the burial area is near Wood Vale. Gravestones are not going to be disturbed. A tree survey has been carried out and the majority of larger trees (healthy ones are to remain) and some smaller ones are to have burials around them in that portion of Camberwell Old Cemetery. There will be extensive planting of new trees too, so there will be more trees than at the outset with the majority of mature ones remaining (a few were found to have structural/heath problems when the survey was done). I have visited the site, it is certainly not a wood! It is the strip of land on the Wood Vale side of the Cemetery. It has been used for burial in the past, but there are no gravestones, the land is being elevated around the trees so that burials can be carried out without disturbing the deeper communal graves. There is another area of the Cemetery being discussed at the moment, after this area, towards Wood Vale is full, that is towards the north of the cemetery. There the ground level had already been raised over previous graves for doing burials in some time ago. This is why the land there is higher than surrounding areas (It was prepared for burials and then forgotten). I haven't heard anything about tree felling in this area, the area I saw, was elevated and grass rather than a woodland and within the cemetery, I will be attending a meeting this week when I should find out more. This area is not to be used imminently. With the reuse of these previously used sites there is sufficient burial space for around the next 30 years if the rate of burial v cremation remains then same. If southwark residents decide to no longer bury their deceased loved ones and all opt for cremation, this second area will never be used. The current rate of burial v cremation is around 30% burial to 70% cremation, this rate has remained stable for the last couple of years, but this could change. Renata
  25. Hi Only me, there are plans and funds in place, so surveying has been done. I am waiting for more details, so I'm not being cryptic, but I don't know more myself at the moment! Renata
