  1. Hi James, I'm checking this, as the top part is a red route, so my thoughts on this that London Streets (part of TFL) deal with this part of Rye Lane. I will post when I have it confirmed either way TFL/Council. Renata
  2. There is also another site being proposed for a front desk, Dulwich Library. Yes, there is definitely cross party dismay at these cuts. I'm very concerned that with the staffing changes too. Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be larger, however only one police sergeant plus a PCSO will be fixed in any SNT, the others can be sent anywhere in the Borough. They will have to deal with all aspects of a case, from it's start to finish eg all the paperwork, studying forensic reports etc, court case etc. This could tie up our SNT members for a very long time. In theory the changes are meant to provide more police on the streets, but actually this is just a reshuffle(our frontline SNTs will be doing duties that were previously done in the back office. Police numbers in Southwark have been cut in the last couple of years. Cynical me thinks that our SNT staff that have become known to local residents will end up spending much of their time dealing with cases elsewhere in the Borough. It is a major erosion of SNTs as we know them. Renata
  3. Not Council, TFL! Renata
  4. Where are you *Bob* ? 14.32 It's snowing!
  5. Most bus route cameras are TFL, if it's come from TFL and wish to appeal, you can do it by email to them (instructions will be on the notice). Agree with Hazelnunhead, look at the photos on-line. Renata
  6. Hi all, I've had a response back from TFL via council officers. In summary: 1.Green Man: effectively, the green man may only be visible for 4 seconds but traffic is held until pedestrians are clear (up to 12 seconds) - this is the standard on new signal junctions. IMO not ideal, but as it's TFLs standard, my hands are tied over this. 2. audible signal is on order but not yet installed. It is not installed as standard at junctions (as opposed to stand alone crossings), it was requested by Council Officers as it's not standard, so this is why it's coming in later. 3. the near-side green man is the current standard design. It has at times been controversial and takes some getting used to but it is thought to be safer. 4. this will vary during the day as the signals are demand responsive. 5.The above ground detectors that have been installed to detect vehicles on all approaches have an operational range of up to 60m. Their alignment was checked during the commissioning and all of these devices were detecting vehicles on all approaches well before the advanced cycle stop lines for cyclists. Actual response from TFL: 1. The timings currently employed at this site are in accordance with the latest Transport for London (TfL) standards. The invitation to cross period, as indicated by the green man, appears for 4 seconds. This allows pedestrians to establish themselves on the crossing. Once this period has expired, there are detectors in place which will hold the traffic light to vehicles on red until the crossing point is clear of pedestrians or until a maximum time is reached. The total time allowed for pedestrians to cross the road is 12 seconds, this is the same amount of time as prior to the modification work. However, if members of the public are concerned then we can obviously look at amending the timings to give pedestrians more time if you feel it would be beneficial. 2. Incorporating an audible signal for pedestrians is assessed on a site by site basis and is not necessarily done as standard as it has the potential to be extremely dangerous. However, at your request an audible signal will be installed. However, you were advised that this would not be done so in time for the commissioning. The additional parts required have been ordered and once the installation company have received them a time and date will be arranged for this work to be completed. 3. The nearside pedestrian signal was requested by the Borough. It is positioned so that when waiting pedestrians are looking at oncoming traffic the pedestrian signal is clearly visible. It also helps to remove any confusion/indecision as when far sided pedestrian signals are used, there is a potential that those crossing the road may be tempted to change their mind when the signal changes. In this situation, as soon as a pedestrian steps in to the carriageway they no longer see a signal and so will keep crossing until they reach the other side. 4. The traffic signals are demand dependant so how these lights operate depends upon the demands that are present and when the demands are made. Renata
  7. Reporting noise problems If you have a noise issue, below is the information from the Southwark Website. You can report a noise disturbance 24/7. The noise team are operational until 2.30am Sunday to Thursday and 4am Friday and Saturday. Renata Reporting Disturbances If you are being disturbed by noise, call the 24 hour hotline on 020 7525 5777 to report the problem. We do not recommend you approach the noise offender, but in some cases you may be asked to keep a noise diary that may be used as evidence. Who deals with noise and nuisance complaints? The Southwark noise and nuisance team deals with all noise complaints, as well as other nuisances such as smells, dust, fumes and light. The service is available between the following hours: Day From To Monday 7am 2.30am next day Tuesday 7am 2.30am next day Wednesday 7am 2.30am next day Thursday 7am 2.30am next day Friday 7am to 5pm 6.30pm to 4am Saturday 7am to 5pm 6.30pm to 4am Sunday 8am 2.30am We work seven days a week and will aim to be with you in 60 minutes. This may vary due to seasonal demands. Please check the availability of the service at the time of your call. Please note there will be no service on Christmas Day. Nuisances we can deal with We can deal with: Amplified music TV Parties Nightclubs and pubs including people outside making noise DIY home renovation Construction sites Barking dogs Alarms Odours and fumes from commercial properties Smoke Emissions and noise from works and equipment in the street We can't deal with: Traffic, trains and planes Some domestic noises Footsteps within homes After reporting a disturbance Officers will quickly call you back to check that the noise is still happening and to get more details from you If the noise is still on officers will need to visit your property (carrying ID badges) to assess the noise If the noise is a nuisance they will take action against the person causing the noise in order to stop the disturbance Officers visiting your home We need to show that the nuisance is disturbing you in your property and preventing what you would normally do. For example, we need to show that at night the noise would prevent the average person from sleeping. What is a nuisance? A nuisance is something that would prevent the average person being able to use their property for a normal use at that time of day. For example, at night for something to be a nuisance it would need to prevent someone from sleeping, therefore the assessment would be carried out in a bedroom. In the daytime, the assessment would be carried out in a living room, and we would need to show that the noise is so loud that it would prevent someone from watching TV or having a conversation. What action can be taken If something is assessed as a nuisance, we can: Try to stop the nuisance and issue a warning if they do (first time only) Serve a notice Issue a fixed penalty if the notice is breached Prosecute if the notice is breached Seize equipment if the notice is breached (usually for ongoing complaints) Confidentiality All complaints are completely confidential. Even, if the person is prosecuted, it is the council that takes them to court because as an officer as witnessed the nuisance. They will not find out who has complained. Legislation We use the Environmental Protection Act 1990 sections 79 and 80 to deal with nuisance and the Control of Pollution Act 1974 to deal with construction sites. What happens if the noise is not something that the council can deal with If the noise is something that the council cannot deal with, such as footsteps, you can take your own action under s82 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Please contact us for more details about this. Why can't you take action for people noise and footsteps? The laws that we use do not allow us to serve notices on people for carrying out normal activities in their homes, or for poor sound insulation. More information You can contact us with any questions that you might have on the number above You can ask your community council or Tenants and Residents Association to invite an officer to your next meeting so that they can answer your questions
  8. I have just received the following notification about remedial works at this junction, on Saturday 6th April. If you can, I would suggest avoiding this junction on that date. Renata Dear Councillors, Ref: Peckham Rye/East Dulwich Road -Resurfacing Remedial Works This is to inform you that FM Conway, the Council?s highways term contractor, would be undertaking some remedial works at the above junction on Saturday 6 April. We recently did some signal improvement works at this junction but the tarmac that was layed has failed. Conways are therefore rectifying this at their own cost.- This date would ensure minimum disruption to traffic.
  9. Ahhh, still not sorted! I have reported the problems again, Renata
  10. Sorry Hopone, I have no extra info, no magic source! This has come from the recent press(mayor) and other stuff that's widely available. I did say current most likely route! Also, I've seen nothing firming up where underground joins overground, except past Peckham. I agree, this does seem to be a mixture of previously published potential routes. I am too in favour of any extension through South East London. Renata
  11. The fire is above the one stop shop. This, the Library and the Cumings museum will remain closed. Everyone has been safely evacuated. The Southwark website will be updated with any further information. The following bus routes are subject to diversion and delays in the area: 12,35,40,45,68,148,171,176,468 and P5 Renata
  12. Thanks ironjawcannon Reported on Southwark website, fire on Walworth Road, Cuming museum, library and one stop shop currently closed Renata
  13. HOPone Camberwell-Peckham-a couple of stops between, depends where it joins rail lines, Lewisham and on towards Bromley appears to be the current most likely route with trains coming above ground some point after Peckham. So definitely plans to go past Peckham. I've not heard any plans for a branched line. The petition for this is still running, almost 2,300 signatures now: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/extend-the-tube-to-camberwell-peckham/ Renata edited to sort out link. Thanks H.
  14. Hi all, I reported the issues with these lights to council officers who notified TFL. I'm hoping this has now been resolved or will be soon. Keep me posted on the situation. Thanks Renata
  15. Hi all, I will report the problems with the lights and ask that TFL sort them out. Renata
  16. Hi Jaki, I am really sorry to hear of the burglary and the theft of your precious bracelet. I shall keep a look out for it myself. Do you have any photos of it that you could post here? Renata
  17. Hi Molly, (knowing you are from Nunhead) train from Nunhead station to Elephant and Castle, (then 12 or 148 is an option if you go via the shopping centre, however long walk). I would suggest with your little one, turn right and go out of the less busy back exit to E & C, turn left walk a short distance to the New Kent Road, turn right onto it and at the bus stop there take the 53 or 453. It's a very short walk from the station to the bus stop. I hope the nasty tonsilitis has gone away soon, Renata
  18. Ivydale School have a holiday club, I think in the scend week of the holidays. Renata
  19. Yes, | should add, many others lobbying too! I am sure Michael, that your question also helped. So I should have added the word "helped" into my posting. It is a long term project, but this is a significant step towards it becoming reality. I think James, Peckham Rye Homeowner, that when it goes above ground it will follow existing train lines. Renata
  20. Yes, helped by Peter John's lobbying, it has moved up the agenda! edited to be more correct (thanks to replaced with helped by)! I think this is really good news. Renata
  21. Hi JDR, do you mean the other end, backing onto Ryedale? Renata
  22. Hi Unclegren, there appears to be alot of roadworks at the moment due to last summer's Olympics. There were no scheduled roadworks allowed over an extended summer period, also TFL were not signing works off on TFL routes. The recent works around Peckham Rye were scheduled projects, so the money can't get diverted to potholes. Renata
  23. 10 minute delays this morning. Please avoid or allow extra time. Renata
  24. I have raised this with council officers, but unfortunately I've had no response yet, Renata
  25. I haven't heard, but you reminded me, I need to chase this up, thanks, Renata
