  1. Hi Hickory, the reason why the works are being done now is due to delays at the TFL end for approval for the scheme (probably due to last summer's Olympics). This is why it wasn't done earlier in this financial year. I'm so glad you are OK Trent69. I know that everyone is getting frustrated at this junction but due to the road works they should careful than usual. I will report this and your comments DJ. There is an issue with the Nunhead Lane lights and the East Dulwich Road ones being out of sync. The phase at the East Dulwich Road one is twice as long as Nunhead Lane so cars can only cross the Nunhead Lane Junction toward ED every second green phase. I think it's the outcome of this that you are seeing DJ. Renata
  2. Hi Aled, if you look at the petition signatories, you'll see that both Labour and Lib Dem Councillors have supported this. www.ipetitions.com/petition/extend-the-tube-to-camberwell-peckham Renata
  3. Lid Dems have supported it Shaun, Anna,it is seriously being investigated, have you signed the petition. Renata
  4. Cllr Peter John has set up an e-petition for a Bakerloo Line Extension. www.ipetitions.com/petition/extend-the-tube-to-camberwell-peckham/ There is a comments box on this where you could say eg benefits etc Renata
  5. There are discussions going on with some of the current secondary schools with regard to permanent expansion. Renata
  6. Admissions policy for primary and secondary school entry in 2014 in under consultation here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/3292/consultation_on_admission_arrangements_201415 note the changes proposed for waiting list placement for primary schools, this is to prevent parents holding 2 places at once. 7. Hi, to inform you that the Wimbledon lobby had years to build up support for this, as the Wimbledon service was earmarked to be cut due to the platform layouts. DFT have been useless at responding. We only knew that there was possbly a threat to the Sevenoaks/Orpington service last summer. The Sevenoaks/Orpington service is struggling at peak times, even with extra trains at these times. I have been made aware of issues at Peckham Rye during rush hour. Peckham Rye is basically now a hub station so there are more people getting on the Thameslink trains than before. It has been reported to me that some mornings, not everyone can physically fit on the 8am train. I don't think this was considered, not just people using the overground service or increased numbers on the Dartford to Victoria service, but more people using the Thameslink services. Renata
  8. I am waiting for clarification from DFT as to what is happening on the Sevenoaks (Kentish Town)and the Orpington Lines (Bedford). Currently there are 2TPH on the Sevenoaks Line and about 2TPH on the Orpington Line in peak time only. Reading the not very clear press releases, it is implied that the Sevenoaks trains would continue through London (I've asked for confirmation), but there is no mention of the Orpington Service. I only take these trains occasionally, but I know between 7 and 10am northbound and 4 to 7pm Southbound, they are sardine cans. This is with the extra trains, so they are essential to this route. Renata
  9. To update Annabel, unfortunately, the gritting lorry can't get further up Honor Oak Rise as it's to large to turn round at the top. However, it has been organised for the upper part of the road to be hand treated with salt/grit. Renata
  10. To update on trains: no trains running via Nunhead/Peckham Rye/Denmark Hill on the First Capital Connect Route. Trains are diverted to Victoria, so running via these stations from Victoria to Dartford and Orpington at a 4 trains per hour schedule. Renata
  11. Also to add, all the local bus routes appear to be running OK. Renata
  12. Peckham Rye Ward, all main roads reported as Ok. Southeastern via Peckham Rye many cancellations/major delays. Honor Oak Rise, upper section has been passed through the council officers network. I'm glad to hear that the Council's planning for such weather conditions appears to have works. I'll pass the coments back. Renata
  13. All existing grit/salt bins will be refilled tomorrow and the bin that has been reported to me as missing, at the junction of Athenlay Road and Fernholme is to be replaced. Renata
  14. Hi Annabel, I will ask for it to be done, I know how steep that road is, it's odd that half the road was done. Renata I have had an official update: Here's the latest update on Sunday 20/1 Snow is forecast until late this evening. It is then expected to remain dry. The gritters are currently out on the priority and resilience networks. They are running clear and not experiencing any problems. The gritters will be out again at eight this evening and probably again early tomorrow morning. There are no issues with salt stock levels. Over fifty staff are out today gritting pavements. Over one hundred staff have been gritting key areas on estates, including walkways. A small number of locations with slopes in the south of the borough will have their refuse collected slightly later, once access routes are gritted. They include hillcrest and cassinghurst in Sunray Avenue, Allport and Hannen House in Champion Hill, adelaid House in grove park, grovelands in camberwell grove, beachwood court in crystal palace, wavel place in sydenham hill and crystal court in college road. Refuse collections across the borough are expected to run as normal tomorrow morning. If there are any isolated access issues, refuse will be collected as soon as practically possible. Pavements outside schools are being gritted from six am tomorrow morning. Parents / guardians are again asked to keep in touch directly with their child's school about any disruption. Grit bins across the borough are being replenished tomorrow. Call volumes to the CSC have been stable and there are currently no major problems reported across the borough.
  15. Lidl in Peckham had padded snowboarding gloves for children last week. I'm not sure what sizes are left, as I have no idea when they got them in! Renata
  16. All main roads in Peckham Rye Ward fine this morning. Take care on side roads! Renata
  17. Southeastern services via Peckham Rye are running with gaps in both directions due to cancellations. Worth checking at nationalrail.co.uk before you set out. Renata
  18. Hi Londonmix, I'm just saying this is possible, so that residents are aware of the possibilities. There isn't buckets of space at Harris Girls' (so I don't know if there is enough space there or eg their 6th Form centre would need to move elsewhere), but none at Harris Boys'. I was quite surprised that Southwark Free School could move to a different area once funding was approved (I thought they would need to reapply with support of parents in the new area, they didn't). Renata
  19. Official info sent to Councillors: Dear Cllrs and chief officers, here is an update for you about council activity relating to the winter weather over the next few days. The local forecast Further snow flurries are expected today and tomorrow. Sunday is expected to be drier but still cloudy. Monday may see patchy snow and sleet then turning to rain. Highways and footpaths The priority is to keep the so called resilience and primary networks in the borough clear and therefore pre gritting has taken place for most of the week and will continue over the weekend on those routes. Pre identified footpaths are also being gritted, for example, outside schools, health centres, retail areas and transport hubs. Grit has also been given to the marina and the cemeteries and crematorium have also had roads and paths gritted. Street cleaning teams switch to putting grit down and snow clearance in wintery weather. All of the detailed information about specific locations can be accessed via the winter plan on the winter web pages on the council's website. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/100003/community_and_living/2537/winter_weather Southwark's estates have already received a stock of grit and gritting is taking place in the following kinds of locations, sheltered housing, uncovered stairs and balconies as well as refuse access areas. Grit stock levels will be checked over the weekend. Grit The council's grit stock is currently around 1100 tonnes. To put that in to context, the depot is very nearly full. Any stock that is used up in the pre gritting and gritting this weekend will be replenished by a further order of 300 tonnes which has already been purchased. Grit bins across the borough will be replenished on Monday. Housing An on call manager and officer will be in place over the weekend as usual and housing officers are conducting their ongoing checks with any vulnerable residents. Wardens are also making visits to vulnerable people across the borough. Call centre The call centre has planned for additional resources to be available this weekend to respond to any increase in calls. Libraries Kingswood House and the Library closed at 3pm due to the adverse weather. All other libraries are offering a normal service. The weekend situation will be reviewed first thing tomorrow, but unless there is a real deterioration in conditions, a normal service will resume again. Schools Parents and guardians are being asked to contact their school directly to find out about any changes to opening times as this information is no longer collated centrally. CSC will ensure operators are aware and direct callers appropriately. All schools have previously been offered grit and grit bins to help them remain open. HR The council has reiterated guidance to staff on the Source about their responsibilities: "All employees are expected to make every effort to attend their normal place of work at the scheduled time to carry out their duties. The responsibility rests with the employee to get to their place of work and to advise their line manager of any difficulties that they are likely to encounter, but it is also appropriate for the employer to offer reasonable assistance when difficult conditions arise". Information As well as the winter information pages on the website, the council is using social media channels to keep people updated and directing them to additional info (if required) on the web. This will continue over the weekend. Updates We will update you if there are any significant changes. A lead officer group will hold a teleconference tomorrow (Saturday) to ensure everything remains on track. Members are asked to direct enquiries to the members' line as usual. Renata
  20. Also some services to London Bridge are suffering delays of up to 20 minutes. Renata
  21. I didn't know Harris had applied to set up 2 Schools? As you know James, Peckham Rye Ward is geographically large as the entire centre is taken up by Peckham Rye Park. Part of my ward, in terms of the community it's in is East Dulwich, part is Honor Oak and Part is Nunhead. People tend to send their children to school by the area they live in and not by Ward! There is only one primary actually in Peckham Rye Ward. As people living in the ED part of Peckham Rye Ward, live in East Dulwich their closest primaries are likely to be ED ones eg Goodrich, same for those in the Nunhead Part eg Ivydale or Rye Oak. If the Harris Primary is approved and ends up eg on the Girl's Academy site (personally London Mix, I feel this would be more likely than the Harris Boys' site), pupils would be likely to come predominantly from the part of ED close to the school and Nunhead. If this would happen would there be a 3-18 entry as happens with Academy at Peckham, ie would Harris Free School pupils have priority to go to Harris Boy's/Girl's for Secondary? It is also possible that if approved the Harris Free School Primary could go elsewhere as happened with Southwark Free School. A year and a bit is not very long to find a site and build a school. Sorry, Londonmix, not really clear answers I know, but I don't think there are any at the moment. Renata
  22. Main roads in Peckham Rye Ward all OK. Buses running fine. Forest Hill Road a bit of traffic at the moment due to temporary traffic controls as a broken drain cover in the middle of the road is being replaced. Delays on some trains eg Southeastern services via Nunhead and PR. Some schools are shutting earlier, so check with your child's school if they haven't contacted you already. Renata
  23. Hi Mollie and DJ, the positioning of the bus stop will be a TFL issue rather than Southwark, I will report it, but can't promise that they will do anything about it! I have no idea what the rationale was behind moving it in the first place (better interchange between routes perhaps?) Renata
  24. Council Officers have met with Harris, Harris have confirmed that if they are successful in their Free School bid and can't use the Hospital site, there may be a Harris Free primary school put on one of their existing sites. 25. Hi Molly, I did ask a few months ago about the reintroduction of a right turn towards Nunhead as I know traders on Evelina Rd wanted this. I was told no, not possible. The problem with using even a small bit of the common are the planning issues, covenants etc governing it. If it was any old bit of land, that would make it easier! Renata
